We've had the testicles thread - I'm concerned about what to call my daughters fanjon (if it is a girl).

Vagina - too clincal.
Every thing else: Too crude.

It used to be a 'hing' when I was a girl but I don't like that.

Xenia, my parents are doctors (my mother a paediatric and gynaecological specialist) and she always used the term "front bottom" with me, which I know from previous threads is rather laughed at.

But just to let you know that a medical background does not mean that medical terms are always used.

pinkspottywellies · 11/05/2007 20:39

My Auntie is Scottish and is known as Toots - hope it's not a Scottish thing

GloveandSpecialsauce · 11/05/2007 20:42

we have lots of sweet names for the female genitalia in Spanish

Chochete, chochillo, conillet, xoxet ....

luciemule · 11/05/2007 20:48

for DD - twinkle (my sister thought it was sweet and it stuck).
for DS - willy.
Boobs for breasts.
The thing about using the proper names is that when they start using them at school, everyone will laugh at them. It's widely accepted that families have their own quirky names for more personal body parts -and to me (and only imo) it would seem a bit strange a small child saying vagina or penis.

Apatosaurus · 11/05/2007 20:54

This thread has brought about the 'what should we call it' discussion with DH.

(currently it is just 'bottom' as in 'have you wiped your bottom yet'?)

DH (a GP) has just told me that grown women regularly come in to see him referring to their flower, rose or twinkle but his all time favorite is Camel's Foot!!!

Bloody hell how he kept a straight face I have no idea!

stleger · 11/05/2007 21:08

We all have jolly bits - but the boy ones are mostly outside and the girl ones mostly inside.

Josie3 · 11/05/2007 21:11

lol!!! I call my other half 'toots' It's always been his nickname

noonar · 11/05/2007 21:20

well, i had 3 brothers and grew up with 'winkie'. realised as an ADULT that this is not a unisex term

dd has named hers, a 'bitsy', dd2 has copied. agree about vulva being the 'best'word.

Malaleche · 11/05/2007 21:21

Gloveandspecialsauce - we also have 'coño' which translates as c*nt and is used with abandon by all and sundry, i hate it.

Malaleche · 11/05/2007 21:22

DD1 3.7 yo, calls hers 'boditch', no idea where she got that from....

noonar · 11/05/2007 21:23

as an aside, i have a friend who refers to her c*nt. yuk.

bananabump · 11/05/2007 21:23

When I was growing up it was my tuppy, or tuppence.

I think I'd go with bits or front bottom for a girl, a bits or willy/balls/bum for a boy.

My sister used to call her kids bums their peachymelons lol

Was so funny one day when my nephew at 3 jumped up out of the paddling pool and his trunks fell down, and he announced in a funny camp voice "Oh no. Everyone can see my peachymelon!" and ran off up the garden with his bumcheeks wobbling. We were in stitches!

Judy1234 · 11/05/2007 21:53

Ah, dumb, then may be it's a class thing and some people use the right word and some don't.

Radge · 11/05/2007 21:58

Simple.

Boy: Penis or willy.

Girl: Swipsy-Dipsy-honey-fronty-twinkle-peeping-pipster.

Come on all you euphemistic wall flowers. Stop passing on your phobias and shame to your daughters. Take the plunge. Make misogyny history.

MrsApron · 11/05/2007 21:59

I lol at flower every time.

My mum is a flower arranger and goes on about her flower ladies.

Girl bits/vulva in this house. Oh and Penis for Daddy but I am not sure I can say scrotum with a straight face .

DontCallMeBaby · 11/05/2007 22:10

'Bits' is good for the generic area, as in 'can you wash, please' and 'can I wipe?' DH doesn't like this, says I'm avoiding the words and informs DD that 'the whole area is your vagina' then gets VERY huffy when I inform them both it's NOT. No point in being unashamed and clinical if you're also going to be inaccurate. So she currently has a 'gina and wees out of her clickorit (yes, have tried to put her right on that one).

GloveandSpecialsauce · 11/05/2007 23:11

hey malaleche,

surely no one would call the little girls that word "cono". Never ever ever ever...

puaj!

puffling · 11/05/2007 23:15

growler

emwad · 11/05/2007 23:19

Foo Foo

macmama73 · 11/05/2007 23:25

lol, had lots of fun reading this thread.

Glad to see that I am not the only one trying to decide what to call girls bits.

My dd recently said she is just going to call hers willy, since her brother has a willy. I did suggest flower, but she said, no they grow in the garden.

harpsichordcarrier · 11/05/2007 23:32

hey! go Tanya!

madoldcatlady · 11/05/2007 23:39

I used to babysit for a couple who's daughters refered to their fanjos as minkys. That was fine until I was shopping in Sainsburys and saw that they sold dish cloths called "Minky Soak-ups"! PMSL.

mrsmalumbas · 12/05/2007 13:30

How about panty hamster?

allgonebellyup · 12/05/2007 13:37

Vulva is just laughable.

"oh mummy i have a sore vulva!!" WTF???

We just call it a ninny or a nin, occasionally a "faff"

STILL laughing at vulva.. isnt that a big square car?? ha ha

mrsmalumbas · 12/05/2007 13:49

If anyone is stuck for inspiration this should give you some ideas.
