There's still plenty of room for posts on the current thread but I'm starting this one now as I may be offline for some time.

I've asked iklboo to keep an eye on my FB timeline and to copy / paste the updates here so they should appear as and when.

Make sure you have your chianti and fava beans ready for the 11th!

7:00pm. Every evening. ZombieCatG jumps up and sits on the arm of my chair and stares at me.

7:20pm. She starts tapping me on the shoulder.

7:30pm. Dinner time for the ZombieCatsâ„¢.

Every evening. Excuse me while I go open a couple of pouches of Felix.

Today I let the (6 month old) Wolfie kitten cats out for the first time. I was not at all anxious and didn't follow them around the garden. Not me. No way!!
They are in and safely sleeping now. Felix for them too soon. With added roast chicken for coming home again!!!

DameMargaretofChalfont · 02/01/2016 19:35

Growing up in the 60s and 70s I had a rose tinted view of parenthood.

I saw myself as a SAHM raising 2 bright, helpful, polite children who would help about the house when asked and never get in a sulk or strop.

I even envisaged myself preparing sumptuous evening meals for DH with me serving them in full make up and having "dressed for dinner".

Basically I was living the dream peddled in the Peter and Jane Ladybird books!!!!

Reality hit like a bloody bus when DD was born - DH was frequently presented with a grizzling baby, a harridan of a wife and, if he was really lucky, a burnt plate of fish fingers and oven chips!!!!

I hate reality!!!

Mummylin · 02/01/2016 19:45

Then reality hits ! I was amazed to find that things weren't as as all the baby books said ! I was someone who loved her sleep and for me that was the worst part. I should of been a trapeze artist as that was also my childhood dreams, but I hate heights Grin

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2016 19:52

When I was 7 or 8 I was certain I would marry at 16 and have at least 6 children.

OP posts:
iklboo · 02/01/2016 19:53

I was going to be a world renowned palaeontologist, jetting all over discovering new dinosaurs with no time for getting married.

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/01/2016 20:01

I was going to be a famous lawyer.
I was also going to drive a formula 1 car and win the championship.
And I was going to race superbikes too.

Hmm

Then I wanted to be a social worker for a while, quickly realised while volunteering and doing outreach work that it wasn't for me as I become very emotionally involved and that can't happen when dealing with sensitive issues. I then decided I wanted to work in a nursery. That's what I'm qualified to do (actually have my level 2 CYPW which qualifies me to work with children and young peoy, from birth to 19) and I've volunteered and love it. Unfortunately I need my level 3, which to get they want me to be working. To get a job they want me to have my level 3. So I'm a bit stuck until I can find someone willing to take a chance on me.

Mummylin · 02/01/2016 20:31

At least we all had our dreams, seems like none of them actually happened, but that doesn't matter. ( thinks she could still try being a trapeze artist ). I also remember though when I had my heart broken for the first time, I often wonder what happened to him and where he is now.
There was another boy I went out with for a while and I thought he was the dogs bollocks, now he is fat. Bald and bloody scruffy !! Haha. It must be the new year think about times gone by !

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 02/01/2016 22:16

lin! We might have met in that other life too; I wanted to be a lion tamer!

We could run away and start our own circus Grin

magimedi · 02/01/2016 22:44

Oh, the ones that got away..............

He has a double who is on TV sometimes, in a v 'naice' show & I still (after 30 happy years of marriage) have a little yearning!

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2016 23:26

There were a few years in my mid - late teens when I was going to take Broadway and Hollywood by storm.

Then I 1) realised I didn't want it badly enough to starve until I made it and 2) I wouldn't be able to use my own name professionally as another actress with a few movies credits (not all bit parts either!) had already nabbed it.

Haha it would indeed be a circus BBB ! I could have a lovely sparkly outfit and you of course would have a very smart coat, with tails and a top hat oh and not forgetting your lion taming cane. Mind you I have no idea how I would get up to the wire because I don't like heights !
Anyone else want to join our circus ?
Magi, I must admit to looking on friends reunited for my lost love and had a reply from someone of the same name, but it wasn't him !

Mummylin · 02/01/2016 23:37

Zombie my brothers step daughter Is an actress and currently filming a third series of something called Salem. She has just been home here for Xmas but has now returned to LA . She is doing very well. I think her character is Mary something or other, I forget the surname, her name is Janet Montgomery and that is her real name and the one she acts under. I will post a pic I took just before Xmas taken with her dog Guthrie , who lives here with my brother.

She was on our tele in a prog called " dancing on the edge" has been in several things also there was a very weird prog, no idea what it was called but you could just make people invisible, was very odd !

Wolfiefan · 02/01/2016 23:42

Zombie we do indeed. Wink
And it's a lush place to live!

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/01/2016 23:46

First love. My first love is DP.
First boyfriend was a boy from primary school who one Christmas bought me a present, but didn't know which house I lived in (he knew the street) so he knocked on every door on the street to find me. (Ok, if he started on the left hand side he would have only have had to knock on two doors before mine but it was still sweet!)
High school there was no one that got away
Shit got a bit fucked up. Although I did have a very short "relationship" with DPs best friend! who has an obsession with telling everyone about me, even now, nearly years later! And drunkenly admitted to DP he still fancies me. DP doesn't see him much anymore!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 02/01/2016 23:50

Ooh, the ravine would be a good place for you to practice lin with the low hanging ropes if we can get someone to tie the knots , we'd be a very supportive pre-audience.

No, that was not my plan for my lion taming outfit, thank you. I was going to use the leftovers of my mother's silver dress actually.

I was thinking that these days I might need a holographic lion, but maybe I could just borrow Guthrie Grin

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2016 23:55

Clarence. The cross eyed lion.

I loved Clarence.

Guthrie is a lovely dog but he slobbers and I can't stand that ! He is a real softie and has a passion for chewing up my brothers socks ! That is my brothers leg in my photo, he got in the way !!

Mummylin · 03/01/2016 00:01

Is this you BBB ?

Zombie's Surgical Adventures and Beyond
Wolfiefan · 03/01/2016 00:03

I'm not a lion tamer but I have cuddled tigers. One decided to roll on its back and claw/gnaw on me. I told it no and it stopped. Does that make me a tiger tamer?!
Hmm

Mummylin · 03/01/2016 00:09

And this will be me

Mummylin · 03/01/2016 00:11

Do you want to join our circus Wolfie ?
