...... do you realise we've been chatting now for almost 18months .

Berrie, thankyou for the very kind offer to mug your children. It's much appreciated .
Tbh the car only cost £150 last year so it's reached the end of it's days I'm afraid - we need to get another one.

I know the feeling though - I think I've done really well at the shops sometimes, but try as I might I can't get it below £100 a week. Must Try Harder.

Wow Lyra! That's a day out and a half. It sounds brilliant - bet you all had a fantastic time.

Poor dd's been ill all week and is still coughing and spluttering. However she's much better than she was so I've promised to take her to the cinema today.
I wanted to see Bolt but she has chosen Hotel for Dogs

oggsdog · 20/02/2009 07:43

Just looked up Soho House. It's a bloody private members club. You swank Lyra .

oggsdog · 20/02/2009 07:49

What did you all have to eat?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 20/02/2009 07:51

Sounds fab Lyra. Was the dinosaurs the best bit for them?

Hotel for Dogs eh?

I tried to see I'm just not that into you last night, but it was sold out, much to my relief, as the cinema was full of nosiy pre-pubescent half term girlies. Old? Moi? Nah! So me and the girls are going to see Shopaholic next week instead.

I spent last night deciding what I'd call my freelance business, since I don't want to adopt a hotmail account as they look a bit amateur. It's either that or applying to be the marketing manager of a well known clotted cream manufacturer.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 20/02/2009 08:00

And did you see any slebs at your swanky club? Come on. Spill.

ProfessorCalculus · 20/02/2009 13:45

Nope, I didn't see a single sleb. I'm not a member of Soho House btw, my sister is. She got us in. The food was actually very reasonably priced. I had a posh cheeseburger and chips and the boys had a fantastic macaroni cheese which was very rich so they couldn't eat all of it, so I finished it off for them
Funnily enough Oggs, we're also off to the cinema today and the choices were Hotel for Dogs and Bolt. We decided on Bolt, much to DS2's disappointment.
Best get going if were going to get there in time...

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 20/02/2009 15:12

Some of us are still at work.

Berrie · 20/02/2009 15:46

Why hello again.
We have been to a Science and Technology museum type place today. (swoosh have managed to squeeze in some proper half term parenting malarky)
Dc had lots of fun pulling all sorts of knobs and levers while I hovered ineffectually and attempted to explain stuff. (learn something damn you, do you think we're here to have fun?)

Your trip into town sounds fab Lyra.

ProfessorCalculus · 20/02/2009 19:37

To answer your question Zeb, they loved the dinosaurs, especially the moving T-Rex, which they believed was real, despite some precocious brat behind us declaring that it was too small to be real.
Glad you got out at last Berrie.
Did you enjoy the film, Oggs? Bolt was ok. I had no idea he was voiced by John Travlota until the credits. And I discovered that Miley Cyrus has an amazingly good singing voice (she voiced Bolt's owner).

oggsdog · 20/02/2009 20:05

We really enjoyed the film and I blubbed three times

We got there 20 mins before the film started and were the only ones there for 15 mins so dd contemplated boogieing up and down the aisle but thought the projection man might see her .
Just as the trailers were starting another 3 small groups arrived and that was it.
We had the whole front row (both sides of the aisle) to ourselves. It can't be very profitable screening to a max of about a dozen people .

I once went to a press preview of a film and there was only me and one reporter there .

Berrie · 20/02/2009 20:41

Glad you had a nice time.
I'm not sure that there is a projectionist nowadays. I believe it's all digital.

oggsdog · 20/02/2009 20:51

Nooooo. Surely not . No little man in the room up at the back?

oggsdog · 20/02/2009 20:53

Glad you managed to get out with the dc and didn't have to resort to feather hunt in the garden .

How's your back?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 21/02/2009 13:30

We've just got back from digging to Australia on the beach in the sunshine and are now making Scooby Snacks.

Berrie · 21/02/2009 13:55

Sigh...on the beach...

How far are ypou from the sea Oggs?

oggsdog · 21/02/2009 14:17

About 45 mins to the nearest and upwards of that to some nice ones.
Too bloody cold though for beaching [brr]

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 21/02/2009 18:29

Here it is. Or here. When are you guys visiting?

ProfessorCalculus · 21/02/2009 19:17

That looks fantastic Zeb
DP and I spent the morning/early afternoon cutting down trees in the garden to make more space and let in more light. Then I washed, sanded and painted the front door this colour.
It's been gloriously sunny here.

Berrie · 22/02/2009 08:32

Which beach is that Zeb? I recognise the two little islands.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 22/02/2009 09:09

Good colour for a front door Lyra.

It's Perranporth beach - easy for Truro. It was a bit busier than that though. A LOT of dogs. 'Don't touch the wet sand dear' I'll need to find a new 'local' beach when I move, or go back to my old one

ProfessorCalculus · 22/02/2009 09:54

How far are you from the beach Zeb? I'd love to live near such a beautiful beach. Our nearest is Brighton and that's about 1.5 hours drive away.

ProfessorCalculus · 22/02/2009 09:56

Three more posts and we're going to need a new thread.

Berrie · 22/02/2009 10:09

Ahhh Perranporth beach, home to the best pint of Stella we ever had (on account that we'd run out of money and scraped together our last pennies and I believe that DH or Dboyf as he was then, had cooking lager so that I could have Stella (twas romantic at the time)
Also home to the famous sandcastle competition.
Day one, dboyf and I find a likely rock pool and spend hours construction intricate castles, moats, canals and bridges. The grand moment arrives and we connect the canalsto the rock pool which should flow into our constructions to fantastic effect. it is only then that we realise that there is an inperceptible mound between the rock pool and the castle cities and the water won't flow down to them.
Day 2 Hunt for a more suitable site. Find and enormous Lake Windermere of a rock pool with the sand sloping away this time. Spend hours and hours constructing two even more ambitious snad cities. This time we really excel ourselves and by the time canal joining arrives, a small crowd have gathered. Ready?....We remove the last spade full and Lake Windemere begins to rush down the specially selected slope and wipes out our work in seconds. Our mouths hang open in shock and for a minute we don't know what to say. Meanwhile the crowd sniggers.

Perranporth beach I will put a picture of out last visit on my profile. Let's just say the weather was not good.

Berrie · 22/02/2009 10:13

Can't find picture at mo...don't bother looking!

ProfessorCalculus · 22/02/2009 10:14

Berrie.
