I think the amount of homework given to small children is excessive. DD and her DH have trouble keeping up with it, and DGS is only 6. Goodness knows how parents cope if they have 3 or more children and/or work full time. My DC had little or no homework until senior school, just reading.

DD has SMH - I haven't logged in for ages & don't get notifications I hate that it shows all homework due in with seemigly no facility for her to show what she's done. So I've gone old school - I just speak to her direct & rely on the school to tell me if she's slacking.

I have been in the garden, since I have (remarkably) not much work to do. Well, I do - but it's all waiting for other people to get back to me. I have also bought boots and a coat, and will buy a new lumie alarm clock when I get notifications of re-furbished stock (because I'm cheap like that). In the meantime I can't turn the light on any more, though it still comes on for the alarm.

Anyway, to answer what Erik did, the two Danish warlord brothers Erik and Sigefrid want to capture Wessex from Alfred (The Great) so they kidnap Alfred's daughter Aethelflaed for ransom in order to raise an army. Erik rescues her from rape and they fall for each other. She begs Uhtred to help them to escape, thus saving Wessex from the Danes and her from her brutal husband Aethelred who she married to form an alliance with Mercia. If Uhtred agrees, which he hasn't yet, they will probably have to tell Alfred that Aethelflaed is dead, so he won't be happy, and Sigefrid will no doubt come after his brother for betraying him. I don't see it ending well.
