mummyeme · 05/06/2007 18:11

Hi,
Thanks all for your help and advice. Have decided to go with Bizzykidz and they seem really friendly and patient with me asking lots of questions. Will try for Kidslondon again as well and B&B in a few weeks. But from what I can see Bizzykidz look good, fingers crossed we hear soon, yey good to be back in the loop. Wouldn't bother with UA again, twice been to consultations couldn't have done better last time and still a no, waste of time and money (they know what she looks like, photographer says shes great) hey ho. Anyway thanks for all your help, hows everyone going?

julie4travel · 05/06/2007 18:46

good lucky mummyeme - they do get jobs like tomy toys r us etc. my dd is three and has been quiet for her this year since she started, hopefully something will come up soon

Rubystar77 · 06/06/2007 22:51

hi
mummyeme- i think your be happy, they are very approachable and friendly my dd has the black n white photo shoot this sunday for their model book.

mygirlsmum · 07/06/2007 07:46

hi rubystar77 im going to sign my dd with bizzykidz just wondering do they charge extra for the model book or does that all come in with the joining fee ?

whatsup · 07/06/2007 09:18

Hi all, my friends little one was with bizzykidz for 2 years and in that time had 1 casting. She said they were always very friendly and helpful and easy to talk too. But she was a bit confused after she went to the model book shoot as they said they produce a baby one every few months rather than yearly so it may be worth you asking how long you child will feature in the model book when you go.

michaelad · 07/06/2007 09:24

Hiya, my ds2 is with Scallywags. Really nice people, had a few jobs but this year has been really, really quiet and now I'm thinking of signing him up with someone else when his contract runs out in September. How early should I start contacting other agencies?

julie4travel · 07/06/2007 09:30

michaelad i have found it to be quiet this year aswell and we are with different agents. if you are applying to ones like bb they can take up to 3 and half weeks to hear back so i recon start applying to agents a good month before your contract runs out

michaelad · 07/06/2007 09:33

Nice to know I'm not the only one... do you happen to know whehter BB, KL or bizzykidz accept people from outside of London (we are in Essex within easy train distance though) and how much they charge?

3littlepigs · 07/06/2007 09:37

michaellad - we are with KL and in essex.

3littlepigs · 07/06/2007 09:41

.....meant to add that they deduct £25 from your first earnings and then if you want to go in the model book thats extra but depends on how old your DS is as they only put over 3s in the model book. KL are very quick to respond.....we had an answer the day after we posted pics.

julie4travel · 07/06/2007 09:44

michaelad- bb def do as we are in east anglia yet commuting journey is good. BB charge no assesment fee yet if selected they will debit £25 to cover web site fee from first earnings. they do an optional model book shoot once a year and think i paid something like £150 for this cant remember exactly. that was done oct half term last year so could be quite good timing for you. my son earnt the fees back for model book and website plus extra in first job he got.

julie4travel · 07/06/2007 09:45

michaelad- fogot to say bk take outside london aswell as we got a yes from them

dancerdeb · 07/06/2007 10:21

Hi everyone, still not heard anything from KL, but thinkin its really quiet for everyone!
Blondiepops have you applied to any agencies yet? how old are your dd's
julie4travel, how does the modelbook with kl work, are you allocated date, time, etc are the photos done in black/white, do you think the kids get more work with the model book?

OP posts:
blondiepops · 07/06/2007 10:39

Hi ya dancerdeb my dds r 6 and 13 I have applied to bk for my eldest dd just wait and see, my younger dd was in an agency before alphabet kidz she only done one commercial for nick with them decided to try somewhere else.

julie4travel · 07/06/2007 10:41

dancerdeb- our model books we were our agents bb and ts. basically we were called with a choice of a couple of days and given and allocated time. dds book is bw pictures and i think ds is colour- depends on the agents. we got given cd rom copies of the photos to keep. its hard to know re model book sometimes if a model is sick last minute agents go through model books to see who they can get as an alterntive model at last minute. at the beg of the year these model books are distributed to all casting directors so should be a good thing.

3littlepigs · 07/06/2007 10:52

Tis quiet but we were lucky enough to have a job last week.
KL no longer actually produce a book its online - think thats the way most of them are going now.

dancerdeb · 07/06/2007 10:52

julie4travel cheers {smile]
blondiepops, my younger ds was with both BK & AK, he did a bit of work with both, although I got on better with BK, I found AK to be very erratic, as regards communications! my personal experience anyways

dancerdeb · 07/06/2007 11:01

3littlepigs, hi there, you mentioned you dont think KL do a model book anymore, what does it mean then, when they say in their acceptance booklet, that they dont want to see you for now? I thought that meant they will see you when they do their annual model book?

OP posts:
3littlepigs · 07/06/2007 11:16

Hi debs, probably confused you. Yes KL still do a shoot each year for the model book but its an online version rather than an actual book now.

dancerdeb · 07/06/2007 11:29

3littlepigs, cheers, have sent in new pics of my ds, as I dont think the last set did him much justice (my fault), do they automatically update them for you, or will they decide to use them or not, as I just don't feel comfortable asking if they have received them etc, I did email last week asking about uodating photos and they didnt get back to me, (not as friendly as BK) how do you feel communicating with them?

OP posts:
3littlepigs · 07/06/2007 11:50

I only really talk to them when its about a job/casting so normally by phone. But I always find them very friendly and helpful.
I am sure that they will chose the pic which they think is the best of your son and when they get a brief matching your sons they will submit his picture.

dancerdeb · 07/06/2007 11:56

Im not a cool dude about this whole modelling business I know, sorry if Im doing your heads in!!! I just get so anxious! that Im doing the right thing.

Hi Dancer, my dd is with KL since Jan, has had 2 jobs and about 10 castings (toddler stage so obviously they didn't go very well!) It has gone quiet now and we haven't had anything for a month or so. I think all you can do is make sure they have updated pics otherwise just keep your fingers crossed. When dd was getting lots of castings they called and asked me to send updated pics by email whereas before I was asked to only send by post! It is frustrating when it goes quiet as you wonder if your child is being put forward. oh well!!

julie4travel · 07/06/2007 18:14

foofootrue thats a lot of castings since jan, what age is your dd. my dd is 3 and only had 2 castings since jan, one which led to the job
