iklboo · 13/12/2016 08:11

A month Magi? Off anywhere nice?

New GP signed me off work yesterday until 9 January. He wanted to sign off to 31 Jan but I haggled him down (for now). I'm going to be vair popular when I ring in Hmm

Mummylin · 13/12/2016 09:10

magi don't forget to don your wedding outfit ! Happy Christmas to you and yours

TheMagicFarawaySleeps · 13/12/2016 09:32

Have a wonderful time magi

So glad you're get things sorted out Zombie, it's less to worry about. When do the ZombieKids (Zomblettes?) arrive?

Fiderer · 13/12/2016 09:54

magi You slacker Shock take me with you

I've spent the last hour shopping (which I hate) in Aldi (which I hate) for Stollen & Lebkuchen (which I hate) for a C'mas party for school. Full of the joys I am.

Having read about cheap & tasty Aldi gin in the UK - I have been long since resentful that they don't stock any gin here in bloody Aldi-land.

Then lo, a Yule miracle did appear and there was rejoicing in the aisles and joyous singing.

Hang on, I'll take a pic.

The wotsit is a tealight holder that FidBoy 2 made in woodwork. It's massive so I've commandeered it for the Advent candles I always forget to light. Have given up on one a week since the Fids are older now and no bugger cares. Apart from FidBoy2 so we light them every night in the kitchen and I enthuse over his woodwork skills Grin while he indulges me and says "Oh Mum, you're so sweet".

Only from him will I accept that Grin

This is the gin bar chez iklboo. We need a restock - most of the bottles only have a couple of measures left in them.

Have a wonderful time magi, are you off to play with the grandchild?

Fiderer · 13/12/2016 10:27

ikl Am flying home for C'mas. Please stock up and then send me your address.

May I ask - do you want to be off for longer? Health-wise, do all to make yourself stronger, esp as winter bugs can be fierce if you're generally not fit.

Apols if off the mark/talking out of arse.

iklboo · 13/12/2016 10:32

Fids - not talking out of your botty at all! I hate being off work, but I may have rushed back earlier. If I'm still wobbly on 9 Jan I will go back to GP (though worried about sick pay running out of course). Working from home would be optimal - Occy Health doc has recommended at least a month from home when I go back & GP supports this, but my Head of Section is being awkward & HR woman is useless. She just agrees with whatever boss says.

Boss gets occasional vertigo so she thinks she knows exactly what I'm experiencing & that because she's ok after a couple of days then I should be too Hmm

Fiderer · 13/12/2016 10:39

Multiple letters confirming working from home the best way forward, then.

108 should do it

Meanwhile, take charge of the Phalanx Still and mind self.

iklboo · 13/12/2016 10:43

Still shall be manned Grin

AcrossthePond55 · 13/12/2016 12:58

The Monty Python 'Spam Chorus' is running through my head but it's going like this:

Gin, gin, gin, gin,
Gin, gin, gin, gin,
Lovely gin, wonderful gin (wonderful gin)!

And it's only 5 am here!!!

Allalonenow · 13/12/2016 13:50

Or
Gin gin glorious gin
Nothing quite like for making you grin.
So follow me follow,
Down to the hollow,
And there let us wallow
In glorious gin!

Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

The ZombieKids are arriving on Friday, 23rd December. This morning I've booked a car to pick them up from Heathrow and bring them to me. Their flight is due in a 05.55am (!) and by the time they collect luggage, clear immigration and customs and their driver finds them I reckon they should be on the road between 07.30 / 08.00. That will put them with me 10.30 / 11.00. So, so, SO excited.

They leave on Thursday, 29th December. We're going to Stratford Upon Avon on the 28th to see The Tempest at the RSC. I've also booked hotel rooms in Stratford for that night. The next day they can get back to Heathrow by rail / coach. I'm just waiting for ZLad to let me know what time they need to be at the airport to check in their luggage and then I'll purchase their tickets. I reckon they'll need to be on the 10.03am train. Sad

I had a so-so night last night. I must learn that I need to have my last food of the day at least 4 hours before going to bed... I've upped the Movicol today so hopefully that will speed things on their way.

It's going to be such a wonderful Christmas for all of you Zombie, enjoy every second of it sweetheart.

UnbornMortificado · 13/12/2016 15:15

Have a fantastic time with the zombie kids. I'm sure you will get the right food/sleep/med balance soon Flowers

HerRoyalFattyness · 13/12/2016 15:16

Not long now until you see them zombie And only a few days before we get to wear our fancy hats Xmas Grin

Somerville · 13/12/2016 15:42

The reviews for the Simon Russell Beale Tempest are magnificent, Zombie. I was dubious when I heard about all the special effects, so held off booking until reviews were in, and then kicked myself because the dates we could do aren't available. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

EmmaGellerGreen · 13/12/2016 15:51

Delurking to say that I am so envious of you seeing The Tempest in Stratford. My hints to DH have fallen on very dea led ears.

EmmaGellerGreen · 13/12/2016 15:52

deaf ears

PacificDogwod · 13/12/2016 16:23

Zombie, I have a lump in my throat at the thought of Zombiekids arriving, all loved up and happy - and happy to see you!
And the weekend you have planned sounds amazing - do enjoy!

Ikl, time off/schmime off - you are ill as long as you are ill. Basta. Biology does not really care how inconvenient it might be to your or your workplace and HR woman can feck right off!

Loving all the gin pics!
It will be time to strain my haw gin soon - the stirring spoon licking samples suggest that it is coming along nicely Xmas Grin

Fids, I don't have an advent wreath or candles Shock - I think I may have gone native don't tell my mother
Have you had a look at Lidl gin? V v tasty.

I favour Lidl over Aldi because I can walk to Lidle....

Fiderer · 13/12/2016 17:17

Simon Russell Beale as Prospero Shock Envy I only really saw him for the first time when he was in Penny Dreadful, but he's the narrator on several Audible books I have.

PD They're last year's Advent candles, never lit. Given up tbh but FidBoy2 knows that and laughs at with me.
