Happy New Year !
I hope this thread will re-start what was always great modelling chat on this forum..
Here's hoping 2009 brings lots of castings and jobs for everyone !

Well done on the jobs everyone.

puffling I have been getting lots of calls ofr dd1 age 7 and nothing for DS 9 months. Both with the same agency. Differnet age groups are busy at different times.

Whinegums No advice on scottish agencies I'm afraid. Your ds is gorgeous!

Puffling - 2-3 years is a notoriously difficult age - they are out of the "baby" range, and not quite in the pre-schooler range. You notice this if you look at catalogues etc (If I get one in the post I look at the kids modelling before the clothes/toys they are selling nowadays!)

DD2 had loads of work between 11 mths (when she started) and 2.5, then nothing until nearly 4, since then she has had 3 or 4 jobs a year (she's nearly 6)

Mummyegg - think it was you asking about UAN - I know that Mamas and Papas do a lot in Manchester, could be good for your youngest, as DD3 did a Mamas & Papas job at 4 mths, and they said it was a shame we didn't live North of London as they were shooting in Manchester the following week, and they do a lot there. (Think it's quite close to their Head Office)

DD3 has just done M&S baby girls, DD2 had a casting yesterday for Tesco back-to-school - more of an interview than a casting, they just asked her questions, chatted to her, didn't take any pics. She also has a New Look casting Monday after school.

So, has anyone here any thoughts/advice/experience of child modelling in Scotland?? Surely there must be some going on up here?!

My cousin's best friend does TV commercials and he's based in Edinburgh, but (AFAIK) he's still expected to travel a fair bit.. (he's 14YO)

But there are def. agencies in Scotland. Sorry not to be more help, Whinegums!

Geordieminx - we meet again! I've googled them - they look pukka. Did you pay any fee and has your DS had much work with them?

Whinegums, no start up fee, I just took ds along, they took some pics and accepted him. Honestly, very little work, but I think thats due to being up here - when I first went to see them they were honest and said most of the work is down sarf . They take 15% of any earnings

We had a casting just after xmas, and ds got the job he's here

Hi
My dd has been accepted by KL and I am suprised that they do not want to meet her. Is this normal?
We had yes from BK,R,SW,NC,ES. Not heard back from B&B, BG or AK. Not had any no's (yet!?). Do you think it is worth going with KL regardless? Any advice would be appreciated.

hi gjhmum.. my dd is with KL.. they dont have consultations before offering a place (as do some other agencies). Congrats on your dd being accepted.. they are supposed to be a very selective agency so your dd has done very well !

£35 for a Doctors letter! And thats with the form.
How old is your DD? Mine is 5.

Hi gjhmum - my DD2's 5 as well (though nearly 6 now) - she's had a few jobs with B&B in the last year so hopefully it is a good age to be!

It's a long time ago now - she joined about 2 - 3 years ago - but I think it was a couple of weeks? (e-mail application)
