very of that frittella, will put mum on carnival-cooking duties on sunday!

PippiCalzelunghe · 09/02/2009 13:01

My first kiss was well revolting as well. I refused to see the guy ever again. yuk! poverini, it must be hard be a teenage boy though.

if you all go without dh/dp then I'll leave mine behind as well, with dd2 maybe. let me know what you decide.

rosa I was laughing all the way this morning as well. yes they are all well posh. but I read an article ages ago that for a lot of people it's easier and I can see why. This might be the first year we won't do S/C because dh wants to do nothing and I do not fancy the prospect of doing it myself or fight. but I'd consider S/C for a houseswap as you've got all mod cons and usually a lot come with it. in that article with the house in canada you'd get the car, the bikes and the kayacks, all free.
The italians are the chickiest as most of them will swop their second home or the extra flat...rarely the main residence it seems.

lovely houses on australia too. not much point going there in june though.

Sputnik · 09/02/2009 13:01

Anyway, re the house-swapping, I had a colleague who did a lot of house swapping on Craig's list, he always seemed to be off to New York or wherever, otherwise there's a house swap bit on the guardian site somewhere.

PippiCalzelunghe · 09/02/2009 13:03

PS: hate Paris but I'd go anywhere for a childfree break!

used to cry as well at that song franca (I can still picture the little girl and the mum how I imagined them in my head - I thought that was the worst that can happen to anybody -after being little shirley temple in sara the princes, or something...)

hothell · 09/02/2009 13:04

i booked! only myself and ds, dp at home with baby cause she might start screeching and ruin it for everybody, also fancy doing something just with ds.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 09/02/2009 13:06

first kiss was revolting, thanks for reminding me of that! bleurgh, he was actually good looking, but obviously more "experienced", no, did not enjoy it, and couldn't look at him the following week.... and I was a bit of a sfigata too franca, a part from that kiss, I was the only boyfriend-less girl....

francagoestohollywood · 09/02/2009 13:08

Sunflower, you were born in 1980??? . How very dare you?

I have to go and do some tidy up, the house is a mess and with the sunshine you can spot the dust!

'Later!

Speaking of carnevale, does anyone have a clue how I might go about making and owl costume? Why can't my DD be normal?

PippiCalzelunghe · 09/02/2009 13:09

to summarise: if you go to a mixed school you end up a sfigata, if you go to an all girl school you become a slapper. don't know what I'd choose personally .

hot that's great! will book just for dd1 and me as well. dh can stay home with his ruzzola.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 09/02/2009 13:09

no, no, I was 11!! can't even count anymore, even worse!!!

francagoestohollywood · 09/02/2009 13:10

x post. First kiss I was 17!!! and he was actually quite good looking. Not sure about the kissing as I was too worried to be spotted as a real sfigata !

We need brangelina, I'm sure she had more exciting first experiences!

PippiCalzelunghe · 09/02/2009 13:11

francagoestohollywood · 09/02/2009 13:12

No, not necessarily, I had friends who were much more scafate than me...

An owl costume? oh dear... you need the creative folks on the arts and crafts threads sput. How sweet to want to be an owl

Sputnik · 09/02/2009 13:26

I have no idea where the owl thing came from....

Brangelina · 09/02/2009 13:35

Good morning ladies, on this lovely sunny morning. It is actually quite warm, I'm sitting here with the windows open in just a tshirt.

Where's Scamy skiing then? I will gladly give him lessons. I'll even teach him to windsurf so we can make it an all year thing. That, and be official interpreter for Becks should he stay in Milan. Ladies, I have found my vocation in life.

No interesting first kiss stories, mine was at 11 with a ginger haired boy (yes, really! I used to like redheads before I discovered at a much later age that ginger pubes clashed with most body parts). He was very slobbery and I vaguely remember wanting to get back to reading my Jackie annual instead.

Sputnik, I have no idea re the owl costume - could you not get a batman hat and use it as a base for a papier maché mask? Dos it have to be a particular species of owl? Could she go as a snowy owl? That way you'll just need a white sheet for the body to lightly splatter with grey and black drops.
We've decided to go for the girl with a pearl earring as DP thought no one would understand Van Gogh's ear bandage, plus all the other parents seem to be taking it very seriously. I just need to dig out my 80s original huge fake pearl studs to transform into the aforementioned earring. Does anyone have any idea how to keep it on DD's ear withough resorting to piercing? Or glue?

Brangelina · 09/02/2009 13:36

Being a slapper was def more interesting imo.

PippiCalzelunghe · 09/02/2009 13:37

I was only kidding ya! I had lots of friends/classmates way ahead of me in that game.

great I'm looking forward to meeting ya.

Brangelina · 09/02/2009 13:39

Mmm fritelle sound good, I must get one when I pop out later. DP is disgusted by my fetish for fritelle, but hten he eats some well dodgy things himself. I also used to love those just fried doughnuts you used to get at UK seaside towns, the ones with the gooey middle. Mmmm nasty fried stodge. Of course my pfb is not allowed any of these things so it's all eaten on the sly.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 09/02/2009 13:42

at t-shirt and open windows...

can you put the pearl in a loop of cotton "over" her ear? you know, kind of like we did with cherries as kids

Brangelina · 09/02/2009 13:48

I did think of that, although I was worried it might come off too easily. Maybe I should sellotape the thread to her ear? Or is that too cruel?
