Hey Z - sounds like you've been doing the right thing resting up. Hope it's onwards & upwards for a good while now.

Whoop. Triple ration! I'm in bed drinking a double Opihr gin. Just been to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the theatre. Very good show, even with a 10 min technical breakdown (it's only 2nd night). DS loved it. I loved it cos we only paid £10 each for what should have been £43 tickets.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 07/12/2016 23:54

That. is. adorable. Royal, aw, little smooch, priceless photo StarSmile

I think you make an excellent point Allalone, I will commission some extendable dorys (dories?) for maximum flexibility of flutterance.

I could request built in martini parking facilities.

At the top?

Half way up?

At the hilt?

Whaddya fink?

PeppaAteMySoul · 07/12/2016 23:58

Zombie I'm a lurker delurking- I hope that's okay?
You are so inspiring and strong making such tough decisions. I (for what it's worth- probably nothing) think it takes so much courage and insight into what's important to chose quality over quantity of life.
Right, better go back to prodding the newborn. He's 6 days old and has been asleep for almost 4 hours. I am leaking milk all over the place. Come on baby wake up!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 08/12/2016 00:24

Peppa of course it's OK, pretty much everything is OK here.

Is he your first?

Good combination; him too much sleep, you too much milk.

Much better than the other way round Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 08/12/2016 00:25

Just got a Ninja Coffee maker. Drinking double lattes all day long as we're trying it out. May I please have a triple ration of gin? Maybe then I'll be able to sleep tonight.

Glad Zombie is feeling a bit better. Spending Saturday on Amazon sounds like a good goal. Retail therapy right from the sofa.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 08/12/2016 00:46

Across once you've posted here you are automatically a member of the Phalanx, so any rations issued are yours to do with as you will.

let's just hope magi can keep up!

AcrossthePond55 · 08/12/2016 01:45

Thanks, Bewitched!

TanteRose · 08/12/2016 02:09

huge hugs, brave Zombie Flowers

hope the Amazon retail therapy works a treat! Get something fabulous for yourself as well Smile

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 08/12/2016 03:37

Peppa you have a 6 day old newborn?? Am I allowed to SQUEEEEEE!!!! I bet he's gorgeous.

Zombie glad to hear you are pacing yourself. Have you been able to look into getting any more help at home?

This moving in malarkey is overwhelming. I mean I love our new house but there is stuff everywhere. And it is all crap. When did we ever get so much crap and why did we move it across the bloody Atlantic FFS. The movers left today and DH is back at work tomorrow so it is me on my own drowning under it all. Ugh. And that doesn't even take into account packing up all our crap stuff at my DM's and moving it over.

Let me see if I can post a photo and then you can all lie if you have to tell me how gorgeous it is and make me feel better.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 08/12/2016 03:38

Chez Hearts. If you are on my FB you've seen this one already!

Bewitched he is my second and I spoke too soon about the sleeping thing. He has been feeding constantly since 1am.
Anyone want to swap a sleepless newborn for gin? He is a milk monster cutie.

Dear Zombie, I have always read but never posted before.
I just want to say that I went through similar with my mum and from experience I think you have made a very difficult but wise choice.
It's really OK if you don't feel like being always strong for everyone else. Let other people be strong for you as well.
Hope you are feeling better and enjoy the Amazon shopping.
Couldn't be less christmassy here in south east Africa!! But the local gin is very good.

Fiderer · 08/12/2016 06:27

Hearts Envy You have a proper porch. Will you get a swing? And sit swinging gently on warm evenings drinking gin and listening to the soothing chirrup of the crickets?

Peppa Congratulations on the cutie. Terrific hair Grin

Zombie Amazon shopping good idea. Hope you continue to rest and find strength.

It's -8 here this morning. Yesterday the children were slipping and sliding down the pavements. Germans are v dutiful about gritting but it was so early. Poor FidBoy went flying, luckily his rucksack cushioned his fall and being the sweetheart that he is, called me to warn his sister.

Brr. I'm contemplating breakfast Glühwein rather than gin Grin

Allalonenow · 08/12/2016 07:05

Hearts What a fabulous house! Wishing you so much happiness in your new home.

Peppa Aww he is beautiful, thanks for posting such a lovely photo.

HerRoyalFattyness · 08/12/2016 07:59

peppa aww. I'd swap, but I have enough of my own!

I have completely lost my voice. If anyone finds it can you let me know. It's probably with my marbles.

dementedma · 08/12/2016 08:08

May I de-lurk? Like many I have been following the threads but didnt like to intrude. Happy to swell the ranks of the phalanx and I like gin!

iklboo · 08/12/2016 08:40

That's a lovely house Hearts - I'd be setting me a swing too!

Peppa - beautiful little one.

Welcome to all new phalanx members.

It's pouring down here. I'm re-laid up with the dizzlies (thank you so much, work, for rushing my phased return. Now look what you gone & done & did). Docs this afternoon. Hope it stops raining.

Mummylin · 08/12/2016 09:53

Hearts that is a wonderful house and I love the veranda. I believe in all the films you have to sit there with some wood and a knife and whittle !
peppa what a beautiful little baby.
BBB hope you have settled into your house now and got most things sorted. Did the electrician sort out the heating ?
Zombie, happy shopping !!

Mummylin · 08/12/2016 09:57

Ikl, you have rain ! Dry here but very overcast, debating wether to go out or not. I am an hour behind, woke up looked at phone and thought it said 8.30 but once down stairs realised it actually said 9.30 !
Hope the dizzlies soon goes away, it must be horrible.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 08/12/2016 11:04

Absolutely gorgeous baby Peppa

I love your house Hearts, looks like a very romantic place.
I get exactly what you mean about moving house and being astonished at all the unnecessary, unwanted crap some of us accumulate!

I woke up late this morning too lin, 8.30! It was 5.30 most nights in the caravan. Still trying to reorientate.

Hope the dizzlies dizzle off very soon ikl.

And hope you've bought some lovely things Z.

PacificDogwod · 08/12/2016 13:52

Babies!
Verandas!
Triple gin!!

Lots of stuff going on here too.

I will have to read up on my Roman vocabulary to keep up...

I checked behind my sofa - no marbles, or voices - sorry Grin

Somerville · 08/12/2016 14:03

Roman? Or Ancient Greek?
I'm not entirely sure which type of phalanx we are. Has that been established on earlier threads? I'd favour Greek, as per its origins. But I can swap my sarrisa (very long spear - like, sometimes 20 feet long) for a puny pilum if necessary.

LineyReborn · 08/12/2016 14:32

I did Latin at school useless fact

Allalonenow · 08/12/2016 14:50

It's a Greek Phalanx, Achilles, Ajax, Odysseus and all those Trojan war chaps.

iklboo · 08/12/2016 15:16

This is going to sound sooooooo weird (well, weird for me) but a Trojan helmet - the armour kind, let's not get too rude - makes me come over all unnecessary. I have no idea why.
