Child Modelling - March

Cripes! March already!?

Have things been quiet this part of the year, or is it just me? Only had one call for a casting a couple of weeks ago and couldn't make it. Otherwise - nada!

Lets hope March picks up!

When does it go off the stands?! Will I miss it if I leave it until tomorrow to pick up a copy!? I think they rotate their magazine around this time every month!

It's only just gone onto the news stands pimms. Most people have had theirs early on subscription. I checked earlier this week and they still had the last one out with the Dr Zuess cover. So don't panic.......you won't miss it!!!!!

The move went well. I am still unpacking and generally running around like a headless chicken! Trying to figure out things to do with the LOs over the holiday. Just connected to the internet today so I am catching up...

Thanks for letting me know about DS's photos! I thought (for some silly reason) that he was due out in May!

2many, it is Mays issue, but it comes out beginning of April, have you seen the pic yet? Its both our DS's! I emailed you, how are you!!

Best of luck everyone with castings and jobs - and happy Easter. Choc here is Oz is strange - and really expensive, bought a packet of maltesers and it was about 95p!!

Hi DD got first casting tomorrow for a catalogue, how do these castings work and what will they ask DD to go. Also do people take portfolios with them. Hope someone can advice.

2manypimms sorry i didnt reply i havent been on this thread. hope you manage to get a copy of junior, glad the house move went well, i dont envy u!

christabel - all castings are different. as long as your little one goes in confident thats the main thing. we have had ones where ds had to play games with them, act out a scene etc. Good luck

I bought out WH Smith's copies of Junior! Now to send them to Gran and other interested family parties.

Can anyone tell me about the alternate discussion area of modelling? There was the one for discussing the "issue which shall not be named" but what about the other one?

2manypimms - we all still talk on that same msm group that was set up. we ditched the yahoo one as we kept blocking the inbox. it will be the same log in etc that you had before

Went for casting on Tue but DS didn't get job and job was today and did not hear, there were about 25 kids there, went for another casting today so fingers crossed.

Not sure if anyone interested but if you ring 0845 357 3626 you can get a free copy of Junior magazine. Saw this on mumsnet homepage.

Hi All

I know this has probably been asked heaps of times but after a bit of advice please. My little one has just been accepted by Elisabeth Smith and Bizzykids and trying to decide who to go with .I had heard that it was more difficult to get onto the books of ES so my gut feeling was to go with them..any advice appreciated..thanks!!

Kjmummy I dont know about BK, but ES are ok although you do have to pay out a lot of money and they do have a lot of children on their books, you might be lucky enough to get a lot of work to compensate the money you have had to pay out, good luck

actually Kjmummy have you tried any of the other agencies, Bruce & Brown, Kids London, Urban Angels etc, might be worth a try before you make a decision, how old is your LO ?

Did anyone go to the Burberry Casting on Fri? not holding any hope as was told they were seeing 150 kids! also i think dd was invited as a last resort as when the agency called they made it sound like i'd be doing them a favour by going. oh well!!

KJ, elisabeth smith wrote a book on child modelling which i foolishly bought. got the feeling she's very old fashioned. she advised mums to phone the agency on a daily basis to ask if their child was needed that day, i think if you did that most agencies would take you off their books for being a pain!
