...... do you realise we've been chatting now for almost 18months .

Berrie, thankyou for the very kind offer to mug your children. It's much appreciated .
Tbh the car only cost £150 last year so it's reached the end of it's days I'm afraid - we need to get another one.

I know the feeling though - I think I've done really well at the shops sometimes, but try as I might I can't get it below £100 a week. Must Try Harder.

Oggs picture of your Chelsea Tractor please! Sounds great! Glad you had a happy morning!

Zeb, nice to hear you sounding so bright too. The barn in the woods sounds delightful and great for ds to be close to Daddy too. I do admire the way you seem to be working this out. You and Oggs will be able to compare notes about living in a wood whilst Lyra and I discuss life in Suburbia (Lyra's suburbia being rather posher than mine!)

Only a couple of hours to go Lyra! Isn't it great that we all have something new and exciting going on! They are coming to fit the glass bits on Tuesday...tee hee!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 28/09/2008 10:26

So it's good news all round, eh? I'm now trying to find building consultants who can squeeze through plannning applications for full residential in a SSSI (means it nice and therefore protected. Blardy ramblers!).

Berrie, I may have missed something, but what are the 'glass bits'?

Berrie · 28/09/2008 10:42

Of the conservatory!

oggsfrog · 28/09/2008 19:36

That's fantastic Zeb - it will be ideal for ds. Hope it's not too difficult to get planning permission.

That was one long shift Lyra. Presumably made much more bearable by being able to do it from home.

Berrie, when is dd's birthday? Did you manage to sort the cake, and is there any party food left or have you snarfed it all .

Dd is well now, bar a very snuffly nose and cough. I'm not. My nose is streaming, my throat feels like I've swallowed barbed wire and it feels like my head is in a vice .
I'm going to get dd into bed and then retire to the bath with a drink of honey and lemon and Harry Potter.

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 28/09/2008 21:04

Harry Potter's a big lad these days Oggs, are you sure he'll fit in your bath? Not that I'd kick him out for making my tiles wet. But I hope he makes you feel better (I read he likes an older woman)

And I'm going to start on the planning consultant route tomorrow. Fortunately, between us, DH knows all the builders and I probably know everyone else. At least we also know how the 'system' works.

LyraSilvertongue · 28/09/2008 23:19

Woohoo! We've had the details of our Lapland trip confirmed. Details here.
We're on the three days/two nights trip, staying at the Sky Hotel. Apparently you can see the Northern Lights from there. I'm soooo excited.
I've written a postcard to the boys from Santa inviting them to go and visit him in Lapland because they've been such good boys. They'll be beside themselves . It'll be in the post tomorrow morning.

oggsfrog · 29/09/2008 09:58

Wow Lyra! Your boys will be soooooo excited . The hotel looks lovely and cozy.

Had a lovely long bath last night. Still feel crap today, but at least dd is back at school. Poor dh is dyking and it's throwing it down.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 29/09/2008 10:01

Sorry you're feeling crap Oggs. I had it a couple of weeks ago and I've still got a cough now. Take plenty of Day Nurse, it's great stuff.

oggsfrog · 29/09/2008 10:06

Do you know when you're going yet Lyra?

What is in Day Nurse? Paracetamol? Will be going to shops later when I pick dd up (it's over an hours round trip to the nearest shop and I'll combine it with the school run) and will be picking up some more lemons too.
The worst thing is that it is making me very wheezy and tight chested. I'm using my inhaler loads which can't be good.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 29/09/2008 10:14

Yes, December 5th over a weekend, so the boys only have to miss one day of school.
Day Nurse is an all-in-one cold treatment which includes paracetamol and cough medicine and decongestant etc. It's a thick orange liquid and it works quickly. Much better than Lemsip and all those.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 29/09/2008 13:09

Oh Lyra! Your kids are going to love it!!!!
Oggs - just keep taking the drugs, although I find a good tot of whisky always helps.

oggsfrog · 30/09/2008 19:47

Dh has now also succumbed(?)(fuzzy head). Of course his version is so bad that it neccessitates(?)(ditto) taking to bed

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 30/09/2008 20:05

Oh poor you. Obviously, yours is merely a light summer cold, but I really think you should rush DH to A&E immediately. In fact, forget A&E, take him straight to the Institute of New Unknown Deadly Diseases, as I'm sure he's at death's door you unfeeling wife.

Failing that, Dr Zebs recommends you take yourself straight to bed with a bottle of red wine honey and lemon and dose yourself up with chickflicks and anything starring Hugh.

oggsfrog · 01/10/2008 08:04

Took your advice unfortunately re: the red wine, but rather than Hugh, I ended up watching taped episodes of Trawlermen and 'Martin Clunes and his Dogs' , which was very enjoyable not up there in Hugh's league .

OP posts:
ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 01/10/2008 09:45

I took my advice too. Red wine. Ooops.

And STOP THE PRESSES!!! I have a hot date tomorrow night. It's my first date in 10 years. It's very exciting!!!!!!

Hmmm. What to wear....

oggsfrog · 01/10/2008 10:39

The shoes. The shoes.

Ooh, how exciting. C'mon, dish. Who is this mystery man? What does he look like? How old? What does he do? Where are you going?

OP posts:
Berrie · 01/10/2008 10:42

Spill Zeb spill!
Who is he? What does he look like? How old is he? What is his history? How did he ask you out? Where are you going? What choices do you have in the wardrobe department?

Berrie · 01/10/2008 10:42

Tee hee x post Oggs

Berrie · 01/10/2008 10:42

Feeling any better oGGS? pOOR YOU

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 01/10/2008 12:16

Nooooo, I think the shoes should wait for the 2nd or 3rd date, after all, what kind of a girl do you take me for?

Well. I joined an online dating site and this chap cropped up. He's 35 (he he he), is an accountant (I know, I know, but I'm boring too!), heir to the family firm I think. And I asked him out, forward hussy that I am. I went for the 'I'm in Truro, you're in Truro, let's meet'. I'm not sure that it'll be love at fist sight or anything, but you can never have enough friends, I say. He seems reasonably good looking, although disturbingly like and ex of mine, so we shall see.

I'm going for the yummymummy uniform of jeans, boots, shirt and jumper or posh cardi or something (my £10 bargain from Bennetton - a lovely camel, looks fab with a white shirt). Classic, understated, but reasonably trendy I think.

Oh, and we're going to a trendy bar.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/10/2008 14:07

OMG how scary exciting, Zeb.
Your outfit sounds about right - classic and smart but not OTT. Hope it goes well.
Oggs, did you try the day nurse? I tried the wine 'cure' when I was ill and felt 100% worse the next day.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/10/2008 14:08

Berrie, is your conservatory finished?

Berrie · 01/10/2008 14:47

Nearly nearly woohoo!
It needs plastering, the wireing doing and the radiator putting in. We have a floor dilemma. We don't want tiles as they are a little cold and hard. We need to wait 8 weeks to put down lamitnate. We could carpet but the cheapest muck would be £60 which is a big chunk out of laminate money but the concrete dust is all through the house and driving me mad!

Berrie · 01/10/2008 14:47

Zeb, sounds good! When is it going to be?

Hope the photo was not 20 years ago

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 01/10/2008 15:16

Tomorrow night. Gah! I'm going to wear my spanx as well, just to make sure all the bulgy bits are held in. I wouldn't want to scare him off just yet!

And no, all photos appear to be recent - his AND mine.

But don't talk to me about concrete floors.... I think it was the floors wot finally did for me.
