...... do you realise we've been chatting now for almost 18months .

Berrie, thankyou for the very kind offer to mug your children. It's much appreciated .
Tbh the car only cost £150 last year so it's reached the end of it's days I'm afraid - we need to get another one.

I know the feeling though - I think I've done really well at the shops sometimes, but try as I might I can't get it below £100 a week. Must Try Harder.

Evening
Have all been out to visit castle and beach today. Got dd a new pair of riding boots too so she's knackered with the combination of excitement and tramping around.
I'm just making myself a cup of chai and then I'm going to knit and watch a vid or dvd.

Hope you're feeling okay Berrie.

Had any postcards from Tuscany Zeb?

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 22/10/2008 20:19

None whatsoever.

Still, I've got a ball to look forward to next Friday. Big sis is posting me a couple of her posh frocks so I can look wonderful and forget about dud toyboys

I love chai. What's the dvd? I've just watched The Hoax, which was pretty good.

Berrie, how's your day been?

oggsfrog · 22/10/2008 20:40

Ooh. A ball. That would terrify the shit out of me .
I'm so not a ball type person. (Whaddya mean you never would have guessed? )
What sort of things actually go on at balls? I presume you are encouraged to actually speak to people? Do you have to dance?

Haven't got any new dvd's/vids so will resort to scratting through our collection.
Will probably end up with Sherlock Holmes again. We love Jeremy Brett. The definative Holmes.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 22/10/2008 22:11

I love a good ball. I haven't been to one in years. It's only the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, but I know a bunch of great gals are going, so it should be quite a laugh. I'll be on the table with the lawyers.

And there ain't much wrong with Sherlock Holmes, I grew up watching it and Jeremy Brett's the best. Did you know he played Freddie in My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn?!

oggsfrog · 23/10/2008 08:58

Yep, that's one I need to introduce dd to at some point.

Miserable rainy day here. Dh has to work indoors so think I'll go and do the weekly shop with dd to get out from under his feet.

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/10/2008 10:25

Miserable here too. I think you need to introduce dd to Oliver too. DS's favourite is 'beautiful morning'. It's the only song I'm ever allowed to sing along to. I have no idea why he likes Oklahoma so much.

Berrie · 23/10/2008 10:26

Morning everyone.
Ooo Zeb you Cinderella you!

Do you think my sore throat that I woke up with yesterday morning will be gone by the weekend so that I can visit my new niece?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 23/10/2008 12:59

lots of lemsip and throat sweets and you'll be fine. Maybe just refrain from cuddling the little cutie?

How are you today?

oggsfrog · 23/10/2008 16:21

Honey and lemon is my favourite drink for a sore throat. Have you seen photos of her yet Berrie?

Dd doesn't like Oliver. Too dark for her. Actually we took the vid to the charity shop today because she didn't want to keep it (she fast-forwarded through most of it ).

I don't have Oklahoma mores the pity, but do have triple pack containing Seven Brides, Calamity Jane and My Fair Lady .

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 24/10/2008 09:56

How's the throat Berrie? Are plans still on for seeing your neice?

I'm all on my lonesome in the office today with lots of work to do.

But my big sis has just sent me 2 posh frocks for next week's ball, so I'm happy.

Berrie · 24/10/2008 10:13

The throat is getting better thanks.
What are the dresses like Zeb?

Oggs I am going to try to make a link to my brothers blog on my blog. There are some pictures on there.

Tell me...when I was little my brother did not cover his guinnea pigs cage up one night and they froze to death. Why don't chickens freeze?

Berrie · 24/10/2008 10:49

I can't do it...I'll have to ask them how it's done.

Dh is out tonight and I am not drinking. Our appointment with the Dr on November the 6th is booked but we are hoping that this deadline will serve as a sort of 'last chance' to get our drinking under control. I know that there have been hundreds of deadlines in the past but humour me. I am also going to try the anti depressant again without the alcohol. At least dh will be here if I go loony again. If we manage it, we will cancel the appointment. We are not doing any drinking only at the weekend stuff as this doesn't work for us. We are giving up but we are not on the wagon if you see what I mean. If we go out or have friends round (doesn't happen much!)then we will drink but we won't just tip it back willy nilly.
This is the plan...there have been many plans... but at least if we do this we can be drinkers. if we have to see the Doctor we will probably have to give up. You never know, it might work...

oggsfrog · 24/10/2008 11:56

Poor guinea pig

As far as I understand it, birds are able to fluff up their feathers to trap air and keep warm.
Presumably the guinea pig didn't have feathers .

