OP posts:
michaelad · 16/08/2007 08:46

not nearly even..

TipTappity · 16/08/2007 09:32

MichaelLad - Have you tried applying to Bubblegum? My two girls are with them and do quite well. They have an updated website which has an application page on it. Their start up fees are low so I think they might be a good option for you?

Howdydoody · 16/08/2007 09:38

Michaelad i havent renewed with SW but ds still on website and i got a call last month to go to oxo advert so they still putting him up for jobs. So much money as you said for nothing back

julie4travel · 16/08/2007 17:07

tiptappity - u r very lucky
they used to be very good
i know some people who havent been as lucky i am afraid with bg and i think their fees are higher now, a couple of the mums may even post on here their thoughts?

ForcesSweetheart · 16/08/2007 17:27

I can't say whether BG are good or bad, can only give my experience. DD has been with them almost a year. Paid fees + photo book cost and haven't had a single casting. Whether that's their fault or just DD's look, who knows. We won't be renewing.

dellgirl13 · 16/08/2007 17:50

my kids have been refused by alphabetkidz due to location but we got interview with allsorts in a couple of weeks they want all 4 of my kids even though i applyed for 2 initially.

dellgirl13 · 16/08/2007 18:01

hi has anyone heard of childsplay or universal model management

michaelad · 16/08/2007 19:19

no, sorry..I haven't but that doesn't necessarily mean anything..not exactly an expert when it comes to this modelling business

julie4travel · 16/08/2007 19:46

dellgell13 - i had a pack from childs play last year when i was looking at agents. i have never seen any kids from them at castings etc. maybe google them? i think the fees steered me off and i think they had a slightly larger amount of kids on their books

TipTappity · 16/08/2007 20:10

ForcesSweetheart - Maybe your luck will change now the photo's on BG's website are much more clearer. Good Luck!

krista10 · 16/08/2007 20:56

Found your discussions very helpful! Have been accepted by Bizzykidz but have applied to others and think will wait and see before stumping up the cash?? Very useful to hear which agencies are the best, as it seems to be a bit of a maze to a beginner

dellgirl13 · 16/08/2007 21:07

yes i thought id go with the first that accepted them now i dont know who to chose. i think the fees will have something to do with my final decision especially if i have 4 to pay for

ForcesSweetheart · 16/08/2007 22:21

Who knows Tip, I have to say I wasn't overly keen on the photos of DD from the model book shoot, and she doesn't look much like them anymore IMO (I guess that's inevitable at this age when they change so quickly). I've sent them updated snaps but they only use the ones from their shoot on the website to keep it all in the same style - which means they're very quickly out of date.

onehackedoffmuma · 16/08/2007 23:51

I personally wouldn't go with an agency that demanded huge fees and would stick to applying to MOT, BB, UA and KL, I have always maintained that had he not been taken on by one of these four agencies then I wouldn't have pursued it any further.

My ds has done quite well in the last year and I am happy paying the £40 that UA asks for. I think it's a bit cheeky to charge assessment fees and all the other crap when the most reputable agencies have little or no start up costs.

At the end of the day it's entirely your own personal decision but I wouldn't be happy handing over £200+ when there's no guarantee of any work in this industry.

I have seen children from MOT, KL, UA, BB, Truly Scrumptious, AK and ES at castings and jobs.

Onthebeach · 17/08/2007 09:22

Its a real gamble when you are paying out high fee's, I paid over £200 to join ts in Jan and we have had nothing at all not even a casting, having said that I know other people with ts who have had lots and I know they are a reptuable agency, so I guess its either bad luck for us or something to do with ds's age, 2, which is less popular.
p.s Havent posted on here for ages but used to be ellismummy.

rachel022 · 17/08/2007 17:58

what does ne 1 know bout bizzykidz they want me to pay £120

Tinkerbel5 · 17/08/2007 18:10

rachel if you read the thread it might give you a good idea on the agency, some people have had work with them and some havnt, I have seen a bk child at a job, what age is your children ? I read your other post and regarding what you dad says no agency needs a child that much to waive their fees and they most probably have a similar looking child on their books which they can find work for. I would apply to the other agencies like KL, B&B, UA & MOT who have low start up fees

immykins · 17/08/2007 23:55

Hi am new here and just had my ds (17 months) accepted by bizzykids. Haven't applied anywhere else and just wondering if you experienced mums out there can give me some guidance. Is this a popular age for work? Is bizzykids good or should i try a smaller agency? How likely is it that you get a job without going to castings? I also have dd (6 months). Is this a competitive age for work? Should I sign her up too? Any advice welcome.

MUM007 · 19/08/2007 13:51

Immykins- My DD who is 9 has been with Bizzykidz for 2 years. They are a great agency. She has had quite a few jobs in that time so the one off fee has been well worth it.Last few months have been quiet but as has been for most of the agencies. They are also very approachable and friendly.

My DS who is 5 has just beeen accepted. I didnt try any other agencies as am more than happy with Bizzykidz.

We treat any job or casting as a bonus. It is fun for the kids if they enjoy it. With my DD it took a few months to get going but when she did it got busy.

I hope this helps and i am sure if you have any questions BK will be more than happy to answer.

MUM007 · 19/08/2007 13:56

Forgot to add that updated pictures every 3 months are just 'home' ones i.e from a digital camera etc. I just upload and email from my camera. I think this is good because kids especially young babies change so quickly.

mummyeme · 19/08/2007 19:01

Hi all,
Apply to as many agencies as poss and see which you get the best feeling for. And hey wouldn't say not to bother if you don't get one of the four:KL,BB,UA or MOT thats ridiculous!!!!!!! My dd got no's from a couple of these first time around yet shes been to request castings alongside kids from all of these agencies and a job where none of them were represented and after all it is the client and not the agent who books the child. Sorry for that just can't be doing with agency snobbery sorry.

OP posts:
mummyeme · 19/08/2007 19:04

I'd say to just apply to as many agencies as poss, your kid has obviously got potential in being selected in the first place, well done.

OP posts:
julie4travel · 19/08/2007 20:41

just to reliterate to mummyeme - we got quite a few nos when we originally applied and turned down by bb twice before we got a yes from them last year. we have had work since joining them and they are really good. noone knows what a client is looking for. as long as you keep your agent updated with height details new drs letters and they submit your child that is all that can be done. its down to the client at the end of the day .

julie4travel · 19/08/2007 20:42

oh yes and dont rush joining an agent, take your time. took me 6 months to decide last year!!!

mummyeme · 19/08/2007 21:26

No reiteration necessary you are making the same point as I had already !!!
