Thought I'd start a new thread as the other was getting a bit long!

Now where were we?

OP posts:
Tissy · 26/04/2003 10:06

I meant parcel, of course!!

ninja · 26/04/2003 11:04

Well then I can confess that I know who Demented is - UKP is taking away our anonimity!

p.s. Tissy I can't completely identify you - shows I've been doing way too much shopping!

Demented · 26/04/2003 11:15

Oh no!!!

Demented · 26/04/2003 11:17

Ninja, yesterday when I read your post I had a huge feeling of de-ja-vu now I know why but I just can't think who you are on UKP.

Demented · 26/04/2003 11:20

Tissy, the tea makes our wipes go yellow too but I have had no problem getting them sparking white again.

(sorry can't get my brain in gear this morning to say everything in the one post).

ninja · 26/04/2003 11:35

If you look at my first posting on this board you might work it out (it seems unfair for it to be one way) - you have been in contact with you recently - if you still haven't worked it out I'll give you another clue!

Tissy, I think I might have it

Tissy · 26/04/2003 13:30

Demented, sorry, but the tea reference isn't me!!

Tissy · 26/04/2003 13:34

Ninja, you shouldn't already have it unless Royal Mail are excelling themselves! Soupdragon would probably approve!

Demented · 26/04/2003 13:45

Tissy, sorry I meant Bea! Told you my brain wasn't in gear today!

Demented · 26/04/2003 13:49

Aha, Ninja, did you e-mail me about the Bumhugger? If so you really are preparing well in advance, it was too big for my 10 month old! BTW it has definately gone now.

ninja · 26/04/2003 14:35

You've got me - I am preparing well in advance. Partly anticipating being skint very soon - mat leave, childcare etc. Partly just my obsessive nature, I always want to be organised (although you wouldn't believe it if you saw my house!). I can't help it.
Plus I just want to see all these lovely nappies you all talk about.

ninja · 26/04/2003 14:40

Tissy was that meant to be a hint in your text (I'm sooooo slow), in which case I revise my guess! I've been doing WAY too much shopping.

My name is ....... and I'm a second-hand shopaholic, help! (my dp always says I have a black belt in shopping )

bea · 26/04/2003 15:20

goodness me! it's all getting very cryptic here... are you lot all on ukp as well!? sigh! it's all very confusing!

thanks demented! you are the 10th person to assure me that my wipes will be okay... but at the moment i'm not so sure!!!!

Girly · 26/04/2003 16:56

Well i know who Demented is and Bea, have bought a nappy from Bea through ukp. We should all be nappy buddies! ha ha ha!

OP posts:
Tissy · 26/04/2003 17:37

How did the Tots bot perform, Jasper?

Demented · 26/04/2003 20:29

I only go to UKP for the nappy chat and even at that it took me a while before I would even look, being very loyal to Mumsnet!

Oh yes Jasper, please let us know how you are getting on and have you finished that shirt yet? All you own hair I presume!

pupuce · 26/04/2003 21:07

Yeah Jasper.... tell us

jasper · 26/04/2003 23:14

oh dear.
I feel a bit like I do when I eat steak in front of my vegetarian pals.
I don't think I will be joining the clothies just yet.
The nappy (totsbots size 2) is really cute, gives a smashing big round proper baby bum effect, but is possibly not the ideal make for my baby's particular bum - it is one of the velcro ones but even with the wrap in place it kept coming undone. I think one of the nappy grippas might help ( see , I am learning the language)or maybe a couple of pins (or is that a no- no?). After his nap he had not only wiggled out of it but thrown it to the distant reaches of the cot.
Also ( please don't lynch me for this) being used to disposables it was significantly less absorbent and I don't know that I can be bothered with more frequent nappy changes.
I do like the convenience of disposables (I suppose that is what you are paying for) but still really like the concept of cloth .
I will wash it and have another go with pins this time.
It actually crossed my mind to make my own as I could tailor them to my individual tot's bum, ( and in the process set up a fabulous business called Bum Chums and get out of the NHS for good...and feature in a real life story in Bella just like Rhubarb.)

Now, is it time I got a life?

bea · 27/04/2003 07:54

jasper - beleive you me... plenty of clothies have ended up making their own naps and the moved on to make a fortune.... (but then again plenty have and not made their fortune!!!)

don't give up yet jasper! i fooled around with loads of different naps, before finding the right ones!...

started off with under the nile naps, was steered towards tots...but never made it!, used kissaluvs... dallied with cuddlebuns (even joining a co-op to buy one from the states... before the days of the uk cuddlebuns - the cloth cabin, ooohed and ahhed over ella's bumhugger... but sent back as just didn't fit right!, tried nature babies stuffables - not cute enough!, watched my nochex account bounce up and down when i discovered ella's house hemp (gorgeous! - now they've just bought out the hemp naps with coloured stictching!!! i feel a nochex moment coming up!)and then finally bought and sold many many diff sizes of fuzzi's and inserts before finding the perfect combination...

In between all this buying, selling, returning i've always used sposies and do not feel bad about it one jot as i think i'm doing my bit already... there's only so much you can do and it's not the end of the world! whatever works for you and don't beat yourself up about it! We still use sposies at nursery... haven't even attempted to use them there... they're lovely there and don't want to give them something extra to do on top of all those mad toddlers they look after! and at night haven't yet taken the plunge! ALthough the sposie i do use is moltex... eco friendly (about as much as you can! next to tushies - which are horrible, don't get me started on them!)

so keep going Jasper... it does take a while to see what works for you! I remember feeling absolutely fed up when we had our 100th leak with the wrong size fuzzi... and really unsure when i saw how huge dd's backside went with the under the nile and the red wrap! (don't get me started on the trial and errors of finding the right wrap... still on my quest!)

keep us posted!

apolgies for the verbal diarrohea

Tissy · 27/04/2003 08:59

Jasper, do you want to try a nippa Tots Bot? Email me off board, you may live near enough to me for a demo!

lou33 · 27/04/2003 11:48

I found Motherease Sandys very good, last all night without a booster, never leaked, and have poppers instead of velcro. And ds has been in the same size for about 18 months without having to get the next size up, so value for money too.

ScummyMummy · 27/04/2003 12:21

Bum Chums?!?! Love it Jasper but can't say I'm convinced it will catch on!

Demented · 27/04/2003 20:48

Jasper, sorry to hear you didn't get on with the Tots. Perhaps we have just been lucky then that it was the first nappy we tried on DS2 and it seems to be right for him. I wonder about the velcro, whether it is maybe past its best, I am surprised it is coming undone. Sorry to hear you're not joining us, as Bea says it's probably just a case of trying different nappies until you find one that suits.

Perhaps making your own isn't such a bad idea? Don't think I could ever be gassed mind you, but then you do weave your own shirts and play the tin whistle, so you never know!

Demented · 27/04/2003 20:53

BTW our night nappy problems seem to have gone again even although I have not changed anything about the night nappy I put on DS2. I bid on a Minky on ebay only to realise to my horror that DH would go mad as I have just bought another Nappysaurus, I don't quite know what came over me, I didn't even fully realise I had done it until about 10 mins later. I've been outbid now so phew! It is very cute though.

ninja · 27/04/2003 22:16

At the risk of sounding like a stalker, Demented, I saw the minki that you bid for - I agree it was very nice (but I wasn't bidding)