I have had bantams that lived outside all year round. They used to roost in the trees even in the snow. I've also had one that got snowed into the metal bunker that they used to lay in. I didn't realise she was missing for 3 days and had to dig her out .

I would think that the guinea pig is not so well adapted to cold temperatures (it's name is probably a clue here ), and especially if it was on it's own it wouldn't have had the body heat of others to keep it warm.

Good for you Berrie. I hope it works out. But if you've got the determination and can support each other, it could well work. Maybe you can find something else to do/drink when otherwise you'd be collapsed on the sofa having a glass - I know that's always my problem.

And both dresses are luvverly. I just had a trying on sesh in the loos as I don't have a full length mirror at home. The first one is a kind of v-front & back in a nice chiffony material with underslip and floaty bottom. The second one is cut straight across with a a satiny bodice and then falls straight. They're both long and they both accentuate the good bits and hide the lumps I prefer the satiny one, but only if I my strapless bra works under it - otherwise someone's going to get any eyeful
Oh, both black, of course.!!!!!

LyraSeveredtongue · 25/10/2008 13:20

Hello. I'm working today so I have net access - it's been torture living without it
Hope you're all well. House renovations are coming along slowly but surely. It's bloody tiring though. The skip's gone at last and my new kitchen arrives from Ikea next weekend . Just got to get the flooring sorted and find someone to install it.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 26/10/2008 13:26

Get you with your floors Lyra.

Hot off the press. Toyboy texted me late last night, and I think he'd only just got back. It must be love.

Berrie · 27/10/2008 09:31

What did he say what did he say?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 27/10/2008 09:46

Not much - just hi, ain't the weather rubbish, what have you been up to - kind of stuff.

He texted me a bit last night as well, which was, shall we say, a little more suggestive. Hopefully I'll seem him again this week, I just don't know when as I'm really busy this week

Berrie · 27/10/2008 10:04

Mmmm won't do him any harm to wait!

oggsfrog · 28/10/2008 08:57

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Frosty cold. It's been trying to snow this morning too.

Well, I've finally succeeded in putting back on the 2st I'd lost. I'm toppping the scales at about 14st .
I obviously have a problem and need a good kick up my not insubstantial arse.
Dh said the other night that he was amazed at how quickly I could balloon. He likened me to Violet Beauregarde and said I needed to be rolled away to be juiced .

How's the house Lyra?
How's the toyboy Zeb?
How's the conservatory Berrie? How are your chickens?

OP posts:
Berrie · 28/10/2008 09:16

Morning. Cold here too, bet it's lovely darn sarth for the other two!

I came home last night from work to find dh saying it's not as bad as it looks guarding a potty, a mixing bowl and a plastic box, catching water coming through the ceiling.
He had problems linking up the new radiator in the Con on Sunday so we had no heat or water yesterday. Last night he was attempting to seal off the new pipework but the stop didn't work so the water came spurting out into the floor cavity and through the celing. He drilled two holes in the celing to help it come out faster and prevent the plaster coming down...there is also a hole knocked through the new plaster in the conservatory to get at the pipework behind it...apart from that it's very nice thank you

Berrie · 28/10/2008 09:18

Sorry about the weight gain Oggs...I don't think it's you though is it...none of us would be overweight if it was easy to keep it off. Are you glad that you did it or do you wish that you hadn't bothered?

Berrie · 28/10/2008 09:19

I stopped weighing myself when I got to 14 stone. I put on a skirt last night that I bought just after I'd had ds for a wedding. Since then it has always been too big. It is now uncomfortable tight so I guess I'm getting bigger.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 28/10/2008 09:48

Oh Berrie, I've got some dresses like that. But if we all knock the mid-week drinking on the head, maybe we'll all lose loads. Ha, like that's gonna happen

I had a lovely chat with Toyboy last night, then a very interesting text conversation... not naughty, thank you, just err, suggestive. So I'm seeing him tonight. Which is the only night this week we can both do

Berrie · 28/10/2008 10:23

Where are you seeing him? Is tonight the night?
