thanks for the info on allsorts, they got accepted with bk but the fees did put me off slightly although i am tempted have applied to others but some are not taking any on till sept

dellgirl13 · 23/08/2007 11:49

sorry to keep pestering you all for info but my kids were accepted by rascals has anyone any info . what is putting me off them is as soon as you log on to website pictures of their kids come up for anyone to see. not good i think

3littlepigs · 23/08/2007 11:51

...don't rascals charge quite high fees????

Tinkerbel5 · 23/08/2007 11:55

dellgirl I think that you should wait until the other opens their books in september, apply to them and once you have heard back then decide from there on, we are nearly into september anyways and it could mean the different between being tied to a contract for a year with large start up fees or being accept by an agent with low start up fees by waiting a few weeks, good luck

Tallie11 · 23/08/2007 17:49

Hi,

My baby has just been accepted by a few agencies, in the end I chose Babyshak (hoping i made the right decision) Just wondering which other agencies aren't sole agents.

Thankyou

Tallie xx

goingfor3 · 23/08/2007 19:05

MOT isn't a sole agency I can't think of any others that aren't.

mummyeme · 23/08/2007 19:41

Hi Tallie,
Mimo aren't either, don't know if anyone had experience of them. They're quite new so may not get so many jobs, but it doesn't harm and the fee can come out of first job too.
Good luck.
Dancerdeb, nothing for us. But having such a bad experience with BK that I'm going to leave. Not re. lack of jobs/castings they just seem generally awful at what they are paid for: updates and other stuff. Friendly on the phone, anyone can do that. This is my experience, will be joining the line for the DTI. Other people may and have done well with them so I may just be unlucky.
Well done to you on your jobs.

Mummyeme,
I do understand where youre coming from, as I think everybody has different experiences with different agencies, some good, some bad! I repeat, that it was a whole year before my younger ds got any work with them, but at the time ak wasnt sole rep so I was getting jobs with her and wasnt feeling the frustration with bk, I think they have too many children on their books, that is definately a contributing factor to a lot of kids not getting jobs. Hopefully you'll find an agency that suits you x

wigglesmum · 23/08/2007 21:29

Hello
Still no news on the 'availability request'!
I called Sw today and the agent i spoke to didn't know what the job was for and said she assumed they hadn't heard back. She said we'd hear tomorrow if we are successful since whatever (job/ casting)it is is on Tuesday.
Fingers crossed something comes of it because I've been so excited! Plus DS looks particularly sweet at the mo and has no funny teething rash or spots! Also it would be nice to have that first casting or whatever to get the ball rolling and to feel that clients like the look of DS enough to want to see him...

julie4travel · 24/08/2007 08:53

dancerdeb - sorry i didnt see your message
no i didnt find out from debenhams what the pictures will be used for, so will start walking round debenhams in sep just incase i see any pictures up. ted baker new range comes out then and thats was ds was wearing. what clothes were your ds in ?

dancerdeb · 24/08/2007 09:33

julie4travel
I think we just might bump into each other at Debenhams, can you imagine, two mums just staring at posters or even taking pics there!! He was wearing the Debs range, Ted Baker too posh for us!!!

julie4travel · 24/08/2007 09:55

dancerdeb- sad thing is when i see someone i knows childs picture in a shop i try taking a picture to email it over to them, so i look like a strange person anyway!!!!

dancerdeb · 24/08/2007 10:14

julie, watch this space we might be cross emailing our boys pics!! (how do you exchange email addresses with someone in privacy)? I havent got a clue, do mumsnet do it for you?

julie4travel · 24/08/2007 10:55

dancerdeb- you can cat someone yet i think you have to pay a fiver membership
or if you are a member of not a pushy mum you can private message on that. i am the same id on there so makes it easier

dancerdeb · 24/08/2007 14:17

julie4travel. how do you become a member of 'not a pushy mum', sorry to be a pain!

wigglesmum · 24/08/2007 17:47

Oh well- no phonecalls from SW today so DS wasn't wanted
Hope this doesn't mean that SW won't be so keen to put him forward for things and that we will get another call soon. I really did get my hopes up!

MUM007 · 24/08/2007 17:52

Just to note it is not the agent that picks out the kids its the clients. As previously mentioned my DD is with BK and i am more than happy. We could have quiet periods of a couple of months sometimes then could have a casting or job every week. The jobs/castings we have been on have been BK scallywags and Kids London children there. But that is just one castings. Other agents have different clients.
My updates have always been actioned immediately as it is in there interest to hold the most recent details about your child.
If you look on there website it does also state that they are DTI regulated. This is one of the reasons i chose them.
My advice to anyone joining an agent is also to look on the Alba Model website which shows the A list agencies.

Hope this helps x

Howdydoody · 24/08/2007 18:46

Wigglesmum I have had that a few times with SW - they probably have to ask loads of us and then put forward all those free for the client to chose. Its a bit annoying when they dont get back to you to say "dont worry keeping those days free now". Yes, they are busy - but so are we! I sorted out school runs/ds1 babysitter for the days i was asked about and never heard anything.

dancerdeb · 27/08/2007 17:51

Hi all,

nittynora · 27/08/2007 18:21

Hello, it is my first time posting, so i hope im on the write message part but i did a search for mimo agency and came up with this after looking.
I wondered if anyone knows of them or had experiences with them at all and what they thought of them?

any help appreciated thanks

mummyeme · 28/08/2007 09:39

hi nittynora,
Have been with mimo a couple of months only and they've had some really great opportunities for 4+. Haven't heard anything yet for dd but they are quite new, so may take a while before they get a lot coming in. They keep you up to date with everything and you can update your own photos which is really good, especially having waited 2 weeks for bk to update. Also the joining costs are minimal (and not yearly) £35 for up to 16 I guess. Also if you are offered a contract they will pay for a photoshoot for the website. All in all they seem pretty good to me, just maybe not so much work yet but they aren't sole rep either so you could also apply to a bigger non sole rep agency, maybe MOT. Based on my personal experience I wouldn't say BK, but they aren't sole rep either.
Good luck

I have been with them for well over a year and not got any work at all. They send me emails of what they put my daughter forward for that i thought was impressive ages ago but anyone can do that and I am getting really annoyed cos my other half doubts and of them jobs are real and wants me to report them. I have looked about and i have never seen anyone say they had work at all so dosnt look good.
sorry if i sound thick but whats MOT and BK
thanks for the advice

julie4travel · 28/08/2007 19:10

nittynora try other agencys bruce and brown kids london mot or look on albas website and they will give you recommended agency web address's, after a year with one agency i would try another if you havent had anything.

totallyfloaty35 · 29/08/2007 17:37
