Welcome, ciao, hello

OP posts:
hothell · 06/02/2009 21:33

he is very attractive js

Penthesileia · 06/02/2009 21:34

I think the thing is, for me, apart from worrying about going a little mad, I can't really just quit my job and then get it back a few years later. Over 200 people applied for the job I got: it just wouldn't be waiting for me when I got back. And, with academia, once you're out, it's hard to get back in.

I think your attitude is probably the right one, Pippi.

hothell · 06/02/2009 21:38

oh, pissed myslef laughing at waht you say pippi.

can you do the same for private/state schools threads?

hothell · 06/02/2009 21:40

"you'' regret it on your deathbed bitch" a classic, well done pippi.

after reading your post i am considering going back to work though !

can you repeat the post on the sahm/wohm thread?

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/02/2009 21:44

no no no penthe it's not the right attitude per se. it's the right attitude for my position in this period of time. see I didn't have a job like yours so I could get out and I can find millions again (it was just an office jobs), maybe not in recession but ynwim. my old job would have not given me any satisfaction anymore. a big fat z e r o!! Having said that I would happily take time off from my kids to do an MA or a PHD or another job when/if I find it. that's why sahm/wohm are rubbish. as if there's one way of life and as if everyone is as lucky as us that have a choice.

the right attitude is for this and most of the threads: do what feels best for you and your family in the circumstances. (except the rinsing one of course )

wow how opinionated I am tonight... . sorry to bore you to death. I can see franca and brange and rosa and everybode having a rl friday night.

hothell · 06/02/2009 21:45

tove is a lovely name, also the finnish name Famke, but it is true it makes not sense in english or italian

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 06/02/2009 21:46

lol at the sahm/wohm riassunto!

you have too many books/authors in this thread already, I'll have to write down a list! I loved allende and garcia marquez, probably one of my favourite after steinbeck (honestly, I'm not always depressed!), and really need to pick up a decent book again...

hothell · 06/02/2009 21:47

franca and rosa were on email until recently, so no rl.

offline now guys!
thank you for making me laugh

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 06/02/2009 21:47

completly agree pippi

Penthesileia · 06/02/2009 21:50

Not boring at all! It's nice to "talk" about these things.

Yes - that others seem to be doing something in RL!

Ha - the rinsing thread was quite funny (and v. Monty Python as someone has already said).

I must admit, I don't necessarily rinse after a bath, because I take baths for relaxation, rather than cleanliness, and normally use milky, moisturising type stuff which doesn't need to be rinsed off.

I do, however, wash before getting in the bath with DD! Don't want my dirty body polluting my PFB!

Penthesileia · 06/02/2009 21:50

Ciao hot.

Hey Sunflower!

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/02/2009 21:52

glad to be of service hot . should I? is there some space for sense of humour???

private/state I can try but don't care to much about those tbh as I 1. don't have money for private atm so don't even consider 3. do not live somewhere that requires me even to think about it 2. not pushy for dds to hang out with the 'londra bene' [vomit emoticon at the word so much heard in my youth] 3. hate all girls schools 4. don't have dds that are bullied or beaten at lunch hour at current school or speak english like the devil 5. would hate to mix with the pushy parents who wants to mix with in crowd.

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/02/2009 21:55

'wash before getting in the bath with DD' - really???? wow penthe that is sweet. (I never even thought about it. crappy dirty mummy!)

notte hot. should be going soon to finish RR methink and hung washings.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 06/02/2009 21:58

Penthe, I do too, (thanks for bidets ), she gets grumpy now if I don;t have a bath with her (she likes feeding in the bath), and it's normally fun, but I do have quick rinse, a part from tonight when I had to have a bit more of a rinse, as she's decided to try out EC in the bath

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/02/2009 21:58

ps if I had lots of money and I liked a particular private school maybe I'll send them. who knows. I am not strongly opinionated about this except for all girls schools and not my cup of tea parents tbh.

sunflower I love steinbeck, the wrath smth is my favourite.

Penthesileia · 06/02/2009 22:00

I know, it's embarrassing!

But remember: I do not have a bidet, so feel I owe it to my first-born to scrub up before sharing her bathwater!

Yeah, I'm going to go now too, I think. Want to read more RR before conking out.

Prayer before bedtime:

Dear God/superior being,

Please don't let DD get up before 7am again tomorrow morning. I will be very grateful and not take your name in vain.

Thank you.

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/02/2009 22:00

FFS is it 10 o'clock already????? oh my gosh, where's all my evening gone?

basta notte.

Penthesileia · 06/02/2009 22:02

Sunflower!

Eeek at EC in bath! Was it a floater?

I went to an all girls school: bitch central.

Ok, then. Notte a tutte.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 06/02/2009 22:02

grapes of wrath, yes

can you add my DD to that prayer too please

night tutte

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 06/02/2009 22:03

no, still pure greenish bf poo!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/02/2009 22:03

all girls school: bitch central. PROPRIO!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/02/2009 22:04

oh yuk! notte sunflower.

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/02/2009 22:08

last thing, to start conv tomorrow: do you think that same gender school are better in terms of learning based on the fact that girls and boys might develop different times etc.

(all I can think of when I think of all girls school in Cat's Eye by m.atwood.)

Brangelina · 06/02/2009 22:46

I wasn't having a rl, I was watching ER.

I went to an all girls school, it is supposed to be better in the sense that it gives girls a better chance at excelling in maths and scientific subjects as there's no unconcious gender stereotyping from the teachers. Also I suppose when we were hot-blooded hormonal teenagers we got less distracted in lesson by having no boys to stare at, but I can't think of any other obvious advantages.

If anything, there were some disadvantages - we were obviously starved of male company and turned up at other school discos dressed far too tartily, but maybe that was the catholic element. I remember I went to one party with 4 or 5 friends from school. It was house party for the birthday of a girl from the rival private all girls school. All the other girls were wearing twee maxi pinafore dresses, we turned up in tiny mini skirts and far too much make up and got off with all the boys (there weren't that many there) and got glared at by the prim pinafore girlies all night. Oh what hussies we were!

Brangelina · 06/02/2009 22:50

I can't belief I'm recounting the most shameful moments of my misspent youth. I'll stop here before I get carried away and confess too much.

I'll read back over the thread while I drink my tisana then trundle off to bed.
