Thought I'd start a new thread as the other was getting a bit long! Now where were we?

GeroginaA... back to dry pailing, i bung the whole lot in... just hoick out the bag and throw in, just make sure that youleave the bag open, so all nappies work themselves out in the machine...

the bulkiness of some nappies... i know what you mean GeorginaA... thus the reason for going down the hemp/fuzzi kissaluv route... dd just looked huge in nappy like tots bots... though i do love the idea of using nippas and would quite like to have a go!!!

Girly... Kissaluvs are lovely, a really lovely terry nappy, not half as bulky as tots bots, and really stretchy too, not to mention the gorgeous array of colours you can get! dd is not a uge wetter, so kissaluvs are fine and keed dd going for a good couple of hours!!!

fleece liners are definitely worth using, if you're lucky, your dd/ds will do a peelable poo and it just goes plop straight into the toilet, with no scraping business! euck!!!

Didn't get the Tots Bots with the nippas got the velcro version but might try one with the nippas as the velcro nappies I find a bit faffy (don't seem to fit as well plus when you wash them if you don't remember to stick them back together they end up sticking to everything else in the wash!!) Might end up using the Tots Bots for nighttime as they are nice and absorbant.

My favourite so far is the Motherease with poppers (forgotten the name of it now!) but haven't found a wrap I'm hundred percent happy with yet (again I only trialled wraps with velcro) - want to find a wrap with poppers that can be bunged in the same wash at 60 degrees and not have to be picked out if I'm running short of time and need to put it in the dryer cycle (I have a washer/dryer). One of the wraps I have can't be tumble dried and it's a right pain remembering!

It is all very exciting though - I'm finding myself getting really short tempered with the quality of disposables now - they don't fit ds nearly as well.

georginaA - nature babies wraps i've heard lots of good things about, they're poppers, but also have some lovely designs... dd's got a purple gingham one at the moment, the size is supposed to be medium, but it is quite big on her, the motherease popper wrpas are also very good, they're the ones dd is using the most often at the moment... i must admit i don't get on with velcro, as i always thought dd looked a bit squirmy and uncomfortable whenever they were put on her!... as for putting them in the washer, i just bung mine in with naps, and have no worries re: sticking as they're all poppers... also they dry incredibley fast air dried... putting them in the tumble dryer is supposed to affect their ability to stay waterproof!

yes I know bea - but house is on the market so I can only really put clothes out on an airer overnight - which means only one load to be dried. If I use the tumble drier part that means I can get the nappy load done during the day, and do a clothes wash in the evening. When we move I'll probably tumble dry just for a few mins to get nice and fluffy then air dry for the rest.

I have the motherease popper wraps and i chuck them in the dryer, have done for the last 14 months with no problems.

As to the graphic nature of poos, apologies in advance, but I find that if you can possibly leave a runny poo tied in a bag for a day then it hardens and can be peeled off easier! Don't ask me how I found that one out!

Also has anyone tried the motherease bedwetter pants? Have just had a delivery from the nappy lady and wondered how good they are? They look great.

I am definatley converted now! Have found the right combo, kissaluvs during the day, they are soooo cute and comfy and tots for the nights, but my one that i love the most is my wrap that came today from Nappysaurus, its fabulous, grey furry ponyskin on the outside and royal blue fleece on the inside, he will look just like bam bam! I am a total cloth nappy addict! I know i know, sad! Please someone tell me they are as sad as me!

Had a bit of a disaster with the motherease one day - left it on ds for 4 hours (what I normally would with a disposable) and then when I went to change him for his nap I found that it had leaked badly. Pretty sure I checked the wrap covered everywhere so don't think it was "user error" - nappy was absolutely drenched though, so am just assuming ds can wee for Britain!

Obviously haven't found the right combination yet Don't really want to get a bulkier nappy though - it's hard enough as it is getting him into his trousers!

Could it be the wrap? Do try the popper wraps - DS (7 months) has been known to be in Motherease for 5 hours (only a couple of times - honest!) and not leaked although the nappy has been very wet. He is quite often in them for 3 and a half nearing 4 hours with no problems. When he was younger and we only used the velcro wraps he was always getting wet trousers. DH and I always argued that we'd done them up properly...

Could be, Gem... I haven't been that happy with the fit of the velcro wraps that's for sure. Is it okay for them to be sitting in that sodden a nappy though? Can't be comfortable (not that he was complaining!) I'd have thought. Going to try some different wraps once I get some money together!

It's not a great idea for them to be in a wet nappy for that long I know but... yesterday, for example, I put DS down for what I thought would be a 1 hour nap having changed his nappy an hour before and then went and woke him up after 3 and half hours! Not boasting about the sleeping, really I'm not, (he is a fab sleeper tho ) it's just that I don't want to give the impression that I intentionaly ignore the fact that he needs changing!

It's just that I've got complacent with disposables. He gets changed around 8.30 after breakfast then about 12.30 before his bedtime nap... then that nappy usually lasts until around 6pm when it comes off for his bath! That sounds attrocious written down but it's not really an issue with disposables is it because the bottom stays dry!

He's not really the happiest chappy on the changing table, not really looking forward to having to put him on it more frequently

if you feel even more extravagant... try an ella's house hemp nappy!.... not as cute but amazingly good!

GeorginaA - do you have the snap-in boosters for the motherease? I always put one in to increase absorbency, and I've never had any leaks despite leaving them on for long periods. I use motherease air flow (popper) wraps with them.

Yes... that was with the booster. Am beginning to think though that the wrap was less than great. They just don't seem to be that tight the velcro ones and then his trousers seem to drag them down while he runs about. Going to try some popper wraps I think, see if that helps.

Blimey I must be a very lazy mummy, I leave ds in his motherease sandys for ages, and they have never leaked, he doesn't even have a booster in at night!

Hi, I'm new to Mumsnet, and a recent convert to cloth nappies. I'm using plastic pants at the moment because I didn't want to spend a lot of money if I wasn't going to carry on with them. But are wraps worth the extra cost now I've decided to continue?

Pimpernell welcome to Mumsnet! In my very limited experience the wraps are lovely, I have never used plastic pants but the wraps are soft and dry quickly, you may find you only need two or three at the most. You don't just have to have plain white either there are lots of different patterns and you can get lovely fleece ones too, I fancy one of these for my DS2 at night.

Wraps are definitely less sweaty than plastic pants as most of them are breathable to a greater or lesser extent. I'm sure Mumsnet won't mind me mentioning the cloth nappy buy and sell forum on UK parents. You could buy one or two second hand to get an idea what they are like before committing yourself ( or if you're a bit squeamish about second hand you could always buy a selection new and sell on those you don't get on with. FWIW we like Bumpy wraps( including the wool wraps - very breathable), but also fleece except for long car/ pushchair journeys when they can leak a bit. What type of napppies are you using?

I'm another kissaluvs addict, with rikki and bumpy wraps in the day and a zebra print nappysaurus at night which is VERY cute!

I have 3 nice wraps which I wash by hand most of the time, plus some cheap plastic pants in case all 3 of the good wraps got mucky at once. It's a nice compromise between having nice wraps & not spending too much money.
