Where are you????

OP posts:
DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 28/10/2009 09:20

Have you noticed that MN gets mentioned on BBc news every other day?

OP posts:
francaghostohollywood · 28/10/2009 11:43

Hi sorry I disappeared last night, all of a sudden I felt really tired.

Sputnik lol at driving alla romana. I think you've been really cool about your move to the capital. The reality is that moving is always traumatizing, even when it's done with optimism. I'm always a bit surprised to find so many threads of people who want to move abroad or to new areas, they seem to disregard how difficult it is to uproot (or am I too italian about it? Dh jokes that us Milanese don't even want to move from native quartiere He is right btw)

Pippi no idea as to what happened to swimming guy. I'm imagining that he's been fired because he wanted to be paid more? The dc, especially dd, are heartbroken and feel a bit traditi, I think.

Have spent the morning with my mum at the farmer's market and the supermarket. I now feel as if life has been sucked out of my veins.

francaghostohollywood · 28/10/2009 11:44

Ah Camo, yes, I agree, LI is lovely!!!

minervaitalica · 28/10/2009 12:50

Franca, lol at life sucked out of you after a morning with mum at the supermarket!

Funnily enough, I love my mum to bits and she is the greatest mum on earth, but sometimes she says some really stupid things that make my blood boil, just like that. It is normally on the misogynistic side of comments though... It's good to hear I am not the only one to feel like that!

MM, I hope today you feel a bit better... If not, vent away!!!

Sputnik, I'd love to drive alla Romana. Not for practical reasons - just for the kudos

Pippi, what has MN been mentioned about ?

francaghostohollywood · 28/10/2009 13:12

Minerva, you are not alone! I love my mum too and she's is a fantastic grandmother (much more patient with my dc that she ever was with me and db), but she comes up with the most reactionary crap ever. And she's getting worse. She is the typical example of the Italiano medio who's been brainwashed for the last 20 yrs . I want my real mother back, she was quite progressive in the 70s!

francaghostohollywood · 28/10/2009 13:13

than

Rosa · 28/10/2009 14:14

What a pain about the teacher especially as you have signed the dc up for a course with him - I would probably ask where he is teaching or a numero di contatto also to be nosy but also to show I was annoyed!
Sputnik I admire and salute you for having driven into the centre of Rome and parked !

Last night I did the spiedini with frozen zucchini - thanks minerva and cherry toms they were ok . So today dd askes for polpetine - no worries but I have made them without an egg and breadcrumbs ...Honestly I don't have the brain and the breadcrumbs were looking at me in the butchers !!! I hope they hold together ok and I will do a tom sauce to bung over them !!!!

Camomilla · 28/10/2009 17:17

hi everyone.

c**ap day here. Got temp again, DS's gone up too, after an afternoon free yesterday and DD been suuuuuuuuuuuper chingy, probably not helped by DS waking us up at 7am for once we didn't have to get up early

finally DD has left me alone for 5 mins, mandaged to put her in the bumbo, sat next to DS watching shrek.

francaghostohollywood · 28/10/2009 20:01

Rosa, yes, I will def ask about him again next week.

Mmmm spiedini sound yummie and polpettine too (always a good idea to drown them in tomato sauce)

Camo, sorry to hear you are still unwell. Today took the dc to a birthday party and cuddled a lovely 4 months baby, who was very snotty and whose family has just recovered from swine flu. Oh dear . I can't resist newborns

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 28/10/2009 20:17

I don't think I can cuddle a newborn that's not mine tbh .

Had lovey day at MIL but stuck on the M25 for 2h with minipippi screaming almost the entire time (she had just woken up before getting in the car so was bored to death and not tired).

We then watched "The Neverending Story" and I fell in love with Atreiu all over again: altro che quel c di A!

My mum can annoy me too but I must admit it is often because I am a grumpy snarly cow. Whatever she says can make me go "Roarrrrrr".

OP posts:
DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 28/10/2009 20:21

MI, MN was mentioned for its poll re swine flu vaccine in pregnancy. It was mentioned as a reliable source. The other day was re GB. And then something else.

Oh and yes LI is great. I cannot do a search for some reason, can anybody check when was the first thread started?

OP posts:
JavierBardem · 28/10/2009 20:24

No, I cannot cuddle one either. Weird.

