Julie - I'm not that tall! - 5' 6" but would have been wearing heels when you saw me!! Looking at the height chart in dd's red book, she's aiming for 5'8" to 5'10" if she stays on the same line - so she'll be looking down on me when she's a stroppy teen!!

mum2twoboyz · 09/11/2006 08:41

hmmmmm i still reckon they just forgot us and so we wont even get a no lol will keep u updated - am more curious as to who the catalogue is for!!! well done on ur holiday btw julie - what a great prize!

mummsyjo · 09/11/2006 09:21

sorry I was quite rude wasnt I ! Hi everyone my name is jo and I sent the message late last night !! Thanks for the info so you think its best to wait a try others b4 i send bizzykidz the money ?? how is everyone this morning ??

housemum · 09/11/2006 09:22

mummyssjo - as Julie said, check out childmodelling.net for advice. Be aware of the what's involved in child modelling:

downside: calls at short notice (like the night before) for a casting, then not getting it; you may get a week or so of being backwards and forwards, then months of nothing; travel costs (these aren't re-imbursed, typically you may get £15 for a casting which may or may not cover your train fare)

upside: the great feeling when you see your little darling in print (or on telly if you're really lucky); the confidence it gives your child (so long as they have the right temperament in the first place)

Don't expect them to get much money - my dd earned about £2k in 2 years, but nearly half of that was one commercial. Expect about £60 to £80 for a couple of hours photographic work. However, it is lovely that they do earn something - dd's is squirreled away for when she's older (money is always paid to the child not the parent).

Good luck!

ellesmum · 09/11/2006 09:44

housemum - if you go on cmnet the marks pictures are on their under ellesmum m&s thread.

Lolly68 · 09/11/2006 10:16

Good morning everyone.

Julie4Travel - well done on the prize.

Ellesmum - thanks for all the wonderful photos of Elle - all the girls in the office are cooing over her!! Are you going to BHS again today?

Good luck to everyone else with castings/jobs!

ellesmum · 09/11/2006 10:22

hi lolly, no we are not going again today, they didnt need her think they are doing the older kids today.

mummsyjo · 09/11/2006 10:27

holly is alreasy with bowdens in north london I have had a couple of calls but nothing has come of it! so i just want to try some others I just got a reply from childsplay and they want me to go for an assement its a lot of money is this right ??? Bowdens dont charge anything .

Lolly68 · 09/11/2006 10:34

Hello Mummsyjo. I had a yes from Childsplay as well before I joined ES and yes they are expensive - I think they are the most expensive but they have got a good client base. Have you tried KidsLondon, Urban Angels and Bruce & Brown - these are the top agencies and they dont charge nothing to join. You can email photos to B&B and UA (although UA have now closed there books I think) but you have to send photos to Kids by mail.

julie4travel · 09/11/2006 10:39

mummysjo- childs play are quite expensive, i know bk are cheaper in fees yet they have children who get lots of work and others none.

i personally have gone this year for a agency with not as many children on the books so then there shouldn't be internal competition. last year my son was with sw which has about 1000 kids yet he only had 1 job. they were a good agency yet so much variety of kids. plus their fees were higher too so we left them early this year. Good luck in your decisions. If UA books are still open try them as they only take on twice a year and are rated as one of the best. Think they only charge £40 or something like that.

good luck

Thanks for all your congrats on my prize. Just working out how much the flights will set us back! Normally we upgrade our flights yet i dont think we can afford that this time as we still have little money left over from moving! cant have it all i suppose

Hello Trace2.

Julie - Doesnt it annoy you when you are penalised for having children!! It annoys me so much. We are off on a cruise at Easter. Lydia's first holiday. She will be 13 months - hope it goes ok - a bit nervous! Have to do some work now - boss just gave me a 200 page doc. Catch you later!! x

trace2 · 09/11/2006 11:03

hi Lolly68 so glad to be lurking again lol

julie, tell her to go walking

julie4travel · 09/11/2006 11:06

trace2- she dont even want to move from the sofa!

lolly- that will be great. I love cruising. I did one towards the end of my second pregancy as was stressed out with work so needed time to relax etc. left my ds with his dad and me and my siter went off. we used all the facilities (apart from jacuzzi) and i loved eating for 2! once you have done it you will have the bug!

dd1's job went really well yesterday. They said she was perfect, so hope they got the pic they want. They also let her keep the clothes, a star candy/wand thing and i got a few polaroids to keep too

lanismum · 09/11/2006 11:21

Everyones been sooooo busy!
I havent a hope in hell of remembering everyones good news, but well done for ALL the littlies that have had castings/jobs/ and who have been spotted in print!
thumbs, well done to your dd1, your dd1 and my dd waited so long for their first jobs, lets hope they were the first of many!
ellesmum, quick question, you know the pink knitted jacket that elle modelled for her first job, where was the pattern from? my mum wanted to try and knit something for dd, and the thing that sprang to mind was that jacket/cardi.
I will keep my eyes peeled for the mumsnet babes this weekend, might have to pop to lakeside for a coat so i might see some of them.

lanismum · 09/11/2006 11:22

aaahhhhh thumbs thats brilliant, so glad it went well for her, and brilliant that she got to keep the clothes too!

trace2 · 09/11/2006 11:24

mythumbelinas yes he is lol,
hope your dd get it, it sounds promising,

we are looking at going to another agency even in london if they have us, so if anyones got any ideas?
