Morning everyone!
Here's the new threadx

OP posts:
michaelad · 12/09/2007 21:51

He is currently with SW but has had absolutely nothing for the best part of 9 months now..so we won't be renewing! I started contacting other agencies and have had a yes from BK and a "please contact us again when he's 3 since we really like him but client don't like 2 year olds" from B&B.

julie4travel · 13/09/2007 09:33

michaelad - like rubystarr said at least bks fees are a one off one.they do seem to get the work. it does seem a quiet age group for jobs from 2 to 3 becuase you just dont know how they will behave etc. i started my dd with an agent at 3 and half, realistically in my eyes she was ready from 2 and half, before that i wouldnt have applied her. she certainly has been taking direction and instructions from 3 years old which is maybe what the agents have found works with other kids.good luck.

3littlepigs · 13/09/2007 09:54

Michaelad, I think you may be right in waiting as I have a little one who between the ages of 2-3 had 1 maybe 2 castings!! - Now I know all kids are different but as a general rule directors think that age 3+ kids are able to take direction better (which I tend to agree with in our house!!!!) Thats not to say that he won't get anything with BK but with nearly 250+ under 3s on their books it will be a lot harder. Have you tried Alphabetkidz or bubblegum??? They have very minimal start up costs

kewbride · 14/09/2007 17:14

My daughter has just been accepted by KL. The thing is though, she's 4 and about to start school. I'm a little worried about taking her out of school for castings. Does anyone have any experience of how schools react to this?

dancerdeb · 14/09/2007 19:17

Well doneto your dd
it wasnt so long ago when my ds was accepted by KL and we were receiving the same congrats messages from a lot of mums on this thread.
You will find that castings are normally after school, however a lot of jobs are in school time, in my case maybe 1 or 2 every 2 months that is how its worked out up to date, I also have a friend with a very popular KL boy, and he works about once a month, so I really wouldnt worry about too much school time missed

kewbride · 14/09/2007 19:22

Thank you! I am pleased, but feel a bit in the dark about it all at the moment!

Can school not stop you from taking kids out for things like this? How have your sons teachers reacted? I'm worried they may perceive it as unnecessary, which I hope isn't the case as I would make sure we caught up with anything missed at home.

3littlepigs · 14/09/2007 19:31

Congrats Kewbride - KL are great.
Each school seems to vary on how they react, some class it as a life experience and are happy about it and others are dead set against it and its unauthorised absense in their books. Maybe have a word with the head and see how the land lies??
Some jobs require a license and to obtain one the school has to sign a letter confirming time off!!... BUT seeing as she is only just starting school and not studying for her A levels I am sure you school will accomadate it. Good luck and Hope you are soon busy and don't have to have too many 'dentist' visits!!!!

dancerdeb · 14/09/2007 19:39

Well said 3littlepigs, only the other day we had a review for my son for his inhaler

firemum · 14/09/2007 22:04

anybody know any good teen agencys? or heard any on the grape vine. cheers

kewbride · 14/09/2007 22:56

Thanks 3littlepigs! I have a feeling the head at this school is going to be a bit funny about it. I'll just have to see how we get on. Luckily she will only attend until 12 noon until Easter so that may buy us a bit of time.

immykins · 14/09/2007 23:08

Hi all...can't decide what to do...have one day left to decide about joining DS (18 months) with BK. From what I have been reading it doesn't seem like this is the right time to join as the next little while is a difficult time for this age and don't know how co-operative DS would be. Any suggestions?

dancerdeb · 14/09/2007 23:09

firemum, I have a teenager who is with bk and he does get bits and pieces nothin major, did a lot more when he was little with ES, at the moment I tried him for KL, we got a NO! (his little brother is with KL), and have also applied to MOT recently but not heard, ES as far as IM concerned are better for the more junior children, thats my personal experience anyway, best of luck in your choices

michaelad · 15/09/2007 19:39

remind me again who ES is..

firemum · 15/09/2007 19:43

thanks dancerdeb, can you tell me who BK are, cheers

totallyfloaty35 · 15/09/2007 19:44

bk=bizzy kidz es= elisabeth smith

dancerdeb · 15/09/2007 20:46

Hi totallyfloaty, how are you and yours, say that because i can never remember each mums agency and children to be honest,
you've obviously caught up on my news, any thing going your end, hope so!

totallyfloaty35 · 16/09/2007 09:52

hi dancerdeb,my baby (with u/a) has been to a few castings lately with no luck,my 9yr old dd with kl has had a debenhams job but no castings etc for more than a month,my eldest dd,age 12 with bk has had a casting for clarkes but nothing else and she was filming a movie yesterday, just a walk on role, and not through bk,so pretty quiet really.
Anyone else doing anything?

dancerdeb · 16/09/2007 13:29

totallyfloaty, are you going to the model book shoot with KL, we are going on the 13th oct, first meeting with the KL team, Im feeling nervous, never mind my ds
We've had two jobs, two castings to date with them and we joined beginning of May, Im told thats the norm, same with us not heard for over a month now.

christabel · 16/09/2007 21:34

Hi would like some advice. My daughter is 7 and has been with her modelling agency in the north since January, had about 6 castings and about 6 jobs until end of June and then nothing, thought there would be a lot of work over the summer hols. I have phoned a couple of times but they just say she is obviously not what clients wants at this time and hopefully there will be something soon, I am wondering whether to change agencies. Is 3 months along time to not hear from an agency.
Any one else from the North.

julie4travel · 17/09/2007 08:26

christabel - i think you have done very well with that amount of castings etc this year. as long as the agent is putting her forward i think you are fine. i find modelling a bit like buses wait ages for one then two comes at once! what agent did you join in the end? i remember you from last year, u were the one who was let down by sponsership for an event i went to

firemum · 18/09/2007 16:33

Hi guys, anybody know about bubblegum agency, cheers

mum2twoboyz · 19/09/2007 11:13

did a new convo, but thought id add it on here too lol
am looking at changing agencies, and both Tuesdays Child & Number One models have been mentioned to me - but was wondering if anyone had any experience of either of them??
ds is nearly 2, so i know its not a good age lol he is with ak and dk models atm
