Hi - any of the agencies in the list above are good - ES & NC charge higher fees, so try B&B, KL, UA first - most have e-mail application details on their websites, they all take on different ages at different times.

Look at a website called Alba model info if you apply to any other agency - they list all the scams they've heard of. Never go to an agency that advertises open sessions for new models in hotels - they are scams.

You need to be prepared to go to London at short notice - sometimes less than 24 hours (assuming you are in the south - not sure of what happens round the northern agencies) and your travelling is not paid for. Unless you are actually in London the small fee for a casting will be less than your train fare. (And all money gets paid direct to your child's account). If you don't mind the hassle it is fun!

I think it's just that they are more established - have been going around 30 - 40 years, so they have always charged. They do still get the good jobs, but then so do some of the newer agencies. Have a look at the agency websites and some show pictures of the types of jobs they have done, or list their clients so you can get a feel for what they do.

fattycatty · 20/03/2009 23:44

fattycatty - i found bb take about 3 weeks to reply after you have applied to them, they seem to take longer than other agents.

BK and BS need updated pics, but as soon as I updated mine, my daughter got work!
Don't need professional ones, just good snap shots.
I am no David Bailey but my pics were good enough.
Check my girlie out on Tomy online.

Geordieminx, the Model Team's books are currently closed, unfortunately. [bah emoticon]

I am tempted to go with Bizzykidz, but DP says no because of the fee. I can see his point, £120 is a lot with no guarantee of work. Oh, what a dilemma! Any suggestions anyone?? For a decent agency, which covers Scotland, but has no/low registration fee. I wouldn't mind paying something, seems to be de rigeur anyway, but £120 is a wee bit steep.

HellFireandDamnation · 26/03/2009 21:58

anyone going to the Fairy casting tomorrow? We are!

Mummykisses · 27/03/2009 16:20

WHINEGUMS - Yeah £120 is alot but that is a one off fee, until they are 17. No agency can guarentee you work, and some ask for a yearly fee. If you keep updating the pictures and changes then you will get something. I have had lots of calls and they seem to be always busy. It can't be bad in this climet really.X

bigmummal1 · 27/03/2009 18:42

Hi HellFireandDamnation,

Yes my DS was at the Fairy casting today.

Hope your casting went well!

What agency are you with?

whinegums · 27/03/2009 20:16

Mummykisses, I know... As my DP says though, if an agency is charging a lot of people £120 each, where's the incentive to get them work, if they've already got money from them? I know they take a percentage of the earnings, and that's how they make it. It's just for adults (DP was an actor, and at one point, an agent) you would never ever pay a registration fee. Sigh. Where are you based by the way? I'd go for it for sure if we were in striking distance of London, but I just don't know if it's worth it when we're in Scotland.

HellFireandDamnation · 27/03/2009 21:27

bigmummal1 - we are with AK - you? My lo is 15 mths - yours? We were there for 2.20 but in about an hour later! Lots of beautiful looking kids so happy that mine was one of them!!!!

Casting - hm who knows?! The photographer said he was lovely very sweet and mischevious and bet he had loads of work (er no!) but it isn't down to him and I bet he says that to them all!

bigmummal1 · 28/03/2009 08:46

We are with Urban Angels, my DS is 3 this Thurs. We got there about 3:25pm.

Yeah, lots of beautiful children.

I know they are casting for 8.

My DS did well and couldn't have done any better, but always difficult to tell.

HellFireandDamnation · 28/03/2009 12:55

Bigmummal1 - must have passed you - I wa sthe one saying to teh girl behind the desk - nice bottle of wine tonight? or asking the woman at the bottom how many kids were they looking for and she said 8.

Who were the other 2 in the room with the photographer?
UA - you must be on netmums?!

bigmummal1 · 28/03/2009 13:09

I'm not sure who the others were with the photographer.

I was with my Mum and my ds who is mixed race was wearing a navy junper with a checked shirt underneath.

No, I am not on Netmums.

I used to post on here ages ago, but over the last year it has been very slow. I think 2 is a difficult age. My Ds only had 2 castings last year and this was the first casting of the year.

How many children do you think they saw yesterday? I thought maybe about 40 - 50.

bigmummal1 · 28/03/2009 13:09

Oh am heavily pregnant also, so stick out rather a lot!!! LOL

HellFireandDamnation · 28/03/2009 15:44

Oh I thought it was about 500!!! Did you see the list? It was a full page of names font size about 12 starting a couple of inches down!!! - don't know how mnay that would be. Any idea when we will hear? Wanting people to come until 7.30 was ridiculous for that age up to 5 yrs so imagine they were busy all day. Girl behind desk said they hoped to finsih about 7 so I'm guessing no-one chose the 6.30 or 7.30 slot!!

Good luck - really hope to see you!! I'm guessing 2 babies 2 2 yr olds 2 3 - 5 yr boys and 2 girls

bigmummal1 · 28/03/2009 21:54

500, really that is a lot of children?!

UA said we would hear back either Mon or Tues.

Good luck to you too! Would be great if they both got it!! xxx
