Morning everyone!
Here's the new threadx

OP posts:
michaelad · 13/08/2007 20:19

OK, will try again in September..

michaelad · 13/08/2007 20:20

Need to go now but will post more tomorrow..sorry!

mummyeme · 13/08/2007 20:24

Without saying too much, my experience hasn't been good, I won't get started but seriously try NCA they're really friendly and can allways tell you if you're child has been put forward for many things. I was impressed with the castings we got and they have quite a bit to do with saatchi and saatchi (one job was purely NCA kids). It isn't a bad bet at allx

OP posts:
mummyeme · 13/08/2007 20:25

NCA are Norrie Carr Agencyx

OP posts:
michaelad · 14/08/2007 08:12

mummy, I have now applied to NCA. Aswell as BB&B, KL, MOT, Bizzykidz and Alphabetkidz. Will try B&B and UA again in October time since there books are closed atm.

Does anyone else have bad experiences with Bizzykidz?

julie4travel · 14/08/2007 08:24

michaelad - two bk kids were at a casting i went to last week and i know people who have work from them.
they are very particular in documentation you have to keep the drs letters up to date etc to make sure you are put forward for jobs as licences could be required etc
the numbers on their books are larger than bb etc yet saying that they should be smaller than sw, they do quite a bit of tv work aswell as photographic. i applied for my kids last year and i did get a no so they do not take on every kid that applies.
nc fees are over £120 aswell and they charge for assesment the same as sw do (they were aug last year when we went for assesment).

michaelad · 14/08/2007 08:53

...really don't know what to do now. Have 28 days to decide re. Bizzykidz and Scallywags contracts runs out at the same time too. Maybe I should just go the opposite way and not renew or apply somewhere else at all but leave it be for a few years.

It is still alot of money and we didn't have a single job with Scallywags last year! Mind you, they have 1000 kids on their books

dellgirl13 · 14/08/2007 09:03

i have just applied to nca . i was with them as a child as was my sister brother and auntie. however she states you should be within 1 hour of central london.

3littlepigs · 14/08/2007 09:07

michaelad, i have little ones and have seen scallywags kids at castings/jobs but never bizzykidz. Think people have commented that bizzykidz are good for older children but not having any personal experience i can't comment! Not sure how old yours are but generally between the ages of 18-36months things are quiet even with the top agencies as toddlers are generally labelled as being 'difficult' to work with!!!!!! I would get replies from all the agencies and then make a decision....most are quick to respond. Good luck and keep us posted

michaelad · 14/08/2007 09:10

ds in question is 26 months and can turn into the devil at the drop of a hat atm Have a look at my profile if you want.

I will definitely keep you posted!

dellgirl13 · 14/08/2007 09:43

michaelad-who are mot and kl. i have found allsorts, little acorns and rascals and truly scrumptious. i am applying to all i can and evaluate the ones who accept them

julie4travel · 14/08/2007 10:09

dellgell- mot are mot junior and kl is kids london. i believe kids london dont charge to join and get some high profile jobs
ts fees are quite a bit my dd joined them in jan this year, was a long wait as i initially applied may last year

3littlepigs · 14/08/2007 10:15

...........avoid little acorns and models direct!

dellgirl13 · 14/08/2007 10:32

thanks for advice have applied to little acorns but will stear clear

michaelad · 14/08/2007 11:14

it's just so tricky trying to figure out whether the agencies are worth it or whether you might aswell burn your money straight away

Tinkerbel5 · 14/08/2007 13:06

cledjach definately go with bruce & brown they are a very good agency, my dd is with them

michaelad spend the next 28 days applying to all the best agencies and wait until you get a reply from them before you decide, if you havnt had anything from scallywags in a year so far I would definately find another agency

FooFooTrue · 14/08/2007 13:20

I think KL are a really good agency, and the fact that you dont have to pay to join shows that. I have just quit my dd (23 months) from them as she wasn't liking the shoots but from Feb-July she had 10 or more castings and 4 jobs.

writingmummy · 14/08/2007 13:50

Hello everyone!
I've just joined and I'm after some advice on this subject...is anyone here from the North West? I've got my ds in BizzyKidz and a manchester based agency called Kidz Ltd. I'm not sure what to do, just applied to MOT but I'm thinking a local one might put ds in for local castings...is that the way it works or should I just expect castings from all over the place??!! And do any agencies offer travel expenses for this?
Thanks

dreadlocks · 14/08/2007 20:19

Michaelad,
Have you spoken to Scallywags re lack of jobs last year,I don't think it would be unreasonable to speak to them and expalin your concerns as it is a lot of money. We have been with them a couple of years have definitely had more castings this year than last (though my ds is a lot older than yours). i think ther is definely a large element of luck involved, we had a patch with nothing for 6 months and then a patch with a job /casting every fortnight.
Hope this helps.

mummyeme · 15/08/2007 11:39

Good point, michaelad I would definitely speak to Scallywagsx Hope it all goes wellx

OP posts:
michaelad · 15/08/2007 14:08

Had a No from KL today. I hate the way the letter says "it could be one of these 4 reasons..location, age range, already have one of his type or not photogenic" Ah well, I will speak to Scallywags before I turn down their rejoining letter.

mummyeme · 15/08/2007 15:55

Michaelad, Well, you know that it isn't to do with being photogenic, because he's already a model. Dancerdebs with KL and she said she had 2 nos from them before they said yes 3rd time cos they were woried about her location. But hey you did well to get Scallywags, they're quite high profile and well known, if I were you give them a call I'm sure they'd be glad to speak to you and it would put ds into their minds for any work coming up.

Rubystar77 · 15/08/2007 23:36

hi everyone, not been on here for a while..
michealad- i've got one with scallywags(8months) and one with bk (20 months) both been with them about 5 months, not had nothing yet but bk let me know jobs she was picked for but never got on clients shortlist, had one casting with scallywags which was cancelled and a fitting that couldn't make..
i hate it when renewal time comes round... you never know what decision to make, do you have 2kids that do modelling? as sw works out expensive... have you had many jobs with sw? they seem to get more jobs around the age of 3-5... which is when sw would be good for you... we left rascals after renewal for bk as had nothing with them and my youngest got accepted with bk and sw so took a chance to have one in each!!

dancerdeb- how did you get on with debenhams?
mummyeme- you still not had nothing? i might update details soon as its been a few months now.....

mummyeme · 16/08/2007 07:44

Hi everyone,
Rubystarr, Hey glad you're back again! No we haven't heard anything sice the cookbook but that was ages ago. Updated her now, so fingers crossed. BK want new photos every 3 months as well as height, crickey me! Glad you're 2 are doing well

OP posts:
michaelad · 16/08/2007 08:45

Ruby, no only ds2 does modelling. We had a good few jobs and casting when we initially started with SW but then it all went completely quiet. And they are very expensive to renew. Mind you, if BK ask for professional photos every 3 months then they are nearly as "cheap" as they initially sounded. That could easily be £120 per year just on photos!
