Cliched - as in slightly dysfunctional cop/PI who will solve the case in his own inimitable way & beautiful dead woman. I think it's the genre/writing not the performances. Will watch it as it was diverting & TB has rather more charm that your usual dysfunctional cop/PI.

TB and HG were both fab. Martin Shaw was great, model/actress playing Lula was great, but agree Wardle struck a bit of a duff note.

Oh yes - that coat. I want a coat with pockets like that - it fitted the whole sodding case notes into a pocket without spoiling the lines (so, ok, it was TV, so it was probably the cover just to indicate that case notes were in there, but still...) I have a coat like that, but it doesn't have those pockets.

Good news! At he Filmon site you can record stuff so I did that with CS last night, didn't think I would be able to watch it without interruptions but I watched the beginning now and had no problems so SQUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Looks absolutely brilliant!!!!!

So pleased WW and Comtess have been able to watch. And hello Elk, I knew you'd be back.

Yep, really good. I read the books with Tom as Strike so he's just as I imagined, and Holliday is perfect as Robin. I thought Tom conveyed the agony of his disability brilliantly, I winced for him when he saw those stairs. Agree about Wardle, he seems too young.

The plinky plonky Lula music was a bit annoying, but the rest of the music was good, very atmospheric. Loved the opening titles. Can't wait for tonight.

Shocking night's sleep last night - couldn't get to sleep until about 1am, and then DS joined us in bed at about 1:45am - all knees and elbows Still, DH got up with him this morning so I had a lie-in. Hurrah for DH.

Is roasting hot again - have got the washing back in the machine (the one I forgot to add the detergent to yesterday); the throw is ready to go on, and I shall follow Fancy's example and do the bath mats as well. Hurrah for the thrill of laundry

Excellent news re. ww watching after all; hope LetUs had a brilliant double-up on new PJs and new Bedding; hope Fancy didn't have to kill DD for bed-hogging
