Thought I'd start a new thread as the other was getting a bit long!

Now where were we?

OP posts:

So you stuff it with a terry, put it on with no wrap, then when you change them do you put on a whole new Minki + terry, or just replace the terry?? Sorry, dim, but really like the look of them and would love to try. They must be easy to dry too if you take out the stuffing and the inner is fleece.

Demented · 22/04/2003 16:33

Susanmt, I think I will need referred to your Doc if she is dishing out dodge Mirena coils!

Jasper we use Tots Bots and I have been known to forget all about nappy changing (not often mind you and I would never leave him in a poo nappy) and it has lasted just as well as a disp, if not better and if you use a fleece liner it keeps their bums nice and dry.

Demented · 22/04/2003 16:34

Sorry that should read "dodgy".

Tissy · 22/04/2003 17:09

Oops!

Just checked, and not only does my link not work, soory, but Minkis are stuffable, not AIO. I'm surprised you lot didn't correct me straight away!

I'll try that link again

Tissy · 22/04/2003 17:10

Nope, still doesn't work, don't know why

cut and paste this:

I haven't read this thread all the way through, but it seems to have lots of nappy names in, and I don't know what they all are! So I thought that I would just ask my question.

With my DS I used ordinary square folded terry nappies (with pins), some liners made of stretchy cotton stuff and plastic pants. Obviously I want to use the nappies next time, and the liners did the job not so badly, but I really would like to find an alternative to the plastic pants (yuck). Does anyone have an opinion on what would be the best thing to replace the plastic pants with? Has anyone tried the woolly ones? Are they good? Is there something better - and less bulky?

Tissy · 22/04/2003 19:48

Oakmaiden

there are loads of different types of wrap, most are made of PUL, some wool, some fleece. Mostly, they are shaped like an hourglass and do up with velcro, like a disposable, but some have poppers and some can be pulled up like pants.

We use a wool wrap for night time, as its about the most breathable type, but they can "wick" i.e. leak if sat on for long periods, such as car/ pushchair journey (so can fleece).

There are loads of different real nappy sellers who could advise you. My favourite is Miranda at Twinkle Twinkle, Morag, the Nappy Lady is also very good. If I could work out why my last two links didn't work, I'd do links, but you'd find both with a search engine!

Tissy · 22/04/2003 19:52

OK, try this

Tissy · 22/04/2003 19:52

jasper · 22/04/2003 23:00

Tissy I have just had an email from a sharp eyed mumsnetter friend offering to lend me some so I'm okay for now.
Thanks again.

Demented · 22/04/2003 23:31

jasper · 23/04/2003 00:30

Bobsmum · 25/04/2003 13:57

Wow!! 've finally found my home - a whole thread of totsbots appreciation society members - made in Scotland from girders! If only there were transparent wraps so these gorgeous creations didn't have to be hidden - oh well... - Jenny

Tissy · 25/04/2003 14:05

Welcome Bobsmum

ninja · 25/04/2003 17:21

posted on here ages ago when I was just starting to put a collection together - now I'm a full blown addict and the kid isn't even born yet (12 adys and counting!).

Very happy 'cos nursery looked at today was VERY enthusiastic about the thought of cloth nappies (especially when I told them about the leopard skin bear behinds I ordered today! ). I know it's 6 months ahead but it's nice to know that I'm not going to have that argument, everywhere else I've been it's been a complete no-no.

bea · 25/04/2003 19:51

yesterday was my first go with my own made up solution for my wipes... very excited and very sad i know... but worked very well...!!!

and been away with my naps on holiday as well!! (i started using cloth about 10 months ago... talk about a slow starter!) and was very excited that i could survive away from home with my fuzzis!!! hoorah!

really got nothing useful to contribute to this thread... just wanted to join in!!! ha! ha!... any chance to praise my fuzzis!!!

Demented · 25/04/2003 22:57

Ooooh Bea, please tell us what solution you made, I started to use chamomile tea for my DS2 as he had nappy rash and the rash is well gone but we are still using the tea, could do with some inspiration to try something else!

Just an update, not that I imagine anyone is interested but the Bumhugger arrived a couple of days ago and to my shock it needs a nippa (the ones on the website are all aplix or poppers) I have now sold it on so back to the drawing board, maybe a Minki afterall?????

bea · 26/04/2003 08:36

Demented - i made up a pint of chamomile tea and let it stew.. then added a drop of grapeseed oil in and then 1 drop of lavender oil... works well but my wipes have a rather yellow tinge to them now!... i've been assured on UKP that they won't stain... but i'm not so sure!!! argh! how sad am i? that i'm all worried about whetheer my wipes will come out whiter than white?

Very surprised about your bumhugger... was it bought from the b and s board... as they should have stated that it would need a nippa, as you're right! all bumhuggers are normally velcro or poppers...! anyway... dd is in a house hemp at the mo! they are lovely nappies... so slim and cute with the coloured poppers... it's such a shame that you have to cover it with a wrap...!

hey have you seen the wacky wraps?! there's some on e bay at the mo and the lady who makes them is soon starting up her own website... should be very interesting for those clothies always in search of a bright eye catching wrap!

bea · 26/04/2003 08:40
