Up to date on Strike - refreshing to see a crime drama with a dead man rather than an attractive, young dead woman. Was a little disconcerted that the brief with the wife seemed to be 'make her look like Rose West'

Blackberry rubber jelly on the cards chez Elk when I can be arsed with all that dribbling it through a bag business, although I also found sloes, so clearly gin is in my future.

How are you getting on Apes, I've had a go and a half at Strike and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it, which I'm very pleased about as it is my least favourite of the books. Again the casting is fabulous, I thought the Rose West Leonora character is really well played and exactly like I imagined her to be, the scene with her daughter as she's arrested was heartbreaking. I agree tho, apart from the 2 leads, none of them are at all likeable....but then that's the point I suppose. I can't actually remember whodunnit with this one either.
Loved the desperately awkward drinks scene, some fab comedy moments, and the continuing chemistry between them is just great. He's starting to go a bit soft less grumpy philistine as the attraction builds.
