Five years on from my first treatment, the options have pretty much run out.

Please join us for the rest of the journey. Doom and gloom is absolutely banned. There are still laughs and love to share and celebrate.

Evening.

I've spent a large part of today in bed. I was up for a few hours first thing this morning, then slept a few hours, then managed to get into Craven Arms in time to catch the bank and pick up some essentials at Harry Tuffins (bread, milk, yoghurt and ibuprofen). Back home, put away the fridge bits and then back to bed.

The Movicol is working well but I'm still having a lot of abdominal discomfort. I woke from my nap about an hour ago and it was as though there was a volcano erupting (or a sack full of snakes wriggling around). It also hurt like holy hell.

The appointment for my ultrasound has finally come through. It's for next Thursday, 22nd December at 09.40 am. I suspect it's going to show that the cancer has spread quite a bit more.

That's actually quite fortuitous timing as I can then go on to Sainsbury's and do the main fresh food shop for the holidays. I can then come home, put the food away and then go to bed until ZLad and ZLass arrive on the 23rd. I've booked them an airport transfer car so they will be collected as soon as they reach the Terminal 5 Arrivals Hall and delivered straight to me. Happy days are on their way!

Happy days starting tomorrow of course. Hats at the ready Phalanx!!

. Sorry about the cramps, I hope they ease off.
Good plan for the cabs.
You're a braver woman than I am going to the shops that day! I don't like shops though, esp supermarkets.

DoctorTwo · 15/12/2016 21:45

Blimey Fid, good for you. As for what you do next, well, that's entirely up to you. You deserve some happy time after dealing with an arsehole.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 15/12/2016 21:46

Haha, yes, I'm very generous Grin

That's so exciting Fid, we need a blow by blow account of every text, conversation and face to face encounter!

No editing allowed.

Now. Is he actually Cuban? Or does he just teach Cuban guitar? How is a Cuban guitar different? Or is it just the style?

Just go with it. He called you, he's keen.

You'll know what to do when the time comes.

Just be you. It's worked so far.

HerRoyalFattyness · 15/12/2016 22:20

I'll be ready with my hat zombie
fid very exciting news.

PacificDogwod · 15/12/2016 22:34

Oh, only one more sleep to ZombieWedding!

Zombie, you have it all planned out. I hope your body will cooperate.
Do let one of those doctor people lay a hand on your tummy if it keeps hurting and grumbling
Brew

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 15/12/2016 22:55

Ooh, that's crept up suddenly.

Hat is one of the few thing I can locate readily

What can we sing Z?

You'll need lots of FlowersFlowersFlowersFlowersFlowers

kali110 · 15/12/2016 22:57

wish you a lovely christmas with your family zombie

PurpleDaisies · 15/12/2016 23:01

Oh I love a wedding. Totally forgot about the hag though. I've only got a wooly hat with little ears on it so it looks like a bear. Will that lower the tone? I can make a fascinated out of a hair clip and my ribbon box if that's more appropriate?

PurpleDaisies · 15/12/2016 23:02

Hat not hag!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 15/12/2016 23:03

Ooops, sorry, managed to post twice missing your last Zomb

I suppose it's a good thing that your volcanic goings on are not present live at the ceremony!

Clink!Clink! Phalanx!

What time are we on parade?

Allalonenow · 15/12/2016 23:21

Oooohhh! I'll be there with my hat.

Get busy making a fascinator Purple woolly hats with ears won't do for a wedding. Xmas Grin

It's afternoon IIRC, so the sun will be over the yard arm, we might have to have a drink! Wine Wine

PurpleDaisies · 15/12/2016 23:31

Right-I'll get my glue gun out. Grin

Somerville · 15/12/2016 23:38

Zombie all the timing sounds like it's worked out well, with fitting hospital and food shop in before your family arrive. It does sound like quite a busy day though - supermarkets will be packed. So take it easy sorry to nag

Fid Hope you have a nice time with Cuban guitar teacher at the weekend. Also, don't tell your best friends/sisters unless you want a barrage of texts with sex tips throughout your date. (Or maybe you have friends/relatives with classier senses of humours than I do.)

Fiderer · 16/12/2016 02:13

Days before Christmas are frantic at the shops, anyone around to give you a hand Zombie ?

Wedding is late afternoon so we can get squiffy. I might treat myself to a bottle of sparkling wine. Have hats but they're either Lara from Dr Zhivago (it does get cold here) or rustic farm girl. Nothing glam.

(BBB - from Cuba, teaches guitar.)

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/12/2016 05:35

Fids honey I couldn't be happier for you 🎸

(That's meant to be a guitar)

And Zombie about to be a Zombie-in-law!!

Life is a funny old thing. Actually funny is not quite the word but it's late and I've had Wine I've seen a lot of you over on poor Tunnocks thread, gaaah I don't know what I'm trying to say so I'll shut up now. I think it's something to do with utter, utter sadness and tragedy and loss countered by happiness and joy all in this messed up world at the same time.

should have shut up when I said I would

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/12/2016 05:36

I think I need my bed.

Anyone for more vino?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/12/2016 05:37

Humph. Where is that BBB when you need her.

Fiderer · 16/12/2016 05:44

I'm up, you lush Fancy a breakfast Glühwein? All natural stuff, grapes, spices...

Fiderer · 16/12/2016 07:26

Z said the wedding is at 4.30pm GMT. So that's ... ... later this afternoon, I get an extra hour to prettify my hat.

Hats
Cats
Flowers
Rice? (Why do/did people throw rice?)

We'll need hats for Somerville's wedding too, won't we?

Re my ref to Dr (drippy) Zhivago and Hearts comment re odd world. I was musing on that earlier while making sandwiches at the crack of gloom for my children. That whole world has changed. You couldn't actually buy Dr. Z when I studied it, the university had to order it specially from an Italian publisher and we were sternly reminded by the university not to take the book (and several others) to the CCCP.

My 3 grew up here and have little/no idea of East vs West. They were surprised to hear my tales of travelling through East G to get to Berlin before the Wall came down. Ditto my nieces and nephews having no idea what army patrols in Belfast were like.

Mind you, they're growing up in Putin, Trump & Syria times.

Good thing we have weddings Grin And Cubans ... Wink Appreciate all the lovely Phalanx comments.

PacificDogwod · 16/12/2016 07:37

Fecking Christmas Jumper Day! Hmm

Who's fecking idea was that?! And mine clashes with my hat!

PacificDogwod · 16/12/2016 07:43

HTD, you found the perfect words on Tunnack's thread btw Thanks

PacificDogwod · 16/12/2016 07:44

Tunnock - I don't even know what Autocorrect means.... Hmm

OhTheRoses · 16/12/2016 08:00

Ooh the wedding. An excuse for daytime fizz.

Ha ha, my boss sent an email yesterday asking if we were doing Christmas jumper day - I was so tempted to write back "you make an arse of yourself if you want, I'm on leave". But instead said "we don't usually but what a festive idea if people want to, I'll see you on Monday" Grin

Zombie you are almost a MIL or even a ZIL. Sorry the symptoms are troubling you. What does your GP say - rather hoping you have the "special number" so you don't have to spend x hours hanging on the phone.
