why why why do i keep buying pushchairs? what is it about them?.....or am i alone in this?

ds is 3 yrs 7 mnths and i'm still buying them-bl**dy ebay!

OP posts:
misdee · 21/06/2004 01:58

she is you know. she has a hoarde of hardly used buggies in her shed.

midden · 21/06/2004 01:58

buggies are a big part of our lives, they affect how we get around with our kids, why shouln't we try them all out??!!!
Although I think I have had a bad case "perfect buggy perfect life -itis"
Especially with the doubles - kept thinking that if I could just get one lighter/swiveling/narrow enough it would make my life so much easier. In reality it is just hard to get around with two small kids and at the time I coudn't drive.

midden · 21/06/2004 02:01

www - no no no not spent that much! most bought on ebay apart from first(bought by in laws) and double urban detour. Probably closer to £200/£300
in total - I made quite a profit on some of them!!!

WideWebWitch · 21/06/2004 02:10

Oh midden, I hope you know I was poking fun in the nicest possible way! I looked the prices up misdee, honest, I don't have a secret stash of buggies

WideWebWitch · 21/06/2004 02:11

maisystar, I meant, not misdee. Ah, so midden you were looking for that magical buggy that gave the children their tea and put them in the bath too? Now that I'd have paid 2 grand for!

midden · 21/06/2004 02:16

yes don't worry www - I know it was just fun. Guess some people do buy this many and do buy them brand new - can't see the point....especially if you have them for such a short time as i do!

busybee123 · 21/06/2004 11:57

i am on my 3rd baby and have had 13 puschairs so far. Nutty i bought a gorgeous 3 wheeler in the index sale a few weeks ago for £60!!! looks really smart for the money. DH keeps complaining about the amount of 'wheels' i buy, so i bought him a car and that soon shut him up!!! spends a lot of money modiying it now so i dont feel so guilty about my pushchair addiction now!!! where theres a will theres a way!!!

Ixel · 21/06/2004 12:08

Ha! I AM normal!! Wait till I tell dh! Ds is 7 months, and we've got a Graco excursion, a baby jogger, a Maclaren daytripper(in pink!), a Silvercross, a mamas and papas stroller of some type, and have also had a Mac 3 (returned to Mothercare) and another Graco buggy (sold).
Tell you what though, I'm getting a bit bored of the 3 wheeler. Anyone want to buy it? Nutcracker? The negative is that its a Graco, so not v cool. But the positive is that its alot lighter than Urban Detours etc, so there's no probs on the bus etc. And am going to have to decide what I want next, in the hope that this'll be the last one I ever buy!!

Soulfly · 21/06/2004 12:36

lol. I am a pushchair addict. I have had about 12 in my kids lifetime, lol whether i have brought them or been given them. Sadly my ds is going to school sept so it will be no more pushchairs for me!!

busybee123 · 21/06/2004 12:49

i have to buy another one anyway....13 is an unlucky number!!!

Soulfly · 21/06/2004 12:51

busybee123 · 21/06/2004 12:52

busybee123 · 21/06/2004 12:59

best one i ever had was the graco citisport which i sold ( begrudgingly!!) last week. Was in mint condition as well. peeved me selling it but had to...lack of space!!!

Fio2 · 21/06/2004 13:01

anybody in kent have a spare buggy they want to give away to a poor mummy ?

busybee123 · 21/06/2004 13:07

if you some to the shropshire meet up fio2 you can have one of mine!!

Gingerbear · 21/06/2004 13:11

Don't they sell buggys at Netto or Aldi Busybee????

sponge · 21/06/2004 13:11

You're all stark raving bonkers .
I had a Graco something when dd was born. It was stolen when she was about 6 months (yes people do stoop that low) so I bought a Maclaren lightweight something which we still have.
Now need a new lie flat one with new bubba on the way but when he outgrows that he's in the Maclaren.
I've looked on e-bay but it really doesn't seem that cheap for buggies. There was a Maclaren XT in there for £110 with a couple of days still to go when I can get a brand new one from kiddicare.com for £112. I can see how the serial buyers might bet into profit on this.BTW has anyone tried one of these new posh ones - the bugaboo or xplory? The centre of London is thick with bugaboos but they're £500 ffs.
Me, I'll take the shoes (when the swelling in my feet goes down that is).

smellymelly · 21/06/2004 13:12

I think I've had about 12 for 2 kids!!! Now I'm having twins I can start all over again....

Have 4 at the mo, but have managed to give one to grandparents to use to give us more space.

Dp despairs of me!!!!

smellymelly · 21/06/2004 13:14

I am proud to say I have never had a McClaren!

(How sad is that?)

smellymelly · 21/06/2004 13:17

Can anyone give me advice for a twin pushchair, I would like to start with a side by side.

Thinking about citisport, or urban detour doubles, (it always looks like it is about to tip over)?

Gingerbear · 21/06/2004 13:18

I love lusting after prams and buggies, but cannot justify the expense!!

DD is 2 and has had a M&P 2-in-1 and now a Maclaren Vogue. The M&P was great when she was tiny, but so big and bulky in and out of the car.

Bought a 2nd hand Daytripper when she was 12 months for a holiday - mum now uses that when she looks after DD.

The Vogue is great, lightweight, good pockets, but crap shopping net and brakes.

We aren't buying any more!!

(Unless I need a double buggy if ever we have another baby.....)

webmum · 21/06/2004 13:26

Yorkiegirl

I'm with you on that one...it is my third buggy (one I hated:Aria, the second broke down, Chicco caddy9 and I had a pram borrowed from sister sod eosn't ocunt does it?

but now I'm pregnant again, I'm getting itchy fingers and find myself in mothercare and JL looking at a new buggy to use form 3 months (my daytripper would not and I can't bear the thought of using teh Aria again)

Has anyone seen the new Pramette form Aria?
