lol lol lol at gio with bananarama hairdo . My hair has always been the bane (is this the right word?) of my life. Have never been able to tame it or style it.

I think that at least 91% of children asked "what have you been doing at nursery/school/afterschool club etc today?" will answer "nothing". A good trick- I'm told - is to wait a few hrs and ask more direct questions like "did you draw" "did you have x for lunch" etc etc etc.
In dd's class at nursery they are measuring their height, and putting it on charts (using a foot for unità di misura, then they'll switch to cm. Didn't understand much). They also, according to dd, record what the weather is like everyday. They go in the garden a lot. They draw a lot as well, dd comes home every friday with lots of drawings.

Gorgeus day today, we are in the country at inlaws, have worked a bit in the orchard, ds is a good contadino. I wonder if this would impress his teacher

Maybe he could take an apple for the teacher .
Lovely working in the campi - I love helping my mum in the garden - even if its just weeding !
DD been a monkey today - I think she picks up on my tiredness and plays me up. PLus I think bing stimulated and always given something to do at school means that at home she expects more - I had just got her to play alone as well - oh well. Today she said that dd2 was to bring her a yellow present !!! Any ideas ? - Last week it was a purple present and she is insistent that she wants a yellow present - I said yellow paper round the present no mummy a yellow present - I can only think of a duck for the bath and she has one !!!!

Sputnik · 04/10/2008 21:59

A banana or a lemon? Some custard?

Just back from having a pizza with the lovely Delgirl and her delightful DD. Neither of them are hairy truckers

Sputnik · 04/10/2008 23:03

Pot of yellow play-dough

Rosa · 05/10/2008 07:23

Glad delgirl is not a hairy trucker !! - Hope it all works out for you del girl and you manage to sort everything.
Temp dropped a bit here but it looks a lovely day . Dh working again so will go for a waddle with dd and try to avoid Sil who is making mutterings about taking MIL to another restaurant- cannot cope but we made peace with the one last week and dh and I have promised to go back soon!!

Anna8888 · 06/10/2008 07:53

Franca - yes, I'm sure I still have your email somewhere. Otherwise I'll CAT you.

Sorry for not replying sooner - was away for a (lovely) 3-day weekend in Antwerp.

francagoestohollywood · 06/10/2008 09:51

Oh Sputnik how lovely . I too hope that everything works out for Delgirl and her dd

Anna, yes, get in touch . at Antwerp. Did you buy lots of Margiela and Dries Van Noten (in the know emoticon)???

Rosa, something yellow... mmmmmm not easy is it? A yellow ball? A yellow stuffed animal? (you might be able to find lovely ducks or chicks)?

Anna8888 · 06/10/2008 10:01

Franca - have CATed you. I exercised huge self-restraint on the shopping front and only bought one cardigan. But I looked at all the designers - fab fab fab shops - I just loved Antwerp...

francagoestohollywood · 06/10/2008 11:20

have emailed you back, Anna

francagoestohollywood · 06/10/2008 11:32

I neeeeed your help, girls: how much would you give to an English speaking person to play with dc in English per hr?? Have no idea.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 06/10/2008 13:53

I should imagine like a babysitter, at around 10 euro ph. I think formal lessons cost more but just to play you can have more or less anyone, no?

PS. Have emailed you.

Rosa · 06/10/2008 15:44

I think Eu 10 would be more than sufficient - I would play happily for Eu10 an hour !!!

Pippi popped into Prenatal and Primigi shoes seem to go from Eu45- Eu50.
Did first swimming today total bliss - pancia has dropped big time so not sure how many I will get in have a definite waddle now ( quack oink )

francagoestohollywood · 06/10/2008 15:52

You'll have to move to Milan rosa

Ah bliss. Swimming when pg is fab! You still have a month to go, haven't you? Getting closer !

