marymay · 13/05/2009 19:14

mehdismummy..scallywags are a good agency .I know people whos children have had some nice jobs with them,But they charge a lot for start up fees.

My children are with urban angels and thier books are open at the moment untill 18th.

mehdismummy · 14/05/2009 10:54

cacahuete · 14/05/2009 18:06

hi!
My DS has test shoot with Scallywags but waiting to hear from UA....which one would u recommend?..has anyone heard from UA yet???

MABS · 14/05/2009 18:11

i heard today that dd is shortlisted for ua south. every other one i approached has said yes, i am sooo confused

marymay · 14/05/2009 20:26

cacahuete...I would wait and see if your ds is shortlisted for u/a.
scallywags are a good agency, but the set up fees are a lot.
u/a are MUCH cheaper .U/A are one of the top three childrens agencies in london

lillylover · 14/05/2009 20:38

A quick question? Do U/A notify straight away then? I presumed that you would only hear after the closing date about shortlisting?
MABS - when did you apply?

lillylover · 14/05/2009 20:45

After months of thinking about it I've finally applied for little one to do some modelling but as per my original post back in Jan - I don't know how sucessful we'll be as we don't live in London.
Does anyone else have any success whilst living 2 hours out of London? Will it mean that we'll be unlikely to be chosen because of distance to travel?

cacahuete · 14/05/2009 21:09

thx marymay!....hope they wont take foreva for an answer...anybody been shortlisted yet for UA/S?...marymay..I read above you have your DC with UA, how u getting on? Also ha anyone heard good things about Cheeky monkey ?..they are new and their website look quite professional ...

cacahuete · 14/05/2009 21:31

hey MABS!..when did u apply for UA south??..im still waiting...sniff

MABS · 15/05/2009 07:11

I applied on Tues, heard ystdy late pm, but dd is 14, not little one. good luck

Totallyfloaty35 · 15/05/2009 10:29

MABS haveyou decided on type of agent to go with? Adult or child? I would call or visit Storm/Bruce brown an have a chat about options then decide,i know adult agents often just let teens work during hols.

dizzydori · 15/05/2009 10:49

Please can anyone advise. My ds has been accepted by KL, turned down by MOT (they're not taking ANY little ones), (still waiting on UA and B&B).Should I accept KL as I was over the moon or wait for the others? Your opinions are much appreciated.

marymay · 15/05/2009 11:06

Hello Totally

cacahuete...My children are older ds 10 and dd 13 when they are older unless they are really lucky they might only get a few jobs a year.some children work a lot more, but its really up to the client what look they are after. You really have to take it as a bit of fun
some people take it very hard if thier children do not get calls and get REALLY stressed out about it .
My two have done some great jobs with U/A
photographic work and a little tv.
Modelling jobs and castings are really like buses nothing for ages then two might come along at once.thats what my kids like about it .
good luck

Totallyfloaty35 · 15/05/2009 11:23

hi Mary, how are you?
KL good agency, one of the top 3 for kids, others being u/a and bruceb.U/a very popular but application process takes a while, you wont be offered contract until maybe mid june.
They get massive amount of applicants and are a busy agency,my dd is with u/a,we have been with kl/bb for my other dds and find u/a nicer to deal with.BUT any of those 3 are worth going with, they are all very selective and have low fees.

dizzydori · 15/05/2009 11:29

Thanks Totally, UA do sound really great and I've heard nothing but good about them. It's great getting your opinion as you dds have modelled for all the top 3 agencies, they must be gorgeous . I'll wait patiently and see what transpires.

dizzydori · 15/05/2009 13:32

Lillylover do you live Midlands or North? If so UA are still looking for models until Monday.

lillylover · 15/05/2009 17:41

Dizzydori I live in Dorset. I've bitten the bullet and applied for my little one (10 months) but don't know whether the work is all London based or whether there'll be some work in other locations ie. Southampton etc.
At the mo I've only applied to Urban Angels as I've heard they're the best in the business but I guess that means thousands of applicants and a long wait ahead!

cacahuete · 15/05/2009 18:26

thx ladies for ur precious advice...till new to all this..still very undecided!..from reading thread , i d really like an answer from UA and wd go with them if positive....for now been accepted at SW , kitsch kids, BK, cheeky monkey, babyshak , tuesday child , allsorts....but dont know where to go ..what u think of these???are they any good???...very confused and dont wanna get ripped off! wat ya think??help appreciated pls!...

dizzydori · 15/05/2009 21:38

Beautiful part of the country lillylover, I think a lot of the the work is in London. I could be wrong but I'm sure someone will be along soon with more knowledge. Indeed UA are one of the best so good luck with them.

Cacahuete have you applied to KL or B&B? Both are good and don't charge fees. I'm waiting to hear from UA and B&B. I hear they're the top 3.

cacahuete · 15/05/2009 22:40

dizzydori, yes applied for BB but got a no.Need to process prints for KL as heard many times they r good...did u get answer from BB?...good luck to all

dizzydori · 16/05/2009 07:38

cacahuete no answer as yet from B&B and I'm gathering as UA are so popular and good it may take a while to hear from them too. Good luck with KL and UA.

dizzydori · 17/05/2009 22:10

Just heard from UAS dd has been shortlisted . Good luck all to all who've applied.

oliverboliverbutt · 18/05/2009 10:44

hi there,
i'm new to this thread.
My dd was with scallywags for three years. during that time their fees kept going up, they kept taking on more and more children and they got more and more crap at their job.
we finally left, after my dd going from getting lots of work to competing with about 200 more kids in her own agency.
their fees are just rediculous, imo. no need for it.

Both my kids are now with UAS. They are much better. low yearly fee, they are selective and both of my kids have got quite a lot of work, straight bookings and castings for oth tv and photographic work.
They are also very nice and know what they are doing.

So if you had to choose between the two, go with UA.

cacahuete · 18/05/2009 14:25

thx Oliver...still waiting to hear fromUA though...hope they will give me an answer today!....Weldone Dizzydori for your DD!..you must be shuffed!...did they call you or sent you email?...would thhey still send you email if not positif?...if nothing then will go with Scalliwags.Anyone heard ofKitch kids or Baby models uk?...been accepted but i d rather go for something more established like SW.Oliver..how old are you DC?..My DS is 5 months old...dont kow if there s lots of babies that age or not working for UA...later!x