Dp is still sick, so no companion for dvd. Cannot be bothered reading, my mind is not there. Will check iplayer.

Camo how long have you had fever for now?

JavierBardem · 28/10/2009 20:25

What is LI?

Search does not work for me. Has mnet changed its design again? Not the most visual of people, maybe it did ages ago...

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 28/10/2009 20:40

LI is Little Italy you dopey !

Yup changed here as well and I am confused.

Trye Camo you have been unwell for a while now. How are you feeling?

OP posts:
JavierBardem · 28/10/2009 20:46

I am lying on the sofa with laptop on tummy, my excuse for beind dopey!

francaghostohollywood · 28/10/2009 20:55

Really? Why? I love cuddling newborns and thankfully here in Italy they are usually thrown around by their mothers.

Yes, they are making changing to mn layout AGAIN and I'm irritated.

francaghostohollywood · 28/10/2009 20:56

I'm watching colpo d'occhio on youtube. Not a great movie but Scamy is there and often shirtless

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 28/10/2009 21:23

I am so not fond of newborns. There's something about the smell as well, especially the head, that makes my stomach turn. Really. This is why. At elementari one day I went to a compagna's house to play straight from school. She had a new baby brother who had a milk allergy plus other things and because of this he ahd all sorts of problems and his head and face was all scabby and red and flaky, maybe the body too but do not rememeber. This was quite disturbing at the time, I was 6. So that normal smell of newborn and house with newborn it is in my head connected to that sight and that feeling in my stomach. For this idiotic reason I cannot even kiss my own newborns' head for few months and cannot smell it. DH always jokes when I kiss my kids "oh you do kiss them then!".

OP posts:
JavierBardem · 28/10/2009 21:33

Goodness, what a story.

Mine were just so beautiful, the smell, the eyes, the pouty lips, but somehow other babies leave me cold.

Watching a doc on Carine Roitfeld on youtube.

By the way the apartment therapy site is awful!!!!! Got so much on my nerves this evening, so not in my favourites anymore!

Camomilla · 28/10/2009 21:55

yes, MN doesn't look right... amazingly DS went to bed at 7.30, he was teary because I asked him to tidy up the living room and started crying when DD arrived to "help" him, poor thing, but at least we had lovely bedtime story. of course he had to ruin perfect moment by shouting he needed water (which was behind his head) so DD decided that she wasn't tired anymore and she's just gone to bed now!!)

I love newborn smell, a part from DD's first week, as I couldn't wash her head.

DS was always a nightmare in the car - one of the reason actually we stopped going to PIL, but last time we did we had to stop 4 times, each time for at least half hr as he was very active and woke up just as we gott to the M1!! DD seems better, just.

DP rang from work - he's all achy and shivery... I'm a bit better, really hate that weak fevery feeling.. a holiday at the Maldives would cure it though....

just noticed that even the post message button's different

Camomilla · 28/10/2009 21:57

actually, I feel a bit funny with other babies, a part from my niece, don't mind them when they're a few months old, but newborns, I get that childless feeling of "i'll break them", boh

no, don't like these changes

francaghostohollywood · 28/10/2009 22:02

Blimey Pippi, what a story ! I can understand why you feel uncomfortable around newborns.
No, I don't know why, I really like tiny babies. So small, and indifesi. It's my fav stage!

Carine Roitfeld? The director of vogue france?

Have just finished watching colpo d'occhio. Really ridicolous movie. Dh is away... I wonder if I'll ever find the strenth to go to bed.

TheMysticMasseuse · 28/10/2009 22:06

are you kidding????? i looooove newborn smell!!! if only they could bottle it and market it! i love everything, even the smell of newborn poo (well if they are bfed!) which DH thinks borders on the pathologic.

and tbh any newborn will do although strangers seem more breakable somehow.

very satisfactory Wire episode tonight. "Adjourn your asses" has got to be the best line so far. I know JB can feel me

must get myself to bed- am shattered

Camomilla · 28/10/2009 22:09

everyone's talking about the wire... will have to watch it now, won't I

Sputnik · 28/10/2009 22:17

Just checking in quickly, but think I'd better adjourn my ass off to bed very soon. Love NB smell, but I'm only interested in my own small babies on the whole!
