Welcome, ciao, hello

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 10/02/2009 15:20

it was mentioned yesterday on the 8o'clock news - only the fact that she died,. that's all. i've never heard her story on the news here tbh.

francagoestohollywood · 10/02/2009 15:36

Well, not just her story, but I wonder if they report about the insults to Napolitano, the new legislation against illegal emigrants, the school reform, etc...

OP posts:
Rosa · 10/02/2009 15:41

I have not turned the news on ....I will try not to for the rest of the day simply as I cannot cope with the street interviewers , teh biased opinions the politicians giving the 10 worth but what about the father ?
I have been looking at car seats for use in the Uk. Baffled on what to get as we have a up to 18kg one rear and front facing that will do for either dd1 or 2 but the next size up group 2 and 3 all say from 15kg or approx 4 yrs ..We bought one here which says it is from 3 yrs it is solid but we need to block the seat belt as on a tight roundabout dd1 rocked to one side. It is also Isofix if you want it to be which we need to fix it for next time!!
Thought I found one but apparently Which slated it !

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/02/2009 15:52

no franca, nothing gets mentioned tbh. I guess it's not news ! hence my ignorance at times (I know I could read it online but frankly if I start doing that I might say goodbye to my dh and kids).

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 10/02/2009 16:29

buongiorno!

yes, the Eluana story was only covered by the BBC news online, as far as I know, same with everything else that goes on in Europe, though we've had 2 days of 5min bulletin on chips smell being a combination of ironing board, burbon, cardboard or s.thing like that as discovered by leeds university... [hmmm].

Rosa, if you can, try the car seats first, as they don't all fit all cars, we'd original bought a chicco one which I loved as it was roomier than the standard maxicosi, but had to return it as it rocked so much, as the belt attachment in the car was too long

Rosa · 10/02/2009 16:51

Somebody else suggested that but we need the seat from the airport so I need to buy in advance. PLus its too much to ask M&D to do !
Our seat here its the Jane Indy which I liked as it has good side protection we need to block the seatbelt in better or even better Isofix it . I can imagine trying to take the seat back here !
I have just put on The pm barbara D'urso show - opening argument : Caso Eluana, there will not be a funeral just a benedzione of her body . Argument today was she murdered ?
Arrrrrhhhh I used to like her as well . SO have switched on sky and said dd can watch more cartoons !!!

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 17:12

Eluana story in the Guardian online as well. It's all in there, the insults to Napolitano, the allegations of murder, the autopsy, the Berlusconiano plot to use this to overthrow the magistratura.....etc. etc.

Rosa, will look out for MM, thanks! I must admit I've still to post yours as had to unexpectedly go into the office this morning and they've changes the bloody train times (aaarrrgh!). I'll post it off tomorrow.
I don't envy you with 2 car seats to lug around, we just bought one of those softer ones that you belt into the car as a 2nd seat and to travel with. It's not ideal but we needed 2 for here for neice as well and nothing else would fit in our tiny car.

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 17:13

Here

Sputnik · 10/02/2009 17:15

Yes TV in Britain is crap for any kind of foreign news, and the US is even worse (it's mostly weather).
The Guardian mentioned it.

Can't believe Berlusca would instrumentalise something so private.

Rosa, they say to go by weight rather than age, if that's any help. We are taking car seats with us for easter as we're hiring a car and they charge a load. But there will be 2 of us. Luckily DD is big enough that we could get away with a booster seat, much less bulky.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 10/02/2009 17:16

sorry, hadn't read properly... how old is DD1? we had to put DS in group 2-3 before he turned 4, just didn't fit in his group 1 anymore, couldn't wear a jacket or the straps woudn't do up...

can't stand barbara d'urso.... she was ok years ago though. DP calls her "the pointing woman"

Sputnik · 10/02/2009 17:16

Ah, you beat me to it Brange!

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 17:18

I used to watch her in that programme where she was a gynaecologist (Una Donna per Amica I think). My flatmate at the time watched all those programmes and I just got sucked in. I find her quite irritating now, she's become another of those super-tiratissime who seem to get younger with age.

