I've signed too. I am so cross about my kids being given a junk option every day I have started doing packed lunches which I find a great big pain in the a*se both the making and the shopping and the washing up.

I've signed it even though I am in NZ. Our politicians are talking about providing dawn to dusk childcare so that mums can work and get the economy moving. BUT there are no school dinners provided in my local primary schools AT ALL. Kids take sandwiches and eat them outside from a lunch box. Some kids therefore eat expensive packaged crap, some kids get nothing, and none of them get to sit at a proper table and eat a meal off a plate. It's just a disaster waiting to happen.

nicm · 20/02/2005 23:10

Signes - and good on Jamie for devoting a year to this project. If there were MN awards he should get the first one.

bobbybob ... and they wonder why obesity is a problem in children in NZ????
DS' school in NZ has a school lunch option (run by mums) and on the menu is: Pies, marmite and crisp sandwiches, hundreds and thousands sandwiches, muffins ... oh and apples.
Needless to say DS doesn't get to have the school lunches!
They also have to eat outside ...

fostermum · 21/02/2005 07:17
