Ciao , Hello , Welcome .

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 11:44

morning, do any of you use freecycle? if so tell me how things should be done pls.

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 11:52

no, I don't know much about it. Why don't you post it in the eco living (or something like that...) topic?

Many friends back in the UK use it and are quite satisfied, I think

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 11:53

the topic is ethical living

Brangelina · 17/06/2008 11:58

I think my mum has used it, via a friend of hers. IIRC you have to sign up/join and then you can post an ad. Here, just fill in where you live and it will have all the groups

Brangelina · 17/06/2008 11:59

There is also one in Milan, but there's not much activity (oddly enough).

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 12:01

really? that's great though.... I'm also a big fan of the ricicleria here in milan, have you ever been?

Brangelina · 17/06/2008 12:06

No, I just used to browse the site occasionally in case anything of interest came up.

Brangelina · 17/06/2008 12:09

Here you go

I've not ever found anything of interest on there, but still hold out some hope. I'm hoping to post my settee when we finally get around to buying a decent one, but I imagine there won't be any takers.

Rosa · 17/06/2008 12:44

There are 'freecycle bins' on the Giudecca you take along what you don't want and put them in there they are big bins with side doors (!!!) . Needless to say the zingari caught on to the idea - as they did with the Caritas clothing bins. I used to take my stuff to the suore but not many of them take stuff anymore. I took a black and white tv once !!!
Muggy sort of funny day here should be thundering but has't started yet maybe Brangelina is not doing her washing

OP posts:
Brangelina · 17/06/2008 12:47

Lol, I desperately need to wash some clothes before we go but daren't. I've had the a/c on heater function this morning in an attempt to dry the clothes I washed yesterday. All DP's pants smell of muffa but then it's not like anyone's going to be sniffing them at close quarters.

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 13:05

it's cold, ffs!

Brangelina · 17/06/2008 13:28

Freezing. I'm here in my felpa di pile.

Where's Hothell? Is she still in Italy? I wonder how she is, if she's feeling OK and all that.

Pippi, have you decided to go to PG?

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 13:30

I have signed up and already managed to give away somthng and possibly get a piano! There seems to be a lot going actually.

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 13:33

quite hot here. this is the new med I am afraid !

Haven't decided yet. I really think it's good for dd, and I wouldn;t mind myself but feel a bit sorry for dh working his a**e out. I am quite ok here too but the fact that childminder will be away for four weeks scares me a bit.

I amagine hhell sunning herself.

how do you feel rosa? how far gone are you now?

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 13:34

A piano??? Ikea with babies, a piano, vacanze selvaggie, what else, woman??? .

Yes, I wonder where hhell is. She might have solved her addiction to mn for good

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 13:45

franca... I am not as interesting as I sound ! piano is nothing to do with me, nor with dh for that matter but he has always said that he'd want one in the house and he'd like the dc to play it, if they want to. so someone wanted to get rid of one and maybe we'll get it. tbh not sure where to put it as I had different 'design' plans for the house but we'll see. after all, although i keep forgetting it, it is dh's house too .

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 13:49

lol. I pictured you in a long white dress playing Chopin with your hair in the wind .

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 13:50

you are right I went to check the freecycle site in milan and there's hardly any entry. mind there isn't any for pg! what's going on? are italians too proud to get second hands? don;t you miss charity shops you expat and franca?

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 13:53

wow! thanks! you do make me sound glam I must say ! the reality is I am tone deaf and probably the dds too. so piano will be gathering dust and end up n freecycle soon

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 13:53

I now wish I had a butler that would serve me cream tea on a tray [super lazy emoticon]!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 13:56

Yes, Italian are spoiled and don't do second hand (I have some frugal friends though, so they swapped baby stuff - I wasn in the UK and totally missed out). I don't miss charity shops that much, I do miss Poundland !

Get the piano, it deosn't matter if the dds will be tone deaf, children love music! (mine did lots of music at their scuola materna, lots of coro, dd is not intonatissima, but loved it!)

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 13:57

send him round, i'd like coffee and cake

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 14:00

I remember 10yo pippi being pushed against her better judgement to go see the priest to join the church 'coro' (don't remember the spelling in english). anyway, the image of the poor priest trying his best is stuck vividly in my head...I left so embarassed and mortified!

francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2008 14:01

lol!!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/06/2008 14:01

never go to poundland, should I? miss TKMax near work like mad... it was full of everything you need and more at a fraction of the price. ohh might go tomorrow!
