Hi there
My ds has his first casting on Tuesday for Nintendo! We've been with SW since June so its been a long wait..! Thought it would never happen!
Is anyone else going along?
He really is being a nightmare at the mo and is soooooooo clingy (teething again I think)so I don't hold out much hope but think it will be a fun experience anyway!

dancerdeb · 19/01/2008 09:17

Wigglesmum
so pleased for you and ds, yes that was a long wait! wishing you all the best for Tuesday, just enjoy and the rest will take care of itself, do let us know how it goes.

goodluck wigglesmum for tues

shall - did your dd do the bratz pashion fashion commercial as i saw that on tv and wondered if one of them was your dd as you mentioned before, if so i will keep my eyes peeling for next time

altin · 22/01/2008 19:59

Hello One and All

Can anyone with experience let me know what to expect for a casting for a tv ad? DD has one tomorrow for British Gas (anyone else going?), but she's only done fashion stuff up to now. All I was told is that she "needs to take direction", which is pretty broad. I think she likes to perform but she has no training or anything, so I'm not sure what level of performance they expect?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

the ones my two have done they normal take the children off on their own or with a couple of other children.
then ask them to do something ds once had to pretend he saw sitting on the loo reading a book .they normal film them and ask them a few question to see how confident they are.mine seem to enjoy them more then normal casting .
good luck to your dd.

marymay · 22/01/2008 22:30

btw ..forgot to say they are quite low key. my two dont do any acting or anything.
they have both been lucky and done one commercial each.

Tippychick · 23/01/2008 10:33

Lo all

I'm just interested, how did you all get into modelling? Is any age "too young" and did your children enjoy it? How do you find a reputable agency and do you have to be based in central England to be considered?

A few people have mentioned that I should consider it for my little girl, it's not something I've thought of before but I don't want to make any decisions out of prejudice as I know nothing about how it works! What are the good and bad points?

altin · 23/01/2008 12:42

Marymay:

Many thanks for your advice. Good to hear it's low key.

BigmummaL · 24/01/2008 13:08

Hi there

My DS is with UA and has been with them for just over a year. In that time he has had 1 job and 6 castings. We have not heard anything since September and was wondering if it is quiet at the moment in general or is it his age. He will be 2 in April.

Many thanks

brooke77 · 24/01/2008 19:12

Hi.. I'm new.. my dd is 16 months.. any other mums have toddlers with modelling agencies?

dancerdeb · 24/01/2008 20:19

Bigmummal, yes it is quiet at this time Dec/Jan for most of us anyway, so I wouldnt worry. Im sure the castings will take off very soon and I wish you lots of them
Brooke77
Hi there are lots of mums here who have toddlers with agencies so Im sure they'll post. There are previous threads on child modelling if you look them up, just to give you an idea, if thats what youre looking for.
Hi, where are you all? gotta keep this thread going

Hi all

Well DS's first casting was a bit bit of a disaster! He needed to sit on a sofa! DS DOES NOT sit- he even stands in the bath! (hasn't sat down in the bath for about 4 months) So it didn't go too well- lots of diving, wriggling , squirming and the photgrapher called it a day after about 2 shots! The other children had about 20!

So I think we need to work on the sitting thing!

It was a fun experience though- and nice to actually be at a casting.

Hopefully we won't have to wait as long for the next casting!

Brooke77 my DS is 16 months too!

Rubystar77 · 24/01/2008 22:53

hi mums and dancer deb...
i've not logged on here for ages... still nothing our end... both girls pictures were updated middle of dec so fingers crossed.
sw contract will be up in march i think so i'm really hoping a job will come up for her before then to maybe pay next years fees... or maybe i should apply to the ones without high fees, bit disheartened we've had nothing in 2 years!
is mummy eme still here?

Rubystar77 · 24/01/2008 22:55

hi just read above, hi wiggles mum my dd is 13 months and with sw... gives me hope something might come our way!

brooke77 · 25/01/2008 07:38

hi wigglesmum and rubystar !
nice to hear you have little ones too .. which agencies are you with and how are things going?

marymay · 25/01/2008 08:51

altin how did the casting go ?

Tiasmummy · 25/01/2008 09:16

Hiya

Just wondered if anybody's dd/ds has a job at the toy fair on the 30th?

dancerdeb · 25/01/2008 10:09

Rubystar77 lovely to hear from you, go onto the site notapushymum.com and we can private message each other from there, my name is the same dancerdeb! would love to have a more in depth chat!
wigglesmun, glad you enjoyed your first casting, your ds will settle eventually and you will get there believe me, my ds has modelled since birth and now he's 6, though there have been a couple of barren years, in his little career and some naff agencies!!

marymay:

The casting was - ultimately - fine. Took four or five takes from the photographer in getting her to follow what he wanted her to do (pretend to look out non-existent window in middle distance waiting for Dad without looking at cameraman when he's speaking), but when she finally cracked it she was brill. Still, there were other kids there who looked like they were born performing within minutes of leaving the womb, so I'd be surprised if she gets it.

All in all a very enjoyable first 'acting' cast. Hope there's more
