Thanks oliver for that info, much appreciated.

dizzydori · 18/05/2009 15:06

Thanks cacahuete, I received an email late last night and my dd is 2 years old. Got a no from B&B. You can't win 'em all! Fingers crossed for your little one. Hope you hear fron UAS soon.

rachjohn · 18/05/2009 15:15

my child has been picked to join a modelling agency, they are asking for a one off fee, is that right or is it a con?

dizzydori · 18/05/2009 15:58

Hi rachjohn it really depends on who they are Elisabeth Smith and Norrie Carr both have start up fees but are very reputable. Some eg Models Direct are not.

If I were you I'd apply to the reutable agencies with low or no fees such as Bruce & Brown, Kids London Urban Angels and MOT. Scallywags and Alphabetkidz are supposed to be good too but still have fees. Good luck whatever you decide.

MABS · 18/05/2009 19:33

Uas saying the child has been shortlisted doesn't mean accepted does it tho? or am i wrong? sorry, new to all this!

Onthebeach · 18/05/2009 19:56

Hi mabs, no you may get invited in for a consultation, and then they decide, a lot of people still get turned down after the consultation, it is quite a long process with ua, but worth it im sure if you get in. Good luck for everyone shortlisted.

Totallyfloaty35 · 18/05/2009 21:05

caca,my dd is with u/a she had masses of jobs and castings between ages 4months to 16months.It has been very quiet for her for the last year though, but she is at the terrible 2 age and had really wild hair in her last pics, she has changed a bit now so im hoping things will pick up.
U/a have low charges, are highly selective and have a good client list,I also know several kids with SW who do brilliantly, saying that though thet do have shockingly high fees.

Totallyfloaty35 · 18/05/2009 21:07

oh and by changed a bit i mean she will actually stand still for 5 seconds.

MABS · 18/05/2009 21:33

thanks for the info, dd id 14 so will stand still!

MABS · 19/05/2009 17:59

we have just been called by UA for a meet, that mean we are in?

brooke77 · 19/05/2009 20:16

hi Mabs.. its a consultation.. you may or may not be offered a place with UA once they have met with ur dd they will make a decision from there.. well done for getting this far and good luck !!

Weldone mabs and dizzi!..that s great news!..not so lucky on my side ...got turned down..ah well maybe another time!..
Would really like to know what kind of "look" they more likely to choose from ..are your babies blond and blue eyed??..anyway..really hope u get the final assessment!..good luck!x

Nik73 · 19/05/2009 22:13

Hi, I am new, had an email from UA saying my daughter was shortlisted last week, now waiting to see if we get called in for the consultation!
Cacahuete - don't think there is a look as such as they try to represent all different looks and ethnic groups. It might just be that they already have people on their books that are similar in looks to yours and that is why you weren't sucessful this time

MummyKitKat · 20/05/2009 12:47

Hello!!
A newbie here!
My son's been accepted by babymodels uk, but as I'm a complete novice with child modelling, just wondered if anyone had dealt with them before? Unsure if they are any good so any advice would be helpful!
Thanks!

sdiana91 · 20/05/2009 13:02

Hi guys, I'm new here... I'm actually looking to find a good agency.

So far have interest from Power (have an interview next week), Sandra Reynolds and Alphabet Kidz.

Which ones would you recommend??

I'm really interested in Power and Sandra Reynolds but they are based in Norfolk.. and me in London... this still good??

Also, recently heard from Alphabet Kidz... they seem good but a little unsure about the fee??

Anyone have experience with any of these??

Also, do you think £160 is a good price to pay for photos? This includes in studio and location.. 6 looks, I think.. Sandra Reynolds are recommending them for me.

Thanks!

cacahuete · 20/05/2009 14:04

hi mummy kitkat..was wondering the same..my ds been accepted by babymodels but cant find any info about them and nobody seemd to be with them on this thead.I m bit suspicious though as there s no meeting before hand and dont realy like they already sent me an invoice to pay thru paypal before i even made my mind...let me know if u find out anything about them and good luck!

Totallyfloaty35 · 20/05/2009 17:04

Never heard of Baby models an never seen them at a casting.
If you are based in London then try the london agents,
KL,U/A,MOT,AK, TS,SW,BruceB, NC,ES, Newer agents to try are KK,JMM,CM,Bonnie Betty.

slk158 · 20/05/2009 17:06

hi im new.

looking to get our 7 1/2 month son into modelling, he has been exepted my bk. am apllying for kids london and elisabeth smith. really want some advice on who is good...etc

any ideas?

cacahuete · 20/05/2009 17:54

thx so much totally...is kk kitsch kids?and who s CM and JMM?thx.

Totallyfloaty35 · 20/05/2009 22:34

CM-Cheeky monkeys
JMM- Junior model management
There is also Rascals and BK,forgot to put those on.Some agents have little or no start up costs, some are incredibly scary, apply to a good selection before you make a decision.Best high fashion agencys, ones that do Vogue,Junior etc are U/A,BruceB,KL. Agents that do a lot of TV work are AK and SW.

MABS · 22/05/2009 16:53

Ua and KL want her as do all the others except not heard from BB,and mot said they are full. any opinions on whether ua or kl are better?

we have also been called to Storm and Diesel next week too.

Heeelllpp!!!

noddyholder · 22/05/2009 18:17

mabs she is so stunning you must be excited and worried too.Storm v good as are Models one they were in offices above my old workplace in London.Don't know Kl but will ask my friend who casts pop videos as she knows them all.

MABS · 22/05/2009 18:33

thanks nodders

cacahuete · 22/05/2009 19:23

got a yes from KL and SW....which one which one which one???????????????????

Totallyfloaty35 · 22/05/2009 21:12

Mabs go and visit Storm etc then decide.KL and U/A do similar jobs but KL keeps them til they 20yrs old but u/a til about 17 i think.
Cacahuete,KL very good for high end photographic and have hardly any fees and few kids on books.
SW excellent for film/tv work, lots of kids on books and high fees.
