Stnd at your back door every evening for 3 days with a waterpistol. This should teach most of the neighborhood cats that your garden is't safe. Also it is so satisfying......

captainCOD · 30/10/2004 21:44

there are illions of threads on this
do a search

MissHoolie · 30/10/2004 21:44

Madame Butterfly had a thread on this before. I'll try to find it for you.

MissHoolie · 30/10/2004 21:46

There is this one here

misdee · 30/10/2004 21:51

hmmm, nieghbour has 2 mangy mogs and forever papping on my border! horrible things! keep meaning to speak to neighbour but never see her, she cant do much, but if she does see them vault my fence, she could grab them back! or i might have to invest in some starfish!!! KIDDING!

WestCountryLass · 30/10/2004 22:00

Air rifle.

nailpolish · 30/10/2004 22:02

slices of lemon in your borders. worked for me and is environmentally friendly!

misdee · 30/10/2004 22:05

my garden is large and no borders, just fences. think dd2 would pick up the lemon to eat as well.

pixiefish · 30/10/2004 22:08

dog (borrow a friends to wee in the garden every few days- cat's will soon stop using your garden)

WigWamBam · 30/10/2004 22:09

Have you tried cat pepper? Works for some cats.

misdee · 30/10/2004 22:11

might invest in a samll dog, but then will have to stop that poo-ing in my garden lol.

Frizbe · 30/10/2004 22:13

or invest in your own small cat! although ours has backfired, as it turns out to be a big chicken and won't go outside.....

pixiefish · 30/10/2004 22:15

at least dog's poo on top of the surface so you can see it and pick it up. cat's bury it so you dig it up gartdening (yuch)

misdee · 30/10/2004 22:15

dd's are allergic to cats.

we tried last year to see if allergies had gotton better, had a kitten for 2 weeks and had to re-home it as dd1 asthma was playing up and dd2 also started coughing horribly.

You can buy a plant called scaredy cat (it has a proper posh latin name too - I'll see if I can find it...hang on...).

hunkermunker · 30/10/2004 22:34

Here you go - it's called coleus canina (works with dogs too, unsurprisingly with a name like that!).

scaredy cat

blossomhill · 30/10/2004 22:43

Orange peel

Apparently if you fill old coke/lemonade or similar bottles with water that scares them away. Put about 3 in your garden, spread out. They do not like the reflection!

pixiefish · 30/10/2004 22:45

curry powder (cheap stuff- buy it in a massive container) or pepper

nigella77 · 30/10/2004 23:00

Isn't curry powder abit cruel to cats or any animal - hightened sense of smell - my dh and I love cats - amazing creatures - I think Pixiefish needs reporting to RSPCA

Fran1 · 30/10/2004 23:00

Are you sure its cats and not foxes?

I have had a cat but never notice its poos, it buries them in flower beds. (unless they only do it in neighbours gardens to keep their own ones neat and tidy!!)

Pepper is a good idea - it helped us house train our cat. And the other idea is if you see them in your garden spray them with water, water pistol or just chuck a jug of water in their direction.

misdee · 30/10/2004 23:01

its cats. i've seen the little thing crouching down to poop on my lawn.
