Hi all, back again

OP posts:
julie4travel · 25/01/2008 15:43

good luck to all with castings etc

we were with sw and only had 1 job in a year no other castings, we changed agent and found this other agent has worked a lot better for us. i do see sw kids at castings mainly commercial ones.

this time last year it was dead with castings etc for us so keep them all rolling in!

totallyfloaty35 · 25/01/2008 16:27

Hi my dd is 15months and has been with u/a since she was 6weeks old.In that time she has had about 10castings and 8jobs,but it was very quiet for her between june and december. You can go for long stretches with nothing though.Sometimes your child doesnt have the right look for a while and sometimes the agency is wrong for you.If your happy with your agent and know they are working hard for you then stick with them, but if you think they are hard to talk to and do too much tv when your child is better in still photography,or vice versa its worth looking at a new agent.

geordiemacminx · 25/01/2008 16:34

Hiya - My ds (9 months* has been approached by Models Direct. I was wondering whether anyone had any experiece of this agency? They have asked for a £128 admin fee - is this normal?

Many thanks

gmm

totallyfloaty35 · 25/01/2008 16:38

dont do it geordie, dodgy agency, look on alba website for good agents, also try the top ones with low start up costs if you are near to london-- kids london bruce and brown, mot, urban angels etc

geordiemacminx · 25/01/2008 16:41

We are in Scotland, thanks for the heads up though

altin · 25/01/2008 19:03

geordiemacminx: Models Direct are, I'm reliably informed by someone in this industry a lot longer than me, the biggest scam merchants alive - DON'T DO IT!

You wait for a No 49 bus for hours and hours and then.......got a call today asking for DD's availability for Feb 8 Junior shoot.

Things seem to be getting busier now, so here's hoping we all have a good run

dancerdeb · 26/01/2008 10:22

Altin good luck for the junior shoot, how old is your dd?
Totallyfloaty, nice to hear your back!!

julie4travel · 27/01/2008 21:06

fingers crossed for you altin, we did a shoot for them in dec and they were a lovely professional team to work for. we did get confirmation a few days after the initial checking availability so hopefully you wont have to wait too long.

dancerdeb: dd is 7, but often mistaken for 8+ because of her height. I'm sure I'm going to wake up one morning and find she's turned into this 50 feet Amazonian from some 1950s B movie..

No feedback from British Gas or Junior yet

Altin, watch this space.... you'll hear tomorrow about the junior shoot, my fingers are crossed for you, as that was my timescale for junior, all the best!

OP posts:
goingfor3 · 29/01/2008 21:34

altin good luck with hearing from the Junior shoot. My dd has done it a few times and we often don't get confirmed until the day before!

DancerB, I heard you saw my dd in adams, we used to have an Admas shop and a cossnesion in the co op all with 10 minutes walk and now they have both closed which is just typical! Which branch did you see her in?

Thanks for letting me know which one it is, it's the one dp's family live near by but haven't mentioned seeing it but I should be there around half term to go to the dentist - eek - so will check it out for myself.

emjhill · 30/01/2008 18:57

Hi

We are in Leicester and i was wondering if anyone could reccommend a modeling agency there for my kids 4,2 and 6 months i know the chances are slim but would still like to give it ago i tried models direct who exepted my oldest when he was 2 had to pay 180 pounds them for the privalge! and never heard from them again! so am looking for ones that dont charge as have been told this is the best way?!

any advice would be great thanks in advance!!

AllieBongo · 30/01/2008 19:22

this was for em, I posted on your other thread too!
There have been many horror stories about them. My son is with MOT.I would never pay someone for the privilege of taking pictures of my kids. I sent a normal snap shot, and they took some polaroids of him when we went down there. You have the choice as to whether or not you pay for the pics to go in the book, but you are still put forward for work. My ds doesn't do castings as we were being called to london twice a week at our own expense. He was just booked direct for jobs from his pics. Be very careful who you apply to, there was a previous poster on this site who managed to collate hundreds of pics of children and we never found out what she used them for.

emjhill · 30/01/2008 19:43

is MOT.I near leicester?
thanks for replying allie x

julie4travel · 31/01/2008 00:19

alliebongo - welcome back, has your ds had much work recently?

emjhill - we find bruce and brown really good - they dont charge upfront and charge £25 i think it is from first earnings. we find london based agents work for us even with distance etc. i think there is a few more midlands based agencies on albas website so have a nose on there.
good luck in your decisions

geordiemacminx · 31/01/2008 14:41

Hi ladies - does anyone know anything about "standout" models? another scam merchant?

AllieBongo · 31/01/2008 19:10

hello. not much of late, just a couple of bits for toysrus. he'd rather play rugby, which is faire enough

dancerdeb · 03/02/2008 18:00