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 17:20

Ha! Great minds. First the plumber, now the Guardian story.

Berlusconi would instrumentalise his own granny if it was necessary. Non ha vergogna.

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 17:22

Bucharest, coooeeee, someone's wanting the lowdown on Puglia here

Penthesileia · 10/02/2009 17:24

It's so disgusting.

I really feel for her father.

Vatican all in a twist though: Save Eluana - Berlusconi = good; refuse medical treatment to illegal immigrants - Berlusconi = bad. They should stay out of politics.

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 17:33

Lol, that really higlights how much of an incoherent prat Berlusconi is - defending the right to life for the weakest members of Italian society, unless of course you're an illegal immigrant in which case it's perfectly OK if you die of untreated diseases.

Sound familiar? Race laws anyone? I'm sure gnomi were in the undesirable group in 1930s Germany though......

Sputnik · 10/02/2009 17:36

Totally changing the subject, but as we were discussing Jon Stewart the other day just wanted to say you can watch the Daily Show here
This is about the only tv of any kind I have watched for about 2 years!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 10/02/2009 17:38

penthe, the Vatican is all a controsenso! it's like they keep on asking for money to help the poor etc... well, they could probably solve the world famine problems if they sold all that wealth they're sitting on! and don't get me started on women not having souls or condoms against aids...

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 17:44

Lol, yes Sunflower. I've always said that I'd donate money to church charities when they'd sold all their paintings. I'm sure they could sort out half of Africa with the stuff in the Vatican museums.

Sputnik - do you not have a tv then? are you still paying the canone because you have a computer that might be able to receive TV?

Bucharest · 10/02/2009 17:44

Blimeyheck, don't we? (have souls)

I try to be a bit lalalalalalala (that's me with my fingers in my ears) over anything to do with religion....here, or anywhere...so frustrating that so much good could be done...and so much isn't.....bah!

I don't really understand the whole politicisation of the Eluana thing- why has Napolitano been insulted? By whom?

Barbara D has so much lifting going on that she probably (in the uncouth word of some comic or other) sh*ts through her ears....

off to tell whoever wants to know NOT to come to Puglia. mwahahahahahahahah.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 10/02/2009 17:48

LOL at the "sh*ts through her ears"...

we've only had souls since.. there was an enciclica or s.thing... will have a look to tell you since when... (very feminist french teacher at liceo, can't believe I've forgotten the date!)

Sputnik · 10/02/2009 17:58

I don't pay the canone, but we probably should, i'm not sure. We have a tv but the DCs on watch dvds on it, we took down the arial when we fixed our roof over 3 years ago. We have a free satellite but I can't find BBC World on it anymore. I watched Obama's inauguration on Al Jazeera in English, which isn't bad actually but I CAN'T REALLY BE BOTHERed (Sorry, that was DS). You can get RAI on the satellite, but can't be bothered with that either.

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 17:59

I think we're on the same levels as cats soul-wise (and probably sin wise too).

PS. Rosa, glad to hear you DH's foot is better. If what he had is a miracle cure could you please pass it on? DP is walking wounded and trying to milk it as much as he can. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to last....

Brangelina · 10/02/2009 18:02

Now you have to pay the canone if you have a screen of any sort, that might hypothetically receive RAI in any shape or form. It's such a con, it doesn't seem legal but apparently they're exploiting a loophole in the law.

Bucharest · 10/02/2009 18:04

I like cats. Suits me to have a feline soul.....

We don't pay the cannone....

I watched Obama on some Canadian website!

A domani ragazze.....

Oh- a proposito, just asked dp if Scamy farts, and he looked at me with that sad little shake of his head in a "the-internet-is-a-product-of-Satan-himself-and-my-wifelet-is-involved-with-lots-of-truckers-from-Bu rnley/Padova-called-Dave/Renzo-who-have-Italian-actor-fetishes sort of way, so I'd best be off.....

He's not as tall as he looks though, and nor are his eyes as sparkly...
