Morning everyone!
Here's the new threadx

OP posts:
nittynora · 29/08/2007 22:34

thanks for the advice everyone. I think your right about a new agency. Giving up with mimo, they dont seem to get any work and looks like ive done my money there.
What is albas please? thanks

nittynora · 29/08/2007 22:36

whats bk? sorry, this lingo is confusing. ive tried to read back for a clue but cant find it, so if someone could tell me what it is that would be great, thanks

dellgirl13 · 30/08/2007 08:46

bk short for bizzykidz, most agencies on here are abbreviated if you look back you should be able to work most out. i looked at mimo after reading your message. they are based in peterborough is that right?

julie4travel · 30/08/2007 09:55

hi

albas website is

www.albamodel.info/
please note the agencys listed to avoid on the first page and it lets you download the 'A' listed agencies who are agencies who are experienced or been going for years etc.

nittynora · 30/08/2007 22:18

thank you for that, sorry to be a pain. Yes Mimo is peterborough but wouldnt waste your money to be honest. i contacted that alba company and the lady said that no decent agency would let a parent change their own pictures or we they could put anything up and they are supposed ot be the experts and work with the clients. I suppose that makes sense, but you only learn as you go along. Only glad i didnt lose too much money but still pssed off with myself. i will apply to a few agencies on there list and see what happens but they might refuse us anyway.thanks for the help and for being patient with me

dellgirl13 · 31/08/2007 17:48

i just got back from allsorts agency. i have gone with them with 2 of my kids low joining fee. so just have to wait. will let you no of any auditions/castings

nittynora · 31/08/2007 18:47

how much do they charge to join and what do you have to do

LyraBelacqua · 01/09/2007 21:35

Hi all, I'm new here. I've scanned the thread and can't see what MOT stands for. Can anyone enlighten me?
I've just tried to apply for Bruce and Brown for DS1 (his pic is on my profile page, the one on the left) but they're not recruiting at the moment, and neither are Urban Angels.
Are there any other London-based agencies i should try? I tried Bizzykids years ago and got absolutely no work despite parting with a fair bit of money.

totallyfloaty35 · 01/09/2007 21:56

mot junior is the name of an agency,a gd one. Try kids london, other agents are bubblegum, alphabet kidz, theres alot of agencies that are gd but have lots of kids and lots of high fees, Elisabeth smith, scallywags, norrie carr etc.

marymay · 01/09/2007 22:01

hi totally .how did dd1 casting go ?

ellesmum · 01/09/2007 22:02

lyra - i would also try kids london who have the same amoutnt of kids as b&b on their books and also have no start up fee. Also you could try truley scrumptious, elizabeth smith, bubblegum and alpherbet kids. the only thing with truley and elisabeth is they have a very high joining fee of about £200.

i only have experience with kids london as my dd has been with them for the last year and has done quite well. At castings and jobs i have mainly seen other children from bruce and brown, urban angels and kids london. i would also wait until bruce and brown and urban open their books and apply to see if he is accepted.

oh mot stands for mot junior modelling agency, they are also a good agency to apply to.

good luck

LyraBelacqua · 01/09/2007 22:06

Thanks. I'm hoping we have some luck this time. I'm keen to avoid paying high fees again. People have been telling me for years that DS1 should be modelling, including the photographer who took the profile page pic, and i really want him to get some work this time.

dellgirl13 · 02/09/2007 09:24

hi allsorts charge £40 initially to join. then they take £150 from your first jobs. which is good as they will obvioyusly try and find you work to get their fees. one thiong that did worry me was once they get their money will they still find you work? will have to wait and see. application is via web page. then if accepted you will be invited down to sign contract and fill in form with childs details. very nice people. easy to find and get to via train or rd. also they are trying to to find models in manchester area so good for us who live a bit north!! but as there is nothing written about them on here will have to just wait and see.

mummyeme · 02/09/2007 20:05

Hi Lyra,
NCA aren't lots of kids and high fees, really good agency dd got lots with them alongside kl, bb, ua and mot. For lots of kids and high fees bk are the main ones £65 for a 3 min photoshoot where the booker doesn't even introduce herself! Furthermore, they then suggest you take a photo yourself to replace the one you just forked out for and tell you that you need to replace the one you paid for every 3 months anyway. Now theres a rip off!
If you aren't lucky enough to get one of the four cheaper agencies (who take the initial financial risk as opposed to you) you will still have an equally good chance of securing some awesome jobs! Good luckx

Thanks again. I'll get on with it tomorrow.

dancerdeb · 02/09/2007 20:31

Hi mummyeme,
long time since we last chatted. Have you tried any other agencies yet? every agency and every kid is different, you just have to find the one that suits you and dd, because she obviously can get into another agency if accepted by a couple already, been in the same situation but didnt give up!! this is not a lecture, but hopefully some advice to channel your energies elsewhere, and then feel settled in the hands of whom you believe to be a good agent!
wish you the best

totallyfloaty35 · 02/09/2007 21:51

hi mary, she said it went ok,they remembered her from before and the photographer seemed to like her alot.
what you been up to?

marymay · 03/09/2007 10:48

sounds good ..we saw her photo up in clarks when we were out shopping last week.
not much going on for my two.dd hasnt had any castings for about a month.ds had a call for a straight job for empire but we were going away for a few days so had to say no..
he hasnt done anything since the m&s back to school.sods law it will pick up now school holidays are ending.

MUM007 · 03/09/2007 16:40

Lyra- My DD is with BK and they have been great for her. I do not think £120 one off fee for web design is a rip off!! A lot of agencies charge you a yearly fee. This one off fee is until they are 16 (or 15 not sure)so dont quote me on that!
My dd has had jobs and has really enjoyed it. They stress when you join that you DO NOT have to have the photo shoot done it is up to you. I like the fact that i can update my dd photo every few months which if you think about it gives the child more chance when clients are looking. The photo shoot is for the look book which is circulated to mainly the modelling rather than the tv side. I know all this because i have just joined my ds and have been reading through all the paperwork refreshing myself again.
At the photoshoot they do like to see how the child is in front of the camera and it is a good experience for the parent as it is done like a casting.
Good luck in looking x

julie4travel · 05/09/2007 14:34

LyraBelacqua - just seen your kids pictures on your profile, isnt your younger ds interested too, i think he looks lovely aswell. have you tried bb, they only charge £25 from the first job to cover web costs and the model book is optional. good luck in whoever you decide to go with

julie4travel · 05/09/2007 14:35

LyraBelacqua sorry just re read your post and see youve applied already for bb sorry

julie4travel · 05/09/2007 14:36

i cant seem to get into napm, seems the site is down at the moment
good luck to all with castings/jobs this week

LyraBelacqua · 05/09/2007 18:01

Julie4travel, i think I might send off pics of them both and see what happens. Thanks for your kind words about my boys.
