What date did you get married?

Just wondered when people got married and if there was any particular reason for choosing a certain date.

We got married on the 17th February. Nothing to do with it being near Valentines day. I get very hot and sweaty in the summer and didn't want a shiny face and wet armpits on my big day
Also its a bit of a miserable time of year as everyones getting fed up with the winter. Thought it would give everyone something to look forward to. Also we knew it would be cold so people didn't have to worry about what to wear (British summers are so unpredictable!)

I sound like I'm trying to justify my reasons for choosng February!

Wonder what is the most popular month?

We got married on 6 September 1997.

Anyone remember what happened on that day?

Seemed like a good idea at the time. Hubby gets hayfever, bil had uni finals, september lovely time in scotland.

All went according to plan until the week before...

Friday 16th September 1988

lots of things happen in my family on Friday 16th (not necessarily September though) - my daughter was attacked by a dog and had part of her top lip bitten off, my son stuck a garden fork through his foot, I had an operation, and I had my first date with dp (which was a roaring success btw). Weird.

Friday 13th July! I wore black (I was a bit of a drama queen in those days.) We only did it cos DH needed a visa. So nobody thought it would last. But next year we celebrate our 15th anniversary so ya boo sucks to them!

we got married 10.11.01 which dh was delighted..sad a s he is that no matter which way wrote it or upside down it would eternally be the same which he thought was a good omen...he did only realise that while on honeymoon...lol
It was a lovely day no rain and quite warm funny for november

TW - Princess Diana's funeral? What a day to get married on!

Mine was 28 OCtober 1995. Oh gosh - my anniversary is next week - I had forgotten!!

I've got a better one to remember: 11th September! Although not 2001, it means a) dh will never forget our anniversary, but b) I feel guilty to celebrate every year!!

6 December last year, beautiful cold grey winters day with candles and greenery everywhere, a beautiful country winter wedding without a hint of Christmassyness.

www - I recommend early dec, people starting to feel festive but not too christmas-themed.

17th December 2000 which was a Sunday. We wanted to get married on DH's 50th which was on the 15th but everywhere was booked up so we plumped for the Sunday instead.

TW - we went to a wedding the week before. That was the most surreal hangover I've ever had! Our friends say that everyone always remembers their weddng anniversary, but the cards always arrive about 3 days later. Hmm, nothing to do with the never ending news reports, then!

31st October 2003 so about to celebrate our 1st anniversary next week.
Samhain/halloween has always been our fave time of year and despite being fully booked the registry office said they'd fit us in when we told them we'd be wearing fancy dress!!!

Got married on 23rd August because it was 5 yrs to the day of our first meeting - aww! (it was a Wednesday which probably wasn't so good for our guests !)

27th October - third anniversary is a week away! Wanted to go to Thailand for honeymoon, so didn't want to go in the rainy season (caught the tail end of it - like standing under a tap on full!). DH's birthday and the anniversary we met are both 27ths and we didn't want a summer wedding as men in wool suits in the sweltering heat is cruelty, I reckon
