blossomhill - not me - cats are? well I suppose they're graceful but I'm not a pet person. Those litter trays make me shudder - people have them in the kitchen

blossomhill · 30/10/2004 23:37

Joolstoo - I agree. How can you have cats poo in the kitchen (wretching at the thought!)

coppertop · 30/10/2004 23:37

I don't mind cats but I do object to finding their poo on my lawn. One of the reasons we don't have any pets atm is because I just don't have the time or the energy to look after or clean up after one. I'm certainly not pleased about having to clean up after someone else's.

I remeber years ago my ds crawling into a friends kitchen and devouring a bowl of cat food - still hasn't died - I personally think we try to sterilise our lives too much - there is something to be said for passive immunity - animals sniff and lick each others rear ends and often eat each others faeces and seem to survive.

Fran1 · 30/10/2004 23:38

i got rid of the litter tray straight after the incident, and the cat got chucked straight out i'd rather lose a cat than my dd eat poo!

Fran1 · 30/10/2004 23:39

Yes but cats also eat raw chicken, pet goldfish etc etc

I'm guessin they have slightly sturdier stomachs than us!!certainly more so than a two year old.

Skate · 30/10/2004 23:40

I don't see the point of cats.

Why do people let them walk on their kitchen surfaces too??? Eeew!

AND sleep on their beds?

YUCKSVILLE!

[gagging emotion]

misdee · 30/10/2004 23:40

cat food is hardly cat poo tho is it? and its not likely to cause a bad infection if dd2 fell into a bowl of cat food with cuts.

I hav e a cat, although would much rather have a dog. It's nice and all that but only really love him now and then, mostly he's very cute, pretty pain! Cat litter in kitchen , or anywhere GROSS, cat food nasty although Lottie loves it, not worked out what her favorite flavour is yet!

nigella77 · 30/10/2004 23:41

My ds did have one bad side effect for weeks after every time he had a meal he tried to lick his behind - still copying the cat i suppose

JoolsToo · 30/10/2004 23:41

Nigella are you trying to change the subject - 'eating' meat' and licking arses - you've ed me!

Thomcat · 30/10/2004 23:42

Yeah see i like cats, but he NEVER, not that I have seen walks on work tops and does sleep on bed but at bottom by feet so not bothered. Lottie loves him as well so good enought reason to keep him, DP adores him

Skate · 30/10/2004 23:43

But they just eat your food, wee and poo in your kitchen and then bog off out for the day!

The treat the place like a hotel!!

JoolsToo · 30/10/2004 23:44

yeah and if someone offered them better bed and breakfast they'd be off like a shot - very fickle cats!

mieow · 30/10/2004 23:44

we have two cats, and adore them, the kids love them too. Had a bit of a horrible week, as they both had bad tummies, and had to bring the tray back in, but they are fine now, so the tray has gone again

JoolsToo · 30/10/2004 23:46

ooh look! at kittys posted - hello mieow

blossomhill · 30/10/2004 23:46

blossomhill · 30/10/2004 23:48

Skate I should be in bed. This is the 4th night I have been on here until late. I said earlier mumsnet is like a cult that lures you in

nigella77 · 30/10/2004 23:48

my cats prefer hamsters too

Fran1 · 30/10/2004 23:49

Skate - there is a point to cats.

They catch any mice that may be lurking under your floor boards.

I just hope they don't sniff and lick the mouses arse, and ensure its cooked through before eating it. And of course wash their paws after.

JoolsToo · 30/10/2004 23:50

bh - yeah - but you get an extra hour in bed toneet

Thomcat · 30/10/2004 23:50

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, it is like a cult!
Not late for a Saturday

Skate · 30/10/2004 23:50

Me too BH - every day when I'm knackered at 2.30pm I think 'early night tonight'. Log on for a quick nosey before bed at 9.30 and I'm still here 2 hours later!

Going to bed now though!

See ya tomorrow!
