dancerdeb · 15/05/2007 13:33

Hello there, Yes I echo that, it seems really quiet, been with kl for 5wks now and not heard a thing, is this normal as you tend to think that the agencies like to give their new kids a test run to see how they do? on their castings, jobs etc?

OP posts:
yackertyyack · 15/05/2007 16:41

Dancerdeb - don't think it makes any odds whether you are new or not, they will put all the kids foward that fit the profile regardless. Its such an unpredictable game.....! But I am sure you won't be waiting forever!

dancerdeb · 17/05/2007 17:33

Is anybody there to have a chat!, has anybody done any castings or jobs recently, it seems so so quiet, I only joined this thread last month, where has everyone gone?

Hi Dancerdeb

We are with Urban Angels and have had nothing since March. Contract is due to be renewed and I kinda thought they werent going to as work has been so quiet for lo. However had a call today from them and they still want to renew contract. I think it must be quiet all round. Somtimes its just a waiting game and just when you think it's all over things start to pick up. We have gone for months without anything.

LM

marymay · 17/05/2007 19:54

hi lizzymouse..did urban angels give you a date to go and have your dd or ds photos done.
ds year is up and he was asked back .was just wondering when they are doing it this year .

dancerdeb · 17/05/2007 20:00

hiya Lizzymouse69, yeah I know what youre sayin, its just that since changing agencies its been so quiet, and I question my move! even if I know that kl are one of the best. What has your lo done to date with UA? cheers for replyin!

Hi Marymay and Dancerdeb.

It was only a quick chat with ua to confirm that we would continue for this year. They said about doing photos on the next bank holiday but nothing has been confirmed as yet. Could be different for different ages.
Ds is 21 months.
My mind is going foggy thinking bout what he has done. Initially he did Practical Parenting casting and job. Then Prima Baby job - no casting for that. Then castings for M and S Johnson and Johnson, Mini Boden - casting and job but dont think he was used. mackays and Empire castings. Not that much when you think about it but they have all been nice to do. Some better than others. Depends on the people involved in Shoots.
I'm sure we tried KL but got a no.

marymay · 17/05/2007 20:36

thanks lizzy .im sure it was around that time last year .

dancerdeb · 17/05/2007 20:38

Lizzymouae, its true its all about the people at the shoot and how good they are with the kids, when my ds did a lazytown game cover, the photographer was fantastic his name was hip baily, anybody heard of him? apparently they use him a lot. When I applied for UA, they said no coz he was extrememly like a boy they already represent (long curly hair)! My ds has a look alike in last years, next catalogue, I think it was the little boy that UA mentioned to me somehow!

deb,its been pretty quiet lately, especially for my eldest dds,my dd2 age 9yrs joint kl about 4weeks ago,she has had 1 casting.i did consider putting her with bk as i was told they get quite a lot of work for older kids, but she wanted to be at the same agent as her friend!
I was wondering why you left bk and your other agent as you seemed to be doing quite well with them?
my baby is with u/a and she has had jobs with-mothercare,tesco,vodaphone,britains next top model/mamas & papas ,M&S and she has another job with mamas an papas at end of may.My eldest dd has had nothing since jan,and my 9yr old did 2 castings in a year with her last agency and that was it,it seems to be long periods of nothing, then lots all at once,im sure you will here from kl soon.

dancerdeb · 18/05/2007 09:40

totallyfloaty, yes I just felt it was time to move on as I always wanted my ds to be with one of the best agencies, and have more opportunities, I had tried twice in the past for kl, and this time he was accepted, and I didnt hesitate to remove him from bk and ak, hopefully its not a case of the grass is greener!!

OP posts:
totallyfloaty35 · 21/05/2007 20:22

id wait if i were you,you said bk took a year to get going,so give kl another month,my dd2 has had nothing from them either,my dd1 is with u/a and she not had anything since jan,but her castings all seem to come at once.I know how you feel though,im really impatient too

dancerdeb · 21/05/2007 20:34

totallyfloaty, yeah i waited a year with bk, but things were happening with ak in that time so i really didnt notice with bk if you know what I mean!! thats the good thing of not being sole rep!! thanks for the sound advice, I had a gut feelin not to call and annoy them, but needed some back up, cheers

3littlepigs · 21/05/2007 21:02

Hi Deb, I am sure that if KL have taken your DS on then they will be putting him foward for stuff. I spoke to them today and have to say they sounded VERY busy so would sit on your hands (easier said than done!) and wait for them to call you.

dancerdeb · 21/05/2007 22:17

3littlepigs, Im learnin, Im just much to use havin had a good year !! and then I made a choice and now I have to learn to be a little patient !!! how long have you been with kl and what have your little ones done?

Hi All

Has anyone heard of AModelChild in Macclesfield. Am asking on behalf of a friend. Her 8 yrs DD has been accepted by BizzyKidz (they want 120 and to go for a photo shoot), but as she lives in Leeds she wants a northern based agency also. Has got appointments with Catwalk & DK who my DS is with. Unfortunately she was one day late for UA but they have said to contact them again in October as they would be interested. Although Catwalk have said not Sole Rep but can't be with DK also.

julie4travel · 22/05/2007 21:55

chorusline have a look if they are mentioned on albas website , they maybe on their?

she could try the london agents as long as doesnt mind coming down to london for castings jobs etc, a lot of people do that, bk seem to get work for older kids and are on alba website. we are with bb and very happy with them.
they didnt charge for assesment, they took £25 from ds first job to cover website fees and the model book shoot in oct was optional - we paid around £140 roughly - cant remember exactly

dk seem to get the work aswell

other northern ones are boss - i think manchester, absolute in liverpool , cant think who else

other southern agencies kids london, mot elliott brown , cheeky kidz, to name a few,
truly scrumptious - has models from northern places, hope that helps

Rubystar77 · 23/05/2007 08:43

hi mums,
had a availablilty check for a casting tomoz(thursday) for my 5 month one.. no details what its for and hopefully will hear to day.
any one else had the same for babies? any idea what its for?
dancerdeb, i'd wait, they do hate people hasseling when they are busy. unless you have a real reason to ring up you could mention it.
perhaps ring for a doctors letter or something like that if you haven't already had it done..
what is the msn thing? and how do you get on it? no one seems to be on here any more , i can remember dylansmum and elles mum from last year , how are your little ones getting on?

3littlepigs · 23/05/2007 09:18

deb, we have been with KL for over a year and have had some lovely jobs in that time. We can go for months with nothing and then get a couple of jobs come along in the same week...... it really is very unpredictable. We treat it as a bonus when something comes up! Would really try to refrain from ringing them as they will call you as soon as something comes up, after all they only make their money from you working!!
Rubystar - hope you get the call you are waiting for today!

dancerdeb · 23/05/2007 10:09

littlepigs/rubystar
cheers for the sound advice, yeah I agree with what you both say. rubystar all the best for the casting tomorrow, hope it goes well.
yes, how do you get on msn, as this thread doesnt seem to be very busy!

julie4travel · 23/05/2007 10:12

rubystar - its a msm group. if someone who is a member of the group has met you in person we can get you invited in. post on here who you know . we are careful of who is invited in so someone has to vouch for you first - hope that makes sence
