Yep, I'm a great fun of nurseries as you know . Dd started to play "maestra d'asilo" since she was 18 months. She used to wipe her doll's face saying "your flannel" .

Poor dh, hope she's on the mend.

Our house is rented with a 6 months contract, so not sure what to do. Agency should inspect it every month (not sure I trust them). Not sure what we'll do after these 6 months, it'll depend on the market.

yes my dd1 is saying things like 'guggirls' 'not nite' 'here you go' and she sounds like us (non english) when we tried to sing songs in english and would not know all the words. it goes a bit like this: "Cloe come here please bsgsnsgsnsgsnhns.hcfjkhvjfkdhnfdh not nice bjfkdhgvjkfh say sorry hfhgkdfhjk toothfairy ghjgfdhhjk this one!!" using all the words in english she knows!

ah so cute!!! Dd also used to say "bless you" a lot. Ds loved to sing "down at the station early in the morning", but not so clear, of course

Evening all - sorry, I've been away a while. I've started working from home for the company I used to work for in England - so have been a bit busy and had a trip to England for a few days (how did I manage 2 trips to Tesco in 5 days???!.....bargain hunting for Christmas prezzies for Italian cousins...!!

What an exciting thread this has been - Rosetta2 (huge congrats and a lovely introduction to this Scarmacio guy - who I vaguely recognise but will do my best to hunt him out in TV programmes from now on!

I'm afraid I can't join in with the political discussion - as i haven't a clue about Italian politics (yet).

With the TV - I seem to be catching Isola dei Famosi (although Simona Ventura's voice is starting to grate on me as it seems to screech a fair bit when she is presenting! ), I've also caught bits of the 'talpa' - but most of these reality TV shows take 2/3 hours of your time each night and I just can't commit to that. I really enjoy these shows (especially Ballando con le Stelle) but they go on for soooooooo long.

I'm off to my second gynae appointment tomorrow (will be 20 weeks) so wish me luck as dh can't make it. In fact I must make a list of q's to ask/vocab that might come up lol! I've even had to postpone my scan until 21st Nov. Using the 'nhs' system I only see the gynae 3 time - is this normal?

Don't worry about not knowing anything about Italian politics. there is nothing to know apart from the fact they are almost all muppets and we are led by a Danny De Vito lookalike with painted on hair.

Glad your pg is going well, do by all means post a list of qs so we can help you with vocab. With the "nhs" system I got to see a gynae every month , up to 34 wks iirc, but only had 3 scans (12wks, 20wks and 32wks). After the last gynae appt I was theoretically in the hands of the hospital, although if there was a problem you could still see your gynae. for the hospital you had to book in for monitoraggio a week before your due date (I did and got told off for leaving it so late), then you go in every other day or so for a check up - bp, wee, eco, internal - and if they see there being a prob they then decide to admit you. In Milan you get induced at 40 + 12 days max, I expect it's the same where you are. HTH

Lol at double trips to Tesco. I don't even like Tesco but still managed to spend £££ on nothing in particular. DP got overwhelmed by the potato aisle the first time he went.

Gosh you are 20 weeks already, time flies . For info re the Italian "nhs" visits with gynae you need Brangelina, all I can remember is that the "nhs" pays for 3 scans (12-20-32 weeks) if you don't have particular problems ith pg. It also pays for blood/urine tests once a month/5 weeks. Can't remember about the visits.

Agree with the voice of Simona Ventura. But somehow I find her less unpleasant in the Isola, while I couldn't stand her at x factor.

The scamarcio guy is not very often on tv, he started off doing some fiction, but now is mainly movies. You'll need to youtube him (whatever you do, don' ever watch tre metri sopra il cielo as it is bollocks)

Bossi is toxic waste. Why did he come back? The man is officially brain dead, yet people still vote for him! Fini I can't really get angry about as he does appear to have a barlume d'intelligenza. I can't fathom why but I just don't find him offensive.
