I,ve been a mumnetter for a little while now and ive just had the most brian numbingly stupid thought. I was browsing through another thread asking how Suedomin was as she lives in indonisia(forgive me if im wrong), and it suddenly dawned on me that mumsnetters are spread around the world(the wonders of the www), i suppose i thought(stupid i know) that you all lived in the uk, so i thought id ask(if you dont mind) where abouts other mumsnetters live .I live in the south of England(south gloucestershire to be precise).

The other side of Finsbury Park from you, Bundle!

bundle · 21/10/2002 12:08

MandyD how did the meetup go?

bayleaf · 21/10/2002 12:25

Paula1 - I spent many happy hours in Broomfield as a child as my dad was born and brought up there and my grandparents lived there until thry died - at 5 Main Road - I used to love going down walks in Tiggers lane opposite which had lots of (to me at the time!) lovely big houses down it - is it still there?

tracyhay · 21/10/2002 12:41

chinchilla,

It's going to be a while before we get to move i think, unfortuately (it's driving me mad, we have so much stuff and so little room) as being xmas soon my dp will be busy as you can imagine! Especially if your dh comes in the shop!
I don't drive so I can't go house hunting myself, thats why i need dp!
At least Colchester has highlights South Woodham has Asda's, thats it, very boring! I think lexden maybe on par with woodham prices. I'll let you know when I get to move there. Hopefully after xmas. Then you can show me ths sights!

Spacemonkey, thanks for the warning about the dodgy areas. I have heard the dutch quarter is lovely. My fil and his dp are looking at moving there. That would be great, my babysitters will be in colchester too!

I live in Kensington, central London, which I love. Unfortunately as we only have a flat with no garden, we will have to move further out to live in a nice, grown-up house.

JanZ · 21/10/2002 14:35

I'm on the South side of Glasgow (actually brought up on the North side, but married a Southsider, so have been "converted". Born in South Africa, lived 2 years in NZ as teenager, a year in Friance while I was at Uni and in England for 10 years after I graduated, so I've been about!

Crunchie · 21/10/2002 15:22

Wow I can't beleive there are other Colchesterians here!!
Lou33, Chincilla, TraceyHay (by association) and Spacemonkey, and now me. I don't live in town, I live out in West Bergholt. I guess that makes me one of the really posh people who live out in the villages, Spacemonkey

Seriously though that make Colchester the most popular town represented, wow.

I must start hanging out in the M&S Cafe to try and guess who you all are

We could even make a mini Mumsnet meet up there!

Azzie · 21/10/2002 15:36

Cambridge is pretty well represented too (for such a small city ) - me, bee and babster, Alibubbles used to be there (I'm in Histon BTW, Alibubbles), and futurity can't be far away if she's South Cambs.

ticklebyday · 21/10/2002 15:39

Another one for Cambridge (well Cambridgeshire)

Alibubbles · 21/10/2002 15:49

Hi Azzie, I go through Histon when I go to see my mother in Haddenham. I also frequent the Cadburys staff shop!!
I lived in Oakington to be precise, DH lived in Cambridge too, Barrow Road and Fendon Road. Got married in Trumpington cos the vicar of Oakington wouldn't marry us as we'd lived together!

I went to the CCAT for my A levels

Azzie · 21/10/2002 15:54

You'll go almost past us then - we live right by the duck pond.

I came to Cambridge for work, then fell for dh who was doing a PhD at the University, and sort of got stuck here.

futurity · 21/10/2002 16:55

I'm in Melbourn, South Cambs!

Jaybee · 21/10/2002 17:22

Hello, I live in South Northamptonshire - work in Milton Keynes - used to live in Peterborough.

Alibubbles · 21/10/2002 17:50

futurity - I know the Pink Geranium well!!

glitterbabe · 21/10/2002 18:28

And here's another one from Cambridge.

natascha · 21/10/2002 18:52

hi there. just found this site.
i grew up in bromley, hubby from derby, glouster, then basingstoke. currently residing in south west london.

Chinchilla · 21/10/2002 19:10

Spacemonkey - my parents live in Lexden, but we're not at all posh! Know what you mean though. I love Roman/Castle Roads too, and yes, the Dutch Qtr is fab. At least you are near the park for nice walks. Too close to the town centre though - I'd be up there spending money like no business!

Crunchie - Hello! So what school did you go to, and when did you leave? We might know each other.

lou33 · 21/10/2002 19:28

Sorry Crunchie I don't live there anymore, I left when I was 19 (many moons ago), although I do pop back and upset Spacemonkeys routine from time to time when I visit!
Azure I lived in Kensington , v close to Olympia station until 1996! I seem to have lived in quite a few places.

Azzie · 21/10/2002 19:36

Futurity, my dh works in Melbourn.

babster · 21/10/2002 19:49

I wonder if any of you other Cambridge folks frequent Cherry Hinton Hall park or any playgroups around there? Don't want to blow any covers, mind you! It might add some mystery to cold afternoons spent pushing swings, just wondering if the person next to me is a mumsnetter

Enid · 21/10/2002 20:11

Near Sherborne, Dorset.

lilly72 · 21/10/2002 20:19

Born and bred Essex girl...Near Southend on Sea.
Not very exotic and not very exciting..unless of course you count the nights out along the seafront in the arcades watching the young and reckless racing there cars up and down the seafront. Hmmm. Actually, that is where I met my partner of 11 years and now father of my dd..he was in a white XR3i...very classsy.

futurity · 21/10/2002 20:47

My Gran lives in Leigh-On-Sea (next to Southend for those non-Essex people!). I am originally from Essex as well.

Blimey Azzie...small world!

zebra · 21/10/2002 23:44

Cor, blimeny, I seem to be not just the only one in Leicestershire, but maybe only one in whole of east midlands (not counting Derbys).
