Check the size of the tins you use helen - I've had to scale up the recipe I have as teh tins I use are bigger than the one's specified in teh recipe and without scaling the cake barely rises. Scaled up it rises fine.

Oh and if you're being strictly correct:
cream teh butter & sugar
beat the eggs
beat in teh eggs
fold in the flour

I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to baking

Well, I have enjoyed TB's performance and interpretation of the role. though as DH pointed out, JKR doesn't write very pleasant or cheerful stuff. I think he may have been objecting to the disembowelment. Though we ate ages ago so that's ok.

Got tennis on TV now but I think I'm heading for bed - I'm sure it won't make any difference to the result if I watch or not.

Also, Strike thoughts - apart from the main two characters, I don't really care about the rest of them. I'm not sure if this is because I know who actually did it, or because none of them are particularly sympathetic, or a combination. (Or if I actually am a sociopath with no empathy unless the character is visually appealing ) But there we go.

I made it through Strike DH didn't. TB and Holliday were brilliant, but I'm inclined to agree with Helen about the other characters. I think I made a mistake in re-reading the book as I kept comparing the two and wishing they hadn't left bits out. It felt a bit rushed and would probably have benefited from having 3 episodes.
