Welcome, ciao, hello

Ooooh - x-post! What's the confession?

francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:01

Dh left this morning for a week in Paris (conference, seminar, whatever it is)... so I got myself a ticket on the TGV and I'm going for 2 days!

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 08/02/2009 22:02

OOooooooh!!! Lucky you! How nice! When do you go?

Brangelina · 08/02/2009 22:02

No, you did the right thing. You see, they could then express their teppisti tendencies with uncaring strangers who probably beat them, and now they are as sweet as pie.

Brangelina · 08/02/2009 22:02

Paris!

Brangelina · 08/02/2009 22:03

But are you leaving your children with uncaring strangers while you're gone?

Penthesileia · 08/02/2009 22:05

Yes! You must leave them with uncaring strangers!

Then you can post: AIBU to leave my kids with strangers while I jaunt off to Paris with DH?

francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:06

lol
Yes. I'm leaving them with my parents .
I know I play it cool, but I always feel distressed before leaving them. I'm a softie! I'm a real mnetter!!!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:07

sorry it should have been . I'm having an emoticon confusion...

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 08/02/2009 22:08

Aaaahhhhhh! You are sweet.

But it's only two days, and you deserve a lovely little holiday.

Oh - drink hot chocolate at les deux magots or cafe de flore, ok?

francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:15

Thank you penthe, you are lovely (psssst: no, I don't deserve it, tbh, or at least I don't feel I do... but ... I haven't been to Paris for 10 yrs... when dh was finishing his phd and rented a flat, where the loo and the kitchen were so tiny and close together that you could poo while doing the washing up!)

OP posts:
SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 08/02/2009 22:19

wow ladies, you've been busy! I'd love to do home exchange, but I' doubt anyone would want to come to toys and pipes heaven...

very franca.... Little Sis is there til the end of the month for uni, but with one eurostar ticket I can probably go to italy 3 times (it was lovely travelling business class for work though ....)

Penthe at you evil child!!!

Penthesileia · 08/02/2009 22:22

Mwaaaah ha ha ha ha ha!

francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:23

I pay 60 euros Milan-Paris. One way. How much is in pounds now? I only travelled once London - paris on the Eurostar.

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 08/02/2009 22:23

No, franca - you do deserve a nice break. 10 years from Paris is too long.

We went last April. It was bliss.

Trying to persuade DH to go again, but with possible move coming up, and the baby, he is reluctant to travel, the big chicken.

Penthesileia · 08/02/2009 22:24

I think the cheapest deal you can get on the Eurostar (inflexible, miss it and that's it style ticket) is £59.

So 60 euros sounds a good price!

francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:26

Awwww Sunflower at your lil sister... I remember the university yrs (loads of them) with fondness. Is she enjoying it in paris?

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:29

Oh babies are easy to travel with, especially until they don't move . We did lots of traveling with ours, mainly to go to Italy, so nothing exotic, really.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:29

With the pound loosing its value against the euro, it is more or less the same!

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 08/02/2009 22:31

True. The pound has slumped, big time.

Yes - I know - that's what I keep saying. But he is a big wuss.

Ok - everyone - stop what you're doing and look at this thread. I truly did not know the depths of depravity in the world!

francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:36

Me neither, !

, I remember you saying your dh had a serious case of PFB (it involved cashemire jumpers, didn't it?), is this the case?

OP posts:
SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 08/02/2009 22:38

and could have made a fortune, I've thrown away my well slippers last month!!

Franca, I think she's liking it, but at the same time she's in a bedsit all alone and she's one of those people who needs constant friends' attention IYKWIM. At least from her pics on FB it looks like she's trying to dress better

Penthesileia · 08/02/2009 22:40

He has serious PFB ishoooos! Travel may upset her (and him ).

I am going to keep all my stinky shoes from now on!

LOL at Sunflower's sartorial sister!

francagoestohollywood · 08/02/2009 22:45

Do you think they might enjoy a pair of well worn pair of new balance? Possibly not feminine enough... but still they have vibes....

Lol at travel may upset her!

Sunflower, I feel for your sister then, I'm one of these types, who needs friends around quite a lot.

I should go to bed now , a dopo!

OP posts:
SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 08/02/2009 22:51

don't worry franca, she makes friends very easily, she's very estroverta.... wish I was like her sometimes actually...

Penthe - she's actually studying fashion!
