Love Lula and violet.

MrsApron · 13/10/2006 23:16

Like Violet despite Charlie and the choc factory.
Iris not fussy
Lula too like lola.
Pearl reminds me of that country song Pearl's a singer sung by my mates gay semi transvestive flatmate on top of bars tables etc whenever he had one to many sherrys.

ThomBat · 13/10/2006 23:19

Dodn't mind Lula
Not decided on Iris - jurys out still
Violet - love it
Pearl - NO, no not for me, no

singersgirl · 13/10/2006 23:24

Think Iris is lovely. Quite keen on Violet, but it's a bit close to 'violent'. Don't like Pearl.

PrincessConsuelaBananaHammock · 13/10/2006 23:25

Lula sounds nuts
Pearl like a pearl necklace
Violet is gorgeous

PrincessConsuelaBananaHammock · 13/10/2006 23:26

Iris is wannabe posh like Sadie Frosts daughter

Lula reminds me of Harry Enfield going 'looolooo' dressed up as a baby

DastardlyDevilishDior · 13/10/2006 23:27

Not keen on any of them TBH. I do like the old-fashioned names though. Hope and Grace especially.

Ellbell · 13/10/2006 23:27

Pearl is the best of the lot.

Know some Germans called Iris and not desperately keen.

Don't like Violet.

Lula sounds like a euphemism for fanny (sorry if anyone's child is called Lula! )

edam · 13/10/2006 23:43

Agree with Ellbell about Lula. I know Victorian names are coming back in, but Pearl, Violet and Iris just make me think of old ladies like my great-aunts.

violet is my dds middle name, so obviously i love it, and lula is my mates dds name, also like it, dont mind iris too much, but not keen on pearl.

Avalon · 14/10/2006 00:09

Don't like Lula, like the others.

I had two great-aunts called Violet and Iris. All their sisters had flower names too.

cece · 14/10/2006 00:10

OK but apart from Lulu reminds me of old ladies. Lulu is more of a pets name imo. sorry

Irsi - very nice
Violet 0 okish

LuLu and Pearl - not good!

BudaBeast · 14/10/2006 00:31

Not keen on any I am afraid - too old-fashioned excetpt for Lula which could be a dog/cat.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/10/2006 01:16

I rather like them all....

But, mostly Violet, then Iris, then Pearl, then Lula.

darlink · 14/10/2006 01:18

Not mad about Lula (yes does sound like a fanjo)but think the others are lovely.
Really feminine and charming.
I know a little girl called Pearl.
She was named after her gran.

bewilderbeast · 14/10/2006 01:26

I like Iris, not keen on the rest I'm afraid

fussymummy · 14/10/2006 02:08

Sorry, not keen on any of them.

Those names remind me of old ladies!!!

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 14/10/2006 07:39

my grandmother's middle name was Violet (also Corrie barmaid's name), her SIL was Iris, i like them both
Lula sounds odd, like the end is missing eg Lulabelle
Pearl, not keen but can see it would work.

harpsichordcarrion · 14/10/2006 07:42

lol at a bridge outing.
Lula def no.
Iris possible.
Violet nonono, sorry but too close to violent. (My cousin just called her baby that and I swear everyone calls the poor kid Violent (For A Joke, which I fear may wear thin soonest).

LadyMacbeth · 14/10/2006 08:07

Was planning to call next dd Violet - after reading HC's post perhaps not then!

That is, if i have another dd...

I like Iris but REALLY don't like Lula (sounds like a joke name) and REALLY REALLY don't like Pearl, it reminds me of that sour faced old woman in Last of the Summer Wine.

FrannyandZooey · 14/10/2006 08:12

Not keen on any

Lula a bit bonkers
Iris is ok but a bit blue stocking
Violet - I know a Violet and she doesn't endear me to the name
Pearl - not for me, but is at least genuinely unusual these days

belgo · 14/10/2006 08:16

If you like old fashioned flower /gem names what about Hazel, Lily or Ruby?
