Boys names - quick poll

Don't know what sex I'm having but we're struggling to pick a boys name. All seem to be "taken" - in fact 2 potentials have been taken in last 2 days!

But, bit shy about posting this now, we both like teh name...Jesse.

Will he get laughed at (You big jessy) or have a lifetime of saying "Yes, Jesse, you know, just like Jesse James"

Opinions please.

If you had another boy you could call him Anthony and then you'd have your very own Ant and Dec

LOL - that's a long a similar lines of why I'd want my next child (if I ever get one - got to persaude DH first) to have a name starting with T - I've already got Terminator 1 and 2 - need the 3rd now

bundle · 15/03/2005 13:56

i know a girl called Shea (dunno if it's after shea butter..)

Lonelymum · 15/03/2005 13:57

My Dec precedes that twit of Ant and Dec fame I would just like to point out! And my choosing of Finbar preceded the advent of the Rubbadubbers too.

Tinker · 15/03/2005 13:57

Columbus is great! Love Amadeus but think a foot would have to be put down somewhere.

Most little Ryans are named after Ryan Giggs btw.

Gwenick · 15/03/2005 13:58

Jesse Amadeus - got quite a ring to it

Lonelymum · 15/03/2005 13:59

LOVE Amadeus and loved your comment about the foot too!!! I would like to have an Immanuel if I ever had a fling with a Frenchman.

Tinker · 15/03/2005 14:00

Yes, love loads of French names but how do you get away with those if no connection?

Tinker i like Leo (would have suited ds2 as well) but couldn?t use it thanks to Tony Blair (sigh...he?s to blame for so much!)
Agree with lonleymum you shd go with what you like, imposs to please everyone. My mum really dislikes both DS1 and DD?s names (they are a bit ?old fashioned, dear?, she says!)

How are you going to pronounce it - Jess or Jessie? Makes a big difference - Jess sounds manly; while Jessie's a bit girly...

bundle · 15/03/2005 14:02

those are lovely names cod. better than patrick (no offence to any patricks btw) imo

Janh · 15/03/2005 14:03

Dec has a brother called Dermot, lockets! (I like Ant and Dec so I think that's a good thing )

Lonelymum · 15/03/2005 14:03

Greek? Athene? Do tell. I revealed my sons' names.

WideWebWitch · 15/03/2005 14:04

I like Caspar too. So what if there's no connection Tinks, you want a French name, have one! Do you have a girls name then? Or do you know it's a boy?

Tinker · 15/03/2005 14:04

Do you think you get away with more exotic, non-indigenous-country names for girls though than boys? My daughter has Greek name as well.

I'm going to have a girl after all this angst aren't I?

we've got no Jewish (well apart from a cousin who married a jew - so he's not blood related) connection - or Scottish (apart from brother having lived up there for 7yrs) yet we've got Yehudi and Scott as middle names
