Tyler from FF - PHWOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRR

NomDePlume · 02/06/2004 09:35

When I met him he was sat on the sofa drinking coffee at around ummmmm 9 - 10am ish.

hatter · 02/06/2004 10:02

Most of my encounters have been on aeroplanes. I sat near the Spice Girls - they were no. 1 with What I really really want at the time, and I was only vaguely aware of them. I was trying to think what sort of flibberty-gibbet girls would be travelling business class and decided it must be that girl band. (nb this was the only occassion in my life that I've flown business class and it was because I got a free upgrade!) I also saw Will Hutton and Jemima Khan on a plane and Max Clifford on a train. I saw someone from Corrie on holiday recently. And I saw Posh Spice (again!) in a toilet in a restaurant. (nb the only time in my life I've been in a restaurant that Posh is likely to frequent: someone else was paying. weird). I've seen Yasser Arafat in the flesh but at a considerable distance. And I've spoken to Jonathan Ross and have to say I disliked him intensely - he made some really offensive homophobic and arrogant comments to my gay friend.

hatter · 02/06/2004 10:08

did someone say Jeremy Clarkson? My brother was his fag at boarding school. Apparently he was deeply unpleasant. Never met him myself though. Am vaguely aware that I'm giving out a false impression of myself here. Boarding school was not really our thing. Both brothers lasted about about four years and hated it. Sorry, hate to justify my way out of that one

Piffleoffagus · 02/06/2004 10:11

Tim and Neil Finn (Crowded House, Split Enz nz fame) most of the most important folks with horse racing in NZ too. Met Alvin Hall (on a tube and he was ACE) met Michael Hutchence again in NZ in 1986, seriously sexy man...
Dined next to Kate Winslet and shared a baby spew joke as she was feeding her daughter ... did not actuayl know it was her until about an hour after I had left..
lots of sporting people as my bro was a sports lawyer for some formula one and footballers and stuff.
Know lots of current and previous All Blacks from school days.
Plus my dh's uni mate is a special effects guru and has met and worked with brad Pitt, orlando bloom, george clooney and lots of others.
Brad Pitt was not strong enough to carry replica proper roman sword so had to make special light one for Troy!! hee hee

oliveoil · 02/06/2004 10:16

I used to work for a concert promoter so have been 'in the vicinity' of lots of musicians, not met any actors though. Would like to meet that Del Torro man, can't remember his name, the one with the bags!

WideWebWitch · 02/06/2004 10:18

juniper68 · 02/06/2004 10:21

I suppose to talk to it would be the guy who played Judy's hubby in Corra. I saw him at centre parcs and he asked me if i was birdwatching cos i had binoculars on. I didn't let on i knew him tho. Saw him later with another bloke from corra so they must've made friends on set. Can't remember his name either lol but he was smarmy with black hair.

juniper68 · 02/06/2004 10:25

My cousin on the other hand has met soooo many famous people as she cooked veggie food for Pinewood studios. Even got a letter of thanks and pic from Sidney Poitier. She now cooks for Ralph and Francessca on a regular basis and does dinner parties for them.

OK, various thoughts:

Nomdeplume - why were you hanging out with Tyler at that time of the morning?

Tinker - re your friend and Coverdale - did he leave her with a (rather nasty) permanent reminder of their liaison? (Not that he did me - I was only 8 when we hung out. He was very good at giving piggy backs on the beach.

Starry - was your flatmate's producer boyfriend Welsh?

Some of my names... all of Deep Purple and Yes (but you would have to be quite old to be impressed by that. I wasn't and wasn't.)Chas Smash; Toyah; Tricky; Anne Robinson; Kate Beckinsale; Joanna Lumley; Dawn French; Yasmin Le Bon; Ian Wright and Alan Smith; Lord Lichfield; David Copperfield and large swathes of the Eastenders, Corrie, Neighbours and Home and Away casts.

lemonice · 02/06/2004 10:47

dd1 and two friends met Argentina's top boy band last year and spent quite a lot of time with them (went to their parents' house to stay etc) and had to dodge paparazzi go into restaurants separately etc Band is totally unknown here tho massive there called

Mambru and very cheesy music.

CountessDracula · 02/06/2004 10:49

David Copperfield? surely he fictional!?!

Tinker · 02/06/2004 10:49

Oo, Willow - she's never mentioned it. Don't suppose you would though.

oliveoil · 02/06/2004 10:50

CD -

willow2 · 02/06/2004 10:51

Isn't he a horrendous magician as well?

Tinker · 02/06/2004 10:51

Piffle - would have loved to have met Neil and Tim Finn. Jealous.

Gingerbear · 02/06/2004 10:57

One of my best mates at school was Chris Walker (plays Tiger in Merseybeat)
My drama teacher was John Godber, the playwright (Bouncers, Up n Under etc)
Saw Mark Williams (Suits you Sir) from the Fast Show on holiday in Majorca, he was in a bar and bought drinks for everyone.
Stood in a queue in Boots behind Kevin Keegan (when he had his curly perm - I thought he was gorgeous!!)
The crap blond comedian from 1980s that used to say "Chase me, Chase me" goes in our local pub.

DH knows Darren Gough's dad. DH knows Barry Maguigan, Brendan Ingle, Frank Warren, Frank Maloney, Prince Nasseem, Ricky Hatton, and many others in Boxing circles (he is a Steward for Boxing Board of Control and regularly appears on Sky Sports). He has rubbed shoulders with many more famous names than I!!

marthamoo · 02/06/2004 10:58

Dh used to get a lift from Peter O'Toole on a regular basis (he knew his daughter). And Tom Selleck (Magnum) once looked at buying a holiday home in dh's village.

OK, am scraping barrel now...

Oh and the man who drew Postman Pat lived in our road when I was little.
