New to Mumsnet...been on it a few times, hardly anyone ever answers posts - and it seems like the same people 'chat' to each other, and it's really hard to get involved....

OP posts:

lol ive kind of gone on about ice age though maisystar OOPS!!! sorry

Bettybloo · 24/05/2004 19:45

SL - to a certain extent I agree, a couple of times I've posted on threads and really got the feeling of "ooer - stuck my nose in there when it wasn't wanted". But you only have to read through certain threads to feel the amazing warmth and support that comes through , whether people know each other or not, to feel that it's not you - it's circumstances and it's well worth persevering (IMHO!). It takes a while in RL to get fully involved, and presumably in virtual life too, but what's unusual here is we're all able to see all the stuff we're missing out on so it's hard not to feel left out! Help!! Extemelely proud of myself for getting 50 active convos but each time I refresh or come out and go back to it its gone back to 25. How do I rectify that please??

There you go sl - a classic example of just jumping in on a thread when you have nothing intersting to say!

tammybear · 24/05/2004 19:51

i think ive been on here too long. its affecting my brain. or maybe thats just me... lol

colinsmommy · 24/05/2004 19:52

I'm fairly new here, and from the US to boot, so I thought I might not be welcome, but many of the people have been nice and talked to me when I crashed a bar. I made some stupid post about what are fairy cakes, and didn't expect a reply, and got a whole slew of them, and managed to even get recipes. Thanks to all who have contributed, or just chatted. I chose to join here because the site had such a warmth to it, and log on and look every day, even if I don't chat, it brings my spirits up.

kalex · 24/05/2004 19:53

Tammybear. Sorry I have had tears rolling down my face in laughter,

maomao · 24/05/2004 19:53

Hey, I've wanted to know what fairy cakes are, and I've been on MN for longer than you, colinsmommy! So thanks again for starting that thread!

colinsmommy · 24/05/2004 19:54

Thanks maomao, I was afraid I had started a bit of a war over what they actually were. I laughed my head off after reading all the posts.

maisystar · 24/05/2004 19:54

I haven't read all of this thread but would just like to add that I LOVE MUMSNET and have only been posting since Thursday. Everyone has been so kind and helpful, feel like I have my own network of Angels out there. Sorry your experience hasn't been the same Sunlounger, I'd just keep on posting and hey, look at the response to this one!!!!!!!!!!!!

SoupDragon · 24/05/2004 20:02

Once you've changed the 25 to 50 - bookmark it in your favourites!
