Dd is 3 in September. She takes her nappy off and forgets I think.

We were summoned to preschool when we got back from holiday and told that the LEA had done an audit and found that there was a pattern of absenses for ds and that they had withdrawn his funding for the term. She then gave us a bill for £240. She claims she spoke to me about Henry's absenses but she didn't. We rang the lea and it wasn't true. Our neighbour is a solicitor and composed a letter for us but she has obviously decided to fight. Our neighbour reckons she hasn't a leg to stand on and that she'll just have to takes to small claims which wouldn't be worth her while.

Bitch.

Berrie · 18/07/2008 09:48

And I'm ok I think as well. I feel I'm teetering on going down but I'm doing ok. I've been on 40mg for a while and I'm hoping that it is working and that I won't have to start the mini pill.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 18/07/2008 11:08

Big hug Berrie. Sounds like she's a silly bitch trying to grasp what money she can because it's her fault she cocked up. I'm glad you have a friendly solicitor to help you.

Shall I send you my staple gun for DD's nappy?

Berrie · 18/07/2008 14:06

You might well have to do that or I could gaffa the potty to her bum.

oggsfrog · 19/07/2008 09:27

Morning

Had any more suprises Berrie?
Is she spending any time on the potty after meals?
Could you give her a new book to read while she sits so she she associates the potty with something nice?
Buy her some fancy pants?
Try here for some ideas.

Zeb, tbh I could watch it again. It's a refreshing change from all the sanitised American films, and boy does he look good .
Think I may have a bit of an obsessionm actually. Dh offered to put on an australian accent last night

oggsfrog · 19/07/2008 09:34

Or here Berrie.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 19/07/2008 10:24

Good for you Oggs. Ain't nothing wrong with an obsession, as long as you don't turn into a mad stalker, that is. And I agree, he DOES look good in that film. Actually, he's pretty un-sanitised in Animal Attraction as well - he even smokes and tells them to get stuffed when they say he shouldn't.

Anyone got plans for today? I'm heading back to the flat as soon as... then going out later with a friend who's under orders to cheer me up again, and as she knows half of Truro, it should be quite fun.

oggsfrog · 19/07/2008 10:46

Oh, he doesn't smoke in AA does he? That's put me right off. Bleurgh. I'm sure he doesn't in real life [hopeful]

Hope you have a nice day

Berrie · 20/07/2008 08:54

Morning.
Thanks for those Oggs. No more accidents no.

I went to see The Taming of the Shrew at Stratford yesterday. I was ever so good. I was hoping to bump into Dr Who learning his Hamlet lines beside the river but unfortunatly not.

oggsfrog · 20/07/2008 16:22

Berrie. I looked into booking tickets for Hamlet as I love Mr Tennant and Cpt Jean-Luc Picard (d'oh...what's his real bloody name), but was sold out very soon.
Who did you go with?

I've spent this morning spray painting games on the playground at the school.

Berrie · 20/07/2008 16:34

I went with My Mother and my Mother's Cousin.
My Mother's cousin happens to be an RSC associate and is therefore able to buy tickets now in advance of Hamlet opening in London [excited giggle] She went online for me this afternoon however she got a message to telephone instead.

I have everything crossed!

p.s. Patrick Stewart (but one no longer approves of him since he ditched his wife for a bit of stuff)

Lyra where are yoooooooo?

LyraSilvertongue · 20/07/2008 22:32

Hello!
Been extremely busy this week with end of year stuff at school (why did I volunteer to be a class rep?)
Had three boozy nights out with other mums/dads last week so was hungover a lot of the time. I've now got to buy teachers' presents and organise print-outs of class photos before the brats darlings break up for the holidays on Tuesday (nursery) and Wednesday (the rest of 'em).

LyraSilvertongue · 20/07/2008 22:33

Zeb, you said you'd been out with someone from my work the other week. Who was it?

Berrie · 21/07/2008 08:41

Gosh Lyra, I feel like I'm half way through our holidays already!

oggsfrog · 21/07/2008 10:55

Is this buying presents for teachers quite common then? Nobody at our school ever does, and we never bought presents for teachers when I was at school.

LyraSilvertongue · 21/07/2008 13:00

It is round here Oggs. We've collected about £150 so far from the parents, which we'll spend on presents for the two class teachers and the teaching assistant.

Berrie · 21/07/2008 13:05

Berrie splutters into her coffee cup.

I used to get presents Oggs but it was more along the lines of a box of Quality Street or flowers!

LyraSilvertongue · 21/07/2008 19:08

Ah, but this way, by combining all our money which we'd probably have spent of Quality Street or flowers, we can get them something really nice.
Do teachers really want 30 individual presents anyway?

Berrie · 21/07/2008 19:19

I only got about 8 presents per class though. To be honest what I liked the very best were cards that which had a little heartfelt message inside about what a fabulous teacher I was and how much they would miss me and never forget me! The tasteful ornaments from the pound shop were the worst.

Berrie · 21/07/2008 19:23

Lyra will the tube run on New Years Day?
My Ma's cousin has found me some tickets for Hamlet on the 1st of July and booked them...but I reckon I'm going to have a bit of a nightmare getting there.

LyraSilvertongue · 21/07/2008 19:46

Hmm, not sure about the tube. I'm not a regular tube traveller any more. Try the Transport For London site.
Back to the teachers, we've put together a booklet for each teacher containing a picture and message from each child.
The collection works out at £5 per set of parents, which is reasonable I think. Although some gave more than that and some nothing at all

Berrie · 22/07/2008 09:13

I obviously work in the wrong place!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 22/07/2008 12:48

G'day all. I'm back at work at last - I decided it would be rude to stay away any longer, but I definitely needed yesterday as an extra day to relax as last week was such a pain. But I had a luvverly day in my flat just pottering about on my own. So I feel much better.

Lyra, your work person didn't show up, I'll dig out her name later if you're interested.

Berrie, yes, the tube does run on NYD as far as I remember. Am I right in thinking you're going to see Hamlet with David Tennant or am I confused. If you are . Can I come please? And are you feeling any better now?

Oggs, yes he does smoke in AA, but then again, I've never seen him NOT smoke in a movie. I'm guessing he's a smoker in RL.

Binkle? Where are you? How's the business going?
