Sorry, you have secondaries, in the bones and in the liver.

The total fucker is, because he takes aspirin(some equivalent)he can not have a biopsy for three weeks until his blood regulates.

So until then, we have no chemo session times, ergo, I can not arrange to go to Dublin once a month, to allow my DS(7) to ram his memory banks full of his Grandad.

I feel helpless and useless and utterly devoid of power(wrong word)

Ah...has it already been moved then? [dopey]

BreevandercampLGJ · 26/10/2008 22:04

Buda

He is in Beaumont, thankfully most of it under VHI.

Bubbles, you have no idea how much I need our dinner and chat and (oh did I mention wine )

GGG

Thank you my wonderful friend.....it makes our date at the beginning of XXX look suspect. All available cash will have to go on travelling to Dublin once if not twice a month.

Oh I missed this LGJ so sorry to hear this.

chipmonkey · 27/10/2008 19:12

Bree, if you need anything while you're over, I'm only working 2 days a week in November so could run errands if needs be and Beaumont quite accessible for me as it's on the Nort-soide!

Oh LGJ! I don't know how I missed this. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's illness. You and he are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that the biopsy gives better news than you are expecting.
Bless you my friend.

My Dad is very upbeat today, and very black about the situation he finds himself in. He had me in stitches on the phone earlier today.

Will post in bit...

So sorry to hear this LGJ I remember this time last year's thread as my dad was having radiotherapy at the time. He too had the all clear in April. Hope the tests bring more positive news.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/10/2008 20:41

That's good to hear Bree .

chipmonkey · 29/10/2008 01:00

I am so sorry about your Dad LGJ.

The uncertainty is so draining as is the feeling of being in the hands of others, hoping they will care as much for the health of your parent as you do.

I hope the news you get is as good as it can be

Hallowean

It was funny to me, and may not be funny to you lot. But here goes, yesterday it was time for my parents to re start their indoor winter bowling.

My Dad is from a large family and one of his brothers also played in the club, so the conversation went like this.

LGJ > Oh you are going to have to tell his brother John.

LGJs Mum > John is dead about five years.

LGJ > Course he is, I meant Peter.

LGJs Mum > Peter died four years ago....

LGJ > FFS which one is in the bowling club..

LGJs Mum > David

LGJ > Ah yes David, you are going to have to tell him....

LGJ's Mum > He doesn't bowl anymore, he has very bad alzheimers...

LGJs Dad > Take it from me, I would rather have all my marbles and know I was dying, than be confused as buggery and think I was OK.

Two points to note,

One: We are not close to my Dads family at all, they are odd to say the least.....

Two: My DDad has a very black sense of humour.

It probably won't make anyone else laugh, but it showed me that my DDad is alive and well and his sense of humour is intact.

LGJ lovely

It made me and DH laugh

Hope you are OK

Carmenere · 29/10/2008 21:12

he is a fortunate man not only to be able indulge in a bit of black humour but to have a lovely daughter like you xxx

hunkermunker · 29/10/2008 21:33

He sounds like the kind of person from whom it is very likely one would inherit loveliness. It would appear you did!

ComeOVeneer · 29/10/2008 21:42

So sorry hear about this LGJ. RL has been interferring with my mn time recently. As you know I'm not religious but I will send positive vibes your and your father's way. Hope for good news from the investigations.

BreevandercampLGJ · 29/10/2008 23:28

Thanks guys, he is funny and black, and it is helping.

LOL, Bree, that's like something out of a sitcom!

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/10/2008 09:05

That is funny Bree .

Still hoping that today brings good news.

Buda · 30/10/2008 09:08

LOL Bree - he does have a sense of humour!

Was he meaning his brother was confused or you??!!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/10/2008 13:33

LOLOL! Very funny

Humour crops up at the most bizarre times. When my nan was very very poorly in hospital in her final days, my brothers and I got a fit of the giggles around her bed and felt awful about it, but, someone, not sure who, cracked a joke about expecting Bella Lugosi/Peter Cushing to turn up and that was it.

Years later, I can see that having a sense of humour is a very healthy way of working through things sometimes, and very appropriate. I'm sure your dad would hate people to tiptoe around him. In fact, he'd want as many laughs as he could get in, I'm sure.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/10/2008 17:03

Hoping your silence doesn't mean that the biopsy brought bad news...

BreevandercampLGJ · 01/11/2008 08:33

Sorry

I was organising the annual awards dinner at work so was missing on Thursday and last night I dipped a toe into RL.

He had the biopsy on Thursday and will get the results on Wednesday of next week.

I have to take Master LGJ to his First Holy Communion Classes, then go shopping for dinner. Mars and Bubble are coming to dinner and for a sleepover.