I think I should Franca- Went to last toy shop in Vce city today looking for a baby doll for dd - Don't want a ciccobello ( have you seen the prices ?)I want one with a few extras but not one that sings / walks etc.I can only find really cheap cheap nasty ones or ones that pee, cry, sing, dance etc. My dad has made a cot for a doll which mum can bring out and dh can stick together. But I am going to have to go to the mainland and dh doesn't want me to go alone - driving etc and can't get to this centro commercial on the bus. Taking dd will be a nightmare so not sure when or how will be going - can't find anything on the web either !
Bought dd a yellow plate, cup , bowl, and shop is getting me yellow knife and fork ( bless) if she changes to red, gree or blue in next few weeks shop will change as well !!!

Sputnik · 06/10/2008 21:02

this any good Rosa?

francagoestohollywood · 06/10/2008 21:47

Oh I saw the doll Sputnik linked to in the citta' del sole shop and it is utterly lovely!
I must say though that my favourite are the Corolle dolls, which don't come cheap, but have loved them since MY childhood.... www.corolle.com/fr/catalogue/classiques.php5#2+here

OP posts:
Rosa · 07/10/2008 07:49

I had seen these ones but only 1 ...will look further THANK YOU !We had a citta del sole but it closed . It was not cheap but the stuff we have had from there has lasted .
DD going back to paed this am - simply as the snotty nose ( 3 weeks - grazie nido) has now turned into hacking cough and she is itching her ears - not a good sign. Called just to see if should do anything and he said he wants to see her - I had piante big time when I said school closed - like sunday she said (bless).

francagoestohollywood · 07/10/2008 08:38

Yes, citta' del sole is pricey, but has lovely toys and books, I find.
I have tried to do a massive clear out of old toys (like all the bob the builder's stuff), but ds kept begging to keep everything ...

Snotty nose + cough is a condition that won't leave them until the teenage years, I'm afraid. Mine have been coughing since the end of August .

Time to get out the aerosol machines, I think.

francagoestohollywood · 07/10/2008 10:56

Sputnik. Haven't bought an aerosol machine, yet.
Still following my UK ways, which were ignoring snotty noses (with the occasional nagging "put your jumper/socks/scarf whatever che prendi freddo") as much as I can....

OP posts:
Rosa · 07/10/2008 13:36

Back and it is as we all thought just the ongoing cold - so we have that for the next 12 yrs !! However he said it was best just to check her chest and ears and who am I to disagree ??
We have had the aerosol out already but she is really learning to blow her nose now which is good but she has also learnt how to pick out the 'crusty bits !!'
You know my second hand navetta that I bought off e bay for the pushchair its arrived and it is not in ottimo condition in fact I would say its fair. The entire lining is a bit giallo and we can't work out how to get it out its a Peg so it must be sfoderable in some way my first not so good buy off e bay - dh is being quite nice about it but in its present state there is NO way that dd2 will be going into it ! I will see after a lavaggio @90gradi. I am going to try calling Peg and see if they can e mail me some instructions!

francagoestohollywood · 07/10/2008 14:03

Gosh, no, I wouldn't put baby as well. You need to wash it, they should be washable!
(how exciting making preparations for baby emoticon)

OP posts:
Rosa · 07/10/2008 14:22

Peg useless - say I need the data di produzione even though it is a standard navetta that is on the web site. The vendor doesn't have one ( he is going to get mega negative feedback as I have got the mattress out and that is da buttare via ) - I have got half of it off - not sure how am going to get it back on again- me thinks I have done a capella and we are going to have to go shopping and they will say ' bisogno di 60 giorni x la consegna !'

Brangelina · 07/10/2008 15:06

Rosa, you should demand a refund and send it back. The seller should have described the state it was in, if the description doesn't match you have every right to ask for a refund. Although I would expect the mattress to be thrown away tbh, usually you can pick up a standard pram mattress for about 15/20 euros at a bimbi superstore.

How about getting the lining steam cleaned at a tintoria? Do they still do that?

Do you have the carseat already? Can you not use that instead? Or will you be using the navetta for general sleeping in instead of a cot?
